Where do y'all conduct your private sales?
Dolomite_supafly replied to MrJones79's topic in General Chat
Depends on the seller. If I am selling to someone I do not know I ask two questions, "Are you a citizen of Tennessee?" and "Are you prohibited from owning a firearm?". If they answer correctly I take their cash and hand them a gun. If a seller wants me to fill out a form with all kinds of personal information I walk.- 43 replies

Man I really miss Mexico sometimes. Most people only see the border region and think that is what all of Mexico is like but once you get a bit inland the country is a totally different country.

Who wants TGO Laser Engraved Orca Chaser Coffee Mugs?
Dolomite_supafly replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I got mine and I must say these things are AWESOME. I was never big on using cups but I must say that this is going to change that, it really is an amazing cup. -
AKs have their bolts exposed, doesn't seem to bother them too much.

I make holsters for myself, it isn't that hard. I use a vacuum sealer to mold the leather after washing. If you wash the leather in hot water using a good dish soap the leather will stiffen up. I just made a holster that is as thin and as stiff as kydex. I hand stitch all of mine and they take a few hours to finish stitching. Total time is under four hours.

Yes but that machine shop MUST be a licensed manufacturer even if HPA passes. And they will not be able to compete with silencer manufacturers already in business. The biggest reason why is baffle designs are patented so they either have to spend a ton on research to design their own, license the design or risk being sued for patent infringement. And baffle designs are guarded ferociously by those who hold the patent. One could build a silencer for under $20 in materials and it will be decent.

I would not be able to make them with the intent to resell or maje them for sineone else. But if I made one and later decided to sell it that would be legal although I never would. It is perfectly legal for me to sell the silencers I have already registered to make and have made for myself. Being home made, both firearms and silencers, doesn't preclude them from being sold later on. Anyone legally able to possess the firearm can legally make that firearm for themselves. They can later sell it so long as the intent was not to resell when it was made. I know intent is hard to prove but if you are making and selling dozens a year the intent is pretty clear. The way I have interpreted everything I have read is it will be no different than me making a firearm for myself. I will be able to legally make them for myself and I will later be able to sell them but I cannot make them for someobe else or with the intent to sell them. And just so this is as clear as I can be, I will NEVER make any silencers or firearms for anyone else, ever, without being able to do so legally and right now it is not legal for me to do so. I will never engage in ANY activity that could result in my arrest. Today I was looking into becoming a manufacturer ahead of the HPA and there is no way I could justify the cost needed to be able to legally manufacture firearms and silencers. The cost for the licenses is cheap, $650, but the ITAR is what costs so much. Anyone manufacturing "weapons of war" or "articles of defense", even if you do not export, are supposed to pay the ITAR fee which is over $2,000 a year. Even firearms that will never be in the hands of our military can, and often do, fall under the ITAR. You don't have to pay the ITAR if you submit design specifications, including schematics, and they determine that it is not a defense article. You must do that for each individual item you intend to sell.

Dealer FFl transfer for family out of state
Dolomite_supafly replied to jwhjwh54's topic in Handguns
The biggest reason some FFLs don't like guns from individuals, at least from what I have been told, is it increases the chance of receiving a stolen firearm. -

Dolomite_supafly replied to jwhjwh54's topic in Handguns
Yes, it needs to transfer through an FFL in Tennessee. Make sure the FFL will accept transfers from individuals, some will not. -
I won't buy a single silencer but what I will do is build a bunch. A person can buy every part and screw everything together, only took you need is a drill.

Pulling bullets...lesson learned
Dolomite_supafly replied to gregintenn's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I once tore town a 1,440 round case of 7.62x25 using an impact puller. After figuring out a rythym it wasnt too bad. still took me the better part of an afternoon to finish. I was really surprised the kinetic puller didny fall apart after that many. -
I would like to see the person capable of throwing a case of ammunition from the road to my porch. The exterior box looked perfect so I think it was just used as a giant baby rattle. It wasn't exactly packed well either. The shipping container was a lot bigger than the case of ammunition yet there was not any packaging materials to keep the ammunition form moving around. SGAmmo is taking care of it, I kept 200 rounds to load magazines for testing and sent the rest back for them to swap. In case no one knows this is the best self defense ammunition for 7.62x39. It is built like a typical varmint bullet with a pre scored jacket to help expansion. Penetration less than 12" in gel while still working great on hard targets like glass, car doors etc. Today I plan on doing some expansion tests if I have time. The original 8M3 dried up about 15 years ago and has been sought after ever since. SGAmmo had the original manufacturer of the bullet do a run of bullets. Then SGAmmo paid Tula to load this ammunition with the 8M3 bullet. They also have sealed primer pockets and case mouths. As soon as I make sure it performs as intended I will be buying a few more cases.

