  1. Might be the powders are more efficient now than back then and that is why they do not need as much powder.   Look a Lil'Gun, it has pressures much less than any of the other powders. The reason? I was told by Hogdon that it is because of a new technology that allows them to get the same velocities with less pressures.
  2. Yes it does :)   My wife keeps all her old scented candles and I use them. Nothing stranger than smelling something nice floating down the firing range line. Next time I do it I am going to mix imitation bacon flavor in with the wax.
  3. Do that have shot in them or just wax?   I melt the was with shot then dip both into a hull. When they cool it shoots like a slug but explodes ones it hits something. I shot some at cardboard boxes. On the entrance it was a small hole and 12" later it was a 4" hole.
  4. He is perfectly legal according to the ATF.   He can get in trouble if he has a stock and only the weapon pictured in the same bag or in close proximity.
  5. We changed it because who are we to say what is fair. It had very little to do with price checking each ad and had everything to do with minding our own business. We have no right to dictate what someone can sell something for and that is why we changed it. The market, as in the buyer and seller, will dictate what is fair. Who would have thought a DPMS AR was worth $2K but a few months ago it was.   And just because something cost a certain amount doesn't mean prices haven't gone up. Check the MSRP of a 1969 Camaro vs today or a 1967 Corvette.   The .20 a round you guys keep referring to was in fact a DEAL. Don't believe me, then why did it sell very quickly? Try to find Eley for .20 a round. I know the last time I bought some, before this craziness, it was $12 for a box of 50 or .24 a round. Yeah the Eley Club is cheap but it is no better than any other cheap ammo. Or better yet try to find any 22 ammo right now. And .20 a round is still far better than not having ammo. I suspect some of us here who are complaining about it are going to be begging for .20 a round later this year.   Thing is we are going to have a very, very long road to go down as far as ammo is concerned. This is more than just a supply and demand problem as the ammunition makers are running 24/7 now. And it isn't just the gougers buying it all up or people stockpiling. The government has finally figured out, like I said years ago, that limiting ammunition is the way to make people more inclined to give up their guns. The huge ammo purchases are not for the government's use but to prevent us from getting our hands on it long term. .20 a round is going to be a steal in a year or two regardless of caliber. Surplus reloading materials are no longer able to be sold to the public like before. This is to put a burden on those that reload. And as those that reload can attest all of the buying by the government has dried up all components.   Here is a video that explains a lot about what is going on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=SxLMviYH95o#t=0s
  6. And one more thing. If the seller is asking too much for you then make them an offer or tell them but by PM only. Some sellers honestly think it is a fair price but if enough people counter offer with lower prices the seller might come down. But again use a PM if it can be viewed as negative in any way like public ally offering someone 10% of their asking price. If you have nothing positive to say then don't post it. If you absolutely must say something then take it to PM's but be respectful. Name calling, insults or using profanity will be addressed.
  7. If you think someone is gouging then just shut your dam mouth. Post something negative in someone's ad and you will be punished. If you have nothing positive to say the shut your mouth. What is going to happen is the classifieds are going to go back to no one allowing to ask questions or leave comments. And that will impact everyone who wants to sell. As much as I do not like it either we cannot force anyone to sell something for less than they want to. Just like the seller can't force a buyer to spend more. I suspect there are going to be a lot of people gone by Monday.
  8. Something else. Do not add too much media. Add the cases to the tumbler and turn it on. Slowly add the media until the cases just begin to roll. Too much media shields the cases from each other. The cases themselves do a lot of cleaning as they rub against each other.
  9. My bet is on a bad reload. I would like to see the primer of the kaboomed case. That will tell everything. If the primer is flat it is either a squib followed by a standard round or a round that was loaded beyond max pressure. Was he sure he was using the correct powder? I have read about a lot of kabooms because someone used the load data for one powder and was actually using another. There was even a post here recently were someone suggested swapping data between powders because they were next to each other on a burn chart. Where did you read a 9mm Glock had a kaboom with factory ammo? I call bad reloads on that one as well. I have loaded 9mm Glocks well beyond +P+ and never had a problem.
  10. I imagine this also takes powers away from local sheriff.   Dolomite
  11. Cut up 2-3 dryer sheets into 1" squares and put it in with the media. Something else that seems to help as well is add about a tablespoon of liquid car wax. Some people use NuFinish or TurleWax.
