  1.   If I was walking through the parking lot and have a random guy tell me to stop like the driver did I would probably point and laugh. That is paranoia at its worst if you are telling people to stop for 15 feet away. I mean how many people are walking through the parking lot of Walmart warning odd acting people to stop. The driver is just not acting normal.   The other thing that I find idiotic is training or doing a scenario with a real knife. Accidents happen and you want to minimize the chance of injury during training. Had the victim stepped to the left a step just as the guy was fake stabbing it could have been really bad. Pretty bad judgement on their part.   Dolomite
  2. This means the guns that shoot this round will be being sold. Can't wait because I reload and have 600 pices of brand new starline brass in this caliber.   I love the caliber and have done a lot of work with it. If someone would chamber a "modern" gun in it with "modern" ammunition designs it would be more widely accepted. I honestly believe it is in the top 3 best defensive calibers out there.   ETA: I remember buying the 1260 round cases for $120 shipped.   Dolomite
  3. I have also draped a towel over the scope and had it cover the ejection port.
  4.   I took a plastic 55 gallon drum. I put a piece of 1/4" AR500 steel inside angled so the bullets glance off and into the 12" of dirt. Nothing exits and I keep every bullet I shoot to melt back down. The plastic drum is self sealing of sorts but it doesn't matter becaues the dirt level is below the holes. You could also use 3/8" mild steel for most cast bullets.   The drum cost me $7.   Dolomite
  5. +1   We are a family here.   Dolomite
  6. Hey, that design predates the shortages so it has to be worth 2x-3x as much now. Especially considering it is used to catch semi auto brass. I need to find a black pillow case and sell it as a "tactical" brass catcher. The word "tactical" adds 50% to the price these days.
  7.   Fixed it for you.   Dolomite
  8.   Might want to try it. MBC lube is there for looks more than for lube. I fought a leading problem with their bullets for years until I lubed them with Alox on the advice of a long time cast bullet shooter. Leading when away with no other changes.   I have found the MBC bullets tend to be a bit small for some guns. I cast my own now and try to run .002" over the slugged bore diameter.
  9. Subsonic 300 Blackout 4.4 cents a round. Supersonic 300 Blackout 7.3 cents a shot. 9mm 4.5 cents each and 45 ACP for just under a nickel.   Dolomite
  10. I used about $5 worth of PVC to make a frame then I covered it with an old pillow case. I fold up the edge to catch the brass. Might take a few rounds to figure out where to place the pillow case. Dolomite
  11. Take 1/2 the bullets then add what you think is enough Alox. Swirl around then add the rest of the bullets, without any more Alox, and tumble some more. A few minutes max. Then let them sit in the container and shake a couple of times a day for a couple of days.   Dolomite
  12. You will probably find your leading problem will diminish. I would tumble lube them with Lee Alox, trust me.   They think the harder bullets can be pushed harder and they can but in a pistol like 45 ACP there is no need for a hard bullet. I had a leading problem with the 18 brn bullets. I called them and they kept saying I needed to push them harder. I quite when those 200 grain bullets were getting real close to 1,100 fps. And I still had leading. It was because they were too hard and didn't obturate well.   The only time I have seen leading with a properly lubed bullet is when I was shooting pure lead. You need a soft bullet to prevent leading.   If it leads at the chamber end then the bullet is too hard or undersized or both for the bore. If it is leading at the muzzle then the velocity is too high.   Dolomite
  13. Not sure the vertical foregrip on the 1"x4" is legal :)
  14. This is crazy. I wonder how this study will improve humankind beyond what is being spent? How is the information on a duck penis going to help us?   http://cnsnews.com/news/article/384949-federal-study-looks-plasticity-duck-penis-length   $384,949 Federal Study Looks at 'Plasticity in Duck Penis Length'     The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded a $384,949 grant to Yale University for a study on “Sexual Conflict, Social Behavior and the Evolution of Waterfowl Genitalia”, according to the recovery.gov website.   The grant description says,“The project examines how reproductive morphology covaries with season, age, and social environment in a diverse sample of duck species that differ in ecology, territoriality and breeding system."   