form 1 error, what to do?
Dolomite_supafly replied to Stainless's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
My Form 1's will be in the mail in the morning. -
What a lot of people don't realize is that every single year, for probably the last 20, there have been at least a dozen bills introduced like this. We have beaten this one but don't think for a second there are not at least 10 more to follow this year alone. We need to thank those who helped defeat this one but also be prepared to send warnings to them again if they fail to do OUR bidding.

Be careful what you ask for because promotions can be frustrating.
Dolomite_supafly replied to mav's topic in General Chat
I used to always say I wanted a salary job when I worked hourly. 10 years ago I worked for a company that promoted me to supervisor and put me on salary. My pay went down and I ended up working an extra 20+ hours a week. And the extra work load as well as responsiblity was just an added kick in the nuts. I always thought my supervisor, prior to me getting promoted, was joking when he said I made more than him. -

It sounds like you have the form in your hand still. If that is the case redo the form and have CLEO sign off on it again. If it is already in the ATF's hands then do what MacGyver said. Who knows the examiner might fix it for you while you are on the phone. What did you put in for the manufacturer and what is it supposed to be? If it is already a firearm and you are making a SBR, SBS etc, then the name of the gun's original maker is what goes in there. If you are building something from scatch (like a suppressor) then your name, your city and your state goes in there. -
The person hitting the rear of another isn't always at fault. If it can be proven that the person in front intentionally caused the accident then they will be at fault. And acting on someone else's signal is not a defense either. If you cause an accident based on someone else's signal then you are at fault. If a person has a right turn signal on and you pull out in front of them thinking they are turning and you are hit it is your fault, not the fault of the person with the signal on. My wife drives the speed limit all the time. On the interstate people probably get upset but as long as she is doing the speed limit she is not breaking the law no matter how much the traffic backs up behind her. We don't care if the flow is doing 75 mph, if the speed limit says 55 mph that is what we are going to do. We don't care how many people are behind us or how upset they are we are not going to break the law or drive in a manner we feel is unsafe for anyone. And for those who do get upset and decide to pull up next to us we generally ignore them. On highways with a speed limit of 70 you can legally reduce your speed to 55 without breaking the law.

M4 Catastrophic Failure
Dolomite_supafly replied to c.a.willard's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Who knows maybe the bullet was scared into staying in the bore by the 60-70 mph spring winds. I don't think sand would be enough to cause a problem. It looks like a bore obstruction and probably a squib load rather than something stuck in the end of the barrel. I was at WSMR for a couple of years and the spring winds meant a new paint job on your car and to watch out for tumble dumpsters. The spring wind storms were miserable and were strong enough to pick up marble sized rocks and throw them at you. The winds kicked up so much sand that you always felt like you had a spoonfull of sand in your mouth. I was there when you could actually go to Juarez for the night and have a good time without fear. I guess I got out before the safety craze went full retard in the Army. The most we had was road guard vests at the front and rear of the formations. No knee pads or elbow pads. We did have our share of weak, panty wearing commanders and senior NCO's but they were a rarity before I got out. We also had some great, old school NCO's that realized wearing your heart on your sleeves wasn't the way to win a war. I have had several Lieutenants that were useless and actually had zero common sense. Most start out useless and are molded into decent leaders by NCO's. NCO's were generally better but we still had some were too afraid to make a simple decision without asking for opinions or making phone calls to seek permission. -
Now I remember. Here is what I found after his last banning. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/45268-nycrulesuinteresting-stuff/ He was not as brash or harsh this time but still had the same tendencies to push the limits of common sense.

Please explain? Also, even though some things might be legal they may not be smart. There have been a few who have proven this in the past. Think about this. In TN anyone who has a firearm on their person is breaking the law. This gives LE probable cause to investigate you to determine whether you have a valid defense to breaking that law. At a bare minimum you will have LE make contact with you. And at that point they will be investigating a crime and looking for evidence of other crimes to charge you with. Worst case scenario you get arrested for something and it costs you thousands of dollars in legal fees. Even if I knew i was 100% right I would still hire an attorney which costs money. Even public defenders cost unless you can prove you are indigent. Then there is everything in between like citations or seizures of property. Personally I would grab a backpack and load it down if I was training.

45ACP. lead cast bullets. Hardness ratings.
Dolomite_supafly replied to vujade's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
The commercial bullet makers use the harder bullets to make them ship better. The shofter the bullet the better for the most part. There is a point where you get too soft and do get some lead smearing. I would keep the same load and just watch out for leading. I don't think you will have any problems and I suspect you might like them better. I run wheel weights at .452". My barrel slugged at .451"x.448". They are not water dropped. -

Somehow you have magically became a "Member" :) -
The problem with running reduced loads is they can be very inconsistent. You want 80% or more case fill and the bigger the case the more important it is. If you have a chronograph load a round and point the muzzle towards the sky to force all the powder to the back of the case. Shoot across the chronograph and record the results. Load the next round the point it at the ground and do the same. The results will surprize you. I have had rounds go supersonic when the powder was at the back of the case and subsonic when at the front.