  12. There is some amazing stuff in that collection.
  13. There is a very old guy out in Maynardville that has some amazing pieces in a warehouse. Everything from mid 20's to the early 70's.   In Rutledge there was a Talledega Torino that had front end damage sitting in a yard. I tried for 3-4 years at different times to buy it. Then one day it was gone so I stopped in to ask where it had went. They told me sent it to scrap. They had an "oh well" kind of attitude when I told them they were worth a lot. I guess he realized he would never have the money to restore it so he may as well get a few hundred dollars for it.   My shop teacher in HS had a Superbird. He said he was driving through KY and seen it sitting in a McDonald's parking lot. He found the owner's and bought it for $2,500. He said it was rough but everything was there. It was a 440 4 barrel car. On highway 92 there is a guy who has a silver 1969 Daytona. I talked to him and he said it is the only silver 1969 produced. It is unreastored but does have some sun damage. He also had a few AMX's.   Dolomite
  14. For those who might actually care.   Got this in a monthly newsletter:
  15. Even if you are not in their districts you can still call or write. There is no law, that I am aware of, that says you can only call or write your own representative. You can even call or write representative from other states. It isn't likely they would even verify you are not in their district.
  16.   Is the lower engraved with the previous owner's name and city state?   If so make sure it still isn't registered as a SBR. If it was ask to see confirmation it was removed from the roles. If it is a SBR and you took possession you could get yourself in some hot water.
  17.   The explosives are not illegal. Using them to get paid without a license is. It is perfectly legal for an individual to make and use explosives providing they are not doing it as part of a business. Otherwise Tannerite would be illegal the second it was mixed.   If you use Tannerite to blow up your own stump it is perfectly legal. Using it to blow a stump for someone else that pays you is illegal unless you have the proper license.   Dolomite
  18. Because LE have to enter private property before the dog reaches the house. With a car it is on public property so the dog never enters private property while searching. Now if your car was on your property it would require the same rules as your house but on a public roadway not so much.   Personally I think LE should not be allowed on or in any part of your private property unless you call, invite them or they have a search warrant. They can stand at the end of the driveway and yell or call for your permission to enter. If they don't get permission to enter then they don't get to enter without a warrant.   I also believe the plain view rules should require a warrant to enter anything in order to search. Even if an officer looks into a car or home and sees something they believe is illegal they should be required to get a warrant signed by a judge before they can enter. The reason is they have no clue whether the item is illegal or not unless they are able to physically inspect it and to to do that they must enter which should require a search warrant. If a officer looks in a window and sees a bag he suspects is marijuana he cannot be sure unless he physically inspects it and to inspect it he needs a warrant. He can call a judge and explain he thinks he sees a bag of marijuana in plain view to get a warrant. But the officer cannot enter until he has a warrant in hand. The only exception would be if a life is in danger. There is no way an officer can know if a gun is a real gun or a airsoft gun. They cannot tell whether a bag of white powder is drugs or sugar or flour. They cannot tell whether a bag of green leafy substance is marijuana or some other legal substance. They are assuming the item they are seeing is illegal but they do not know until they test it and that should require a warrant.   Dolomite
  19. For your reloading supplies get a hold of DLM37015 on here. He runs the gun show circuit and can hook you up with anything you might need. He is a great guy who is honest. He has the lowest prices of anyone I know of and has a wealth of knowledge he readily shares. He is a veteran and does what is right 100% of the time. He also seems to find stuff no one else can get. I have known David for probably 5-6 years now and I an honored to know such great guy.   His daughter, Sam, also helps him out and she is as honest as David is.   Here is their website: http://magnummaterialstn.com/Staff.html   Dolomite
  20. I can honestly say I have never seen one like that before. Very nice piece.
  21. The 45 ACP headspaces on the rim so the longer chamber of the magnum will allow the ACP to go too deep to fire.   I would grab it and just chamber it in 45 LC.
  22. The 1917 looks very nice Pictures belong to jabonguns1 and/or GoC Link to original listing: http://www.gunownersclub.com/listings/firearms/rifles/220245.html BTW, I would trade in a heartbeat.
  23. They no doubt lied about the dog attack. I have owned dogs since I was 4 years old and I have never had a dog break a leash as they claim happened. What probably did happen is the dog was off the leash, which is against the law, when it attacked the seal. But because they are now the political elite they can lie about anything and everything with impunity.   He is a liar and is doing so for personal gain. Funny how a person can go from a honorable person who served in the military to a POS virtually over night. I can think of a couple of space shuttles I wish he would have been on.   Dolomite

  25. That is not US made ammo. It is Chinese knockoff ammo.
