It is not an "explosive" until you mix it. Hint, the ingredients to Tannerite are fertilizer, a common and legal product, and aluminum, another common and legal product. Once the two are mixed it becomes an explosive but as sold Tannerite is perfectly legal. And according to the ATF it is perfectly legal for an individual to make explosives for personal use. Licensing requirements come in when you use your home made explosive to make money or you store it sell it already mixed. You cannot legally use those home made explosives to make a destructive device, like a pipe bomb or other offensive device.

I really like Nikon but their Spot On and BDC programs are not all that great. The rest of the world deals in 100, 150, 200, etc while Nikon deals in 137, 183, 212 and every other random number. At least with a mildot scope you can use it to determine the range to the target. No way that will happen with a Nikon BDC scope, trust me I have tried. You can use a mildot for holdover as well and it will work just as well as Nikon's BDC. I would rather have a reticle that does one thing well than one that does nothing well. Define gouge. Generally there should not be anything that looks like a shaving is coming off but there can be marks from the bullet guiding itself into the chamber.

Murfreesboro Police gun buyback this Saturday
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
But that one is a FULL AUTO. In its current condition it would bring $10K+ if it was transferable and in mint close to $20K. I would gladly give $5K if it was transferable. -
If you are worried about it I would have it transferred through a FFL. If you go through an FFL you will only be out $10 if the guns comes abck stolen. Also, if you ask someone to do a transfer on your dime and they refuse I would reconsider the purchase. Even if you don't do the transfer the question along would give you a good indication of whether the seller is on the up and up.

Time to beat the dead horse some more.
Dolomite_supafly replied to Tobashadow's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It is a really bad idea. It only serves to embolden an idiot even more than carrying a firearm. It allows people to wrongfully intimidate or scare people. And finally I think anyone with a badge is impersonating LE. I met a guy who had one. He said he was either going to wear it on his belt or around his neck. He said he would be able to flash his badge to prevent a crime. He also said when, not if, he had to shot someonoe he could wave his badge to responding LE so they won't shoot or arrest him. I never talked to or seen him again to see how well his plans worked out but I susoect they didn't. -
Anyone in Taiwan can be standing next to you inside of 24 hours. The world is a much smaller place than it was a century ago. And while on the plane the infected can contaminate other passengers and then they can take the illness onto the next plane to infect countless more. Unless air traffic was stopped 100% any potential epidemic would be worldwide in a few days if the carrier where on an airplane of any major airline. I have several masks including a high end mask. I honestly have zero intentions of leaving my property if an outbreak occurred. I am in a very rural are and I am 100+ feet from my dead end road as well as 500+ feet from my nearest neighbor. So I can hopefully ensure no one gets close enough to infect me.

Boston bombs built from fireworks
Dolomite_supafly replied to Glenn's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Pretty sure fireworks are illegal in Boston. -
Not worth the money. Give me a day or two to poke around. I am in the market for a similar scope as what youare looking for. Do you want the best for $400 or if you can save some cash and geta decent scope for less which would you want? You can get a dcent scope for shooting to 300-400 for less.

The only time you can eneter a post office with a firearm is if it is a long gun and you are shipping it. It is legal to ship long guns through the postal office but not handguns.
-
And it is against the law for anyone within the state's borders to carry a firearm. Anyone who has any gun on their person has broken the law, this includes those with HCP's. Now a subpart to the same law that was broken, by carrying a firearm, has defenses listed and having a valid HCP is a valid defense to the law. Because the law has been broken this gives LE probable cause to investigate anyone who is carrying a firearm. Then Law Enforcement uses that probable cause to investigate and determine if the person who broke the law has a defense to the law. If you carry a firearm into the post office you have violated not just state law but federal law as well. Makes no difference whether the gun is loaded or not as the firearm is what is forbidden. I would strongly suggest you leave the firearm in your vehicle before entering a post office.

Boston bombs built from fireworks

Google "sparkler bomb" if there is any doubt at how easy it can be. -
Glad to see you are in good spirits and doing well. If there is anything I can do personally, or on here, feel free to ask and I will do what I can. I have stayed quiet during this just to let you heal and get back to life as you knew it. If you feel like talking Dave has my number and you can call anytime.