I don't care how small or harmless something appears if it can break the skin and is aggressive I will protect myself. Now I may have to use a boot or I might have to shoot it but in either case I would hope I am in the right. There are several reasons to prevent any animal, no matter how small, from biting you. Rabies is a very serious disease and even the precautionary treatment for infection isn't exactly fun. Then there are the bacterial infections that can happen. Last year I was infected by a cat bite (our cat) and it was very painful as it had infected the tendons in my right hand. Doctor said if the antibiotics didn't help in 24 hours he was scheduling surgery because the infections spread really fast through the tendons. The night of the bite it felt like I had a serious burn under the skin. I did not sleep at all, or at least not much, from the pain. -
There is even a 22 Super Jet which is the same as the 22 Jet except it has a sharp shoulder rather than the tapered case. Think of it as a Ackley improved 22 Jet.

Before getting too worried use the TBI site to cross reference. What looks like you are surrounded might not actually be so. http://www.tbi.tn.gov/sorint/SOMainpg.aspx I would be mindful of them and make sure to know what their faces look like. I would also let your children know that they are "bad" people without specifics and tell your children to tell you if they the "bad" people ever try to talk to them. You cannot grief those on the sexual offender registry at all, which sucks. I wish it was a requirement for them to ALWAYS wear a hat or shirt that said "I am a sexual predator" as well as a sign in their front yard. Or a specialized license plate for their van. Any violent sexual predator or child molester should have to fight for their life in court. They should not be able to plea out or have treatment at tax payer expense. They must go to trial so the jury can see what type of predator they are then the defense has to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, how keeping them alive will benefit society. If the defense can't prove that or if the jury can't come to a unanimous decision on the punishment then the default is death. I honestly do not believe those who violently prey on others or molest small children have the ability to change. By default they should be put to death unless their are mitigating circumstances which I cannot think of any other than maybe severe mental illness and in those cases they should never be set free no matter how well the medication is working. The only exception is those cases in which the two parties are concenting and only if the youngest is at least 16 years of age while the eldest is no more than 19. If the youngest person is under 16 and the elder is 18 or older they are a sexual predator. If one is 16 or 17 and the other is 16, 17, 18 or 19 then no problem as long as they are concenting. And if there is more than 10 years difference between the minor and then the elder then the elder should be classified as a violent sexual predator and face the consequences above. I read an article a few years back out of, I believe, Georgia where a 17 year old female was dating her 17 year old boyfriend. They were having consensual sex and when he turned 18 he was arrested and charged with child rape. If I remember correctly the girl turned 18 a few months later. I know there was a big to do about it and he was found guilty which required him to register for life as a sex offender. In that case I believe the law was applied wrongly. There have also been cases of minors texting naked pictures of themselves only to be charged with tafficking in child pornography even though they are children themselves.

It will have an 8.8 rear so I would go with a steeper gear. It will make a huge difference in feel and should not affect gas mileage too much.

Hardly true. I have met several people wo dress like that who have HCP's and are gun owners. I say let them be. After all they are pretty easy to catch if they do decide to run from LE.

Anyone who has seen my carry 1911 will attest to it is well used. Shiny spots, matt blue and polished blue, SS and carbon steel. It is a mix match of parts but it shoots extremely well and has yet to fail in close to 4K rounds.

Why the GOP won’t challenge vote fraud
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
How about a HS diploma, or equivalent, required to vote? I don't agree with the owning property requirement even though I own property. I know a lot of people who feel renting is the way to go and honestly I sometimes wonder if it isn't the smarter choice. -

Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think making it a requirement that you filed will eliminate a lot of the problem voters. Not all of them but enough to make a difference. We have people voting now that have never filed taxes in their life and they are voting for people who will make the decisions on how taxes are being used. If you are not even willing to file then you shouldn't be allowed to vote. Not sure what to do about those that do file and bilk the system. That would be a nightmare to figure out and only add governement to manage it. At least the filing taxes requirement would eliminate some. For the filing taxes requirement have a yes or no database and have it available to all those administrating the voting centers. -

I am pretty sure there is a database of those who file taxes. Seems pretty straightforward to me. Show your ID, look you up on the database and go from there. Even if you don't pay taxes, just filing would be enough. -

I was speaking to a military member during the recent elections. If I remember correctly this happened a few days before the actual election. He said they were told to have their absentee ballots turned in by 7pm that day local time. Problem was they had not received them yet. And when they received the absentee ballots, the following day, they were told to fill them out but they would not be counted because they were not turned in the previous day. I really like the ink idea. Except use UV ink on top of indelible ink. That way they cannot tell when it is all washed off unless they buy a blacklight. I also hate early voting, it allows those who cheat to have more time to cheat. Elections should be held on a Saturday from 12 midnight to 12 midnight. Not during the week when people work. And finally, if you do not pay taxes, unless you are retirement age, you should not be allowed to vote. Why should someone who doesn't pay taxes have a say in how tax money is spent. -
+1 I rarely OC but when I do I ALWAYS have someone notice and almost always have someone comment. I could probably wear a lampshade or traffic cone and garner less attention these days than when I OC. Even though I have not been clean shaven in YEARS, and look scruffy most days, I get comments wanting to know which agency I work for.