The grant was made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, better known as the stimulus package.   The project has been receiving money from the NSF since 2009 and is slated for funding through July of this year.   “In the last quarter, we have prepared a manuscript for submission on the results of the first two years of experiments on social phenotypic plasticity in duck penis length in Lesser Scaup and Ruddy Duck. Experiments continued on genital social phenotypic plasticity in Mandarin Duck and Laysan Teal,” a 2010 fourth quarter recovery.gov update on the study says.   Many duck penises are cork-screw shaped and some scientists believe this is because of a form of evolution known as "sexual conflict".   NSF spokeswoman Deborah Wing told CNSNews.com the updated title of the study is "Sexual Conflict, Social Behavior and Evolution." Wing says, "The study met the criteria of the NSF panel of scientific peers as part of the grant approval process."   According to the NSF grant abstract the study shows that age, environment and breeding changes can impact the penis length of certain ducks, “Preliminary results of the project, suggest that male competition plays an important role in the evolution of waterfowl reproductive morphology, that male reproductive morphology is plastic depending on age and condition, and between species with different breeding systems.”   "The NSF strives to be good stewards of taxpayers dollars," Wing says, "Basic research often is combined with other research efforts and turns into bigger things." "Government funded grants for research have assisted in creating the barcode and Google," Wing added.   The NSF grant abstract states, “Broader impacts of the research will be international, national, local, and personal."   Among those having a personal experience with the study are young minorities. “The project will incorporate high school students from under-represented minorities through the Yale University EVOLUTIONISTS program,” the NSF grant page says.   E-mail and phone attempts by CNSNews.com to contact the study’s Principal Research Investigator, Richard Prum, a professor at Yale University, were unreturned.
  15. This looks like ti will be good for those caught up in the cash seizures around Nashville we have been hearing about the last few years.   http://ij.org/tennessee-bill-would-abolish-civil-forfeiture   http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/default.aspx?BillNumber=HB1078&GA=108
  16. Keep the AR and get a 22 conversion for small game. A DI AR will go thousands of rounds without cleaning, I have done it. The 223 round is more than capable of taking game in east Tennessee. And in a true SHTF situation ammunition and magazines can be found in the back of nearly every patrol car you see. And the 223 round is the most popular centerfire round with government agencies as well as with most civillians anymore. Ammunition is small and lightweight so you can carry more. Most tactical gear you might come across is AR compatible. Optics are readily available and do not require a special mount. You can clear a house with an AR, not so much with a bolt gun.   The biggest advantage to the AR is you already have it.   If you want something with a bit more range pick up a Mosin but honestly a AR with a scope will exceed the range of a Mosin with irons.   Dolomite
  17. I doubt it because they said they would be producing within 30 days of the move. That tells me they are moving into a place that is already built.   Dolomite
  18. I shot a suppressed MP5 a lot overseas. I would not turn one away even if the rounds cost $1 each to shoot.   I would really like to have a 10/22 with a Norrell pack in it. Unfortunately $10K is a bit more than I can justify for what would amount to a toy.
  19. I will bring something to eat as well. Not enough for everyone but more than I can eat. Dolomite
  20. Are they empty boxes? If not you found the Holy Grail. Dolomite
  21. And he is another Democrat with a "R" next to his name.   Dolomite
  22. I will be easy to spot. I will be walking with crutches. I might have a gun or two with me as well.   Dolomite
  23. We absolutely have to make sure that a roll call vote is done and never a voice vote on any legislation. The voice vote is how the Hughes Amendment was passed. Had it been a roll call vote we would be able to buy brand new machine guns still.   The fight is hardly over, they have decided to switch tactics and probably move into the shadows.   Dolomite
  24. Predator Custom Shop can handle your transfers. They are great people and will do you right.   The process is pretty straight forward.   Dolomite
  25. I would gladly give up the money I have and will have to be able to buy a brand new Colt M16/M4 for $1,200. Dolomite