Warning we are doomed....break out your swim suits !!!! The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulafft, at Bergen, Norway. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable. BTW, this was an article in the Washington Post from 1922 and reported by the AP the same year. Seems like it would have happened in the past 90 years if it was going to happen as dramatically as they claim. I am all about protecting the enviroment from pollution but I believe any climate change we see is the normal eb and flow. According to Snopes it is factual. http://www.snopes.com/politics/science/globalwarming1922.asp

I miss Ronald Reagan...
Dolomite_supafly replied to RobertNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Maybe we should if we get control of both houses in 2014 but I have a sneaking suspicion just the opposite is going to happen. I am surprized no one has challenged it based on the video alone. -
Now This is a Shock!
Dolomite_supafly replied to MarkInNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
They were US citizens just like you and I. I would like to hear why they are not "domestic terrorists". I say this is the same as Timothy McVeigh's attack. Timothy McVeigh was a domestic terrorist. He killed for political reasons. He used explosives. The only difference is he killed a lot more people. He is a US citizen and should be treated as any other US citizen. Same rights as any other citizen who commited a crime. They should charge him with the appropriate crime, send him before a jury of his peers and if convicted he should be punished according to what the courts determine. -

Well he did sign into law the ban on the sale of new machine guns to civillians. As well as supporting the assault weapons ban. It was his strong support of the ban on assault weapons that likely led to it passing congress in 1994. He was pro 2nd amendment during the beginning of his presidency but made a 180 degree turn at the end of his presidency. Reagan even teamed up with Jummy Carter and Gerald Ford to push for a ban on assault weapons. So I say he did a lot, a lot that we should not forget as gun owners. -
Seriously, forget about the BDC. They are pretty useless for precision shooting and ranging targets.
-
Forget about any BDC scope because they rarely match the accurate load for your gun. Get a mildot and use it.

And now I need to build a semi auto Chipmunk in 300 Blackout, thanks a lot for giving me the idea dear.

The Bill of Rights was written for Dzhokar Tsarnaev

Good, now interview him and get this over and done with as soon as possible. That way he can meet his 72 virgins and I wonder if they are women or men or goats though. You know what I am hoping for. The longer this drags on the more the radicals will begin to honor him and we do not need that. -
For 300 yards most any scope with a 9x to 16x maximum magnification will work great. What budget are you looking at? I am a budget minded builder and am always trying to compare scopes. Some of the greater "budget" scopes are Super Sniper, Vortex, Mueller and Hawke as well as the usuals like Bushnell, Burris and Simmons. It is a matter of finding what features you want in the scope. I will say that illumination, for most people, is a useless feature. I would say an adjustable objective, either side, front or rear, is a must with any precision rifle. I would also strongly suggest easily adjustable turrets with the ability to track your adjustment. Think of them as "target" turrets and they must be resettable to zero. You do not need any base with MOA angles on it if you are shooting under 500 yards. As long as the scope is decent you will more than have enough adjustments. A problem with some bases is it is impossible to zero the gun at 100 yards or less. I would strongly recommend a mildot and learn to use it. They are very, very easy to learn to use and then you can use it for range finding. And if you decide you don't want to use it you can still use it as a regualr reticle or even a BDC reticle. I never thought I would need a mildot. Then I bought one and will never be without one again. I have 22's with mildots. For rails the best bang for the buck is Ferrell bases. There are some that are cheaper and some that are more expensive but for the cost it is hard to beat a Ferrell. After that I would really consider Leupold bases and rings. They are durable and have been in use for decades now. EGW also makes a decent base that is about 1/3-1/2 the cost of a Ferrell.

Had??? Yeah, thats right I had it and I no longer have it now. So now I need to buy another gun to replace it. Remember I sold it and told you I did so I could buy another gun?

I was referring to the requirement to pay a by name tax on firearm purchases that Reid through out a few weeks or months back. Almost like filing a W2 except declaring the firearms purchased.