This is a case of newly released 8M3 ammunition I had delivered two days ago by UPS.

A guy local to me had his house broken into and a bunch of guns were stolen. If you seen someone selling a collection of guns bounce it off this list and if they match up get as much information as you can and call the police. Old 22 single shot 20 gauge single shot Ruger 10/22 without a clip Black powder 1858 Navy (I believe it is a reproduction but not positive) 12 gauge single shot Mossberg 3 boxes of 270 ammunition Also stolen was a 16 gauge double barrel shotgun that belonged to the guy's father. The rest of the guns are run of the mill and probably won't raise an eyebrow but a 16 gauge double should. I cannot remember the last time I seen a 16 gauge double so that is what will catch the thieves. So if anyone here hears about someone selling a 16 gauge double in east Tennessee please notify police if it doesn't seem legit. And for everyone else out there, keep your stuff locked up because the thieves seem to be working overtime this year. I hope the Grinch steals a few souls from these thieves this year. Thanks

http://wate.com/2016/12/16/toys-for-anderson-county-children-in-need-stolen-from-parked-vehicle/ For those of you who do not know the Rocky Top community is a relatively poor community. Not a lot of families can afford to celebrate Christmas like a lot of use do. And that is what makes this so much worse, they have stolen gifts meant for the children of poor families. For some of those kids this was going to be the only gift they receive this season. The thieves stole over 300 small gifts meant for the underprivileged children of the Rocky Top community. I cannot imagine the thought process because it was likely someone from the Rocky Top community who stole the items from the needy children within that community. I spoke with the people organizing the event and they were able to have a decent time for the kids although it was not as good as it would have been had the thieves not stolen Christmas but it was as good as it could be considering the circumstances. The packages were stolen less than 24 hours before the gift giving ceremony and that left a lot of members of the community scrambling to make up the loss so no child would be left out. I am not posting this so others will donate, the event is already over and done with. I am posting this because the more people hear about it the better the chance is the thieves who stole Christmas from 300+ children will be caught. The thieves didn't stop with the theft of the gifts either. This is put on for the less fortunate kids in the community and normally these kids would also receive free photos with Santa but not this year. Not only did the thieves take the gifts but they also took the setup the event organizers bought so the children can have their pictures taken with Santa. And as bad as that is it is not the worst part of it. The worst part is the thieves threw a lot of what they stole into a creek, including the picture taking setup, this made the pictures for the children that much more difficult. So not only did they steal Christmas from the children but they also stole the only photos some of these kids will ever get with Santa. In my opinion stealing from poor children is about as low as you can get as a human being but to then destroy some of it just to grief the less fortunate kids is less than human. So if anyone has any information regarding this call the number in the quote. Those responsible had better hope they are in jail before the community finds out who they are. There are a lot of people who are looking for those responsible and not because they want the bad guys to go to jail. They are hoping for some backwoods justice before LE can catch them. I honestly hope the thieves get everything they deserve and then some.

Well that depends. I honestly believe yoga pants, as well as spandex pants, should not come in XXL. Yoga pants and spandex were never meant to be worn by someone who has to pour themselves into an XXL. The materials used to make spandex must be some strong material, I cannot imagine the tensile strength they have in order to survive some of the bodies they are holding in.

Also, when you have the gun in hand give me a call so we can figure this out. The PSA FCG can be made to work but it requires some work. Are you sure the trigger return spring is on the trigger? It sounds like it is not applying the right pressure to reset if you can flip the safety to get it to reset.

This is about the 5th PSA FCG I have heard with this issue in the past month. Seems to be a different brand of FCG fixes it.

I got mine in the mail yesterday and I must say everything will get used, especially the the Hillary butthole tissue. Didn't want to call it "facial tissue" because it will never touch my face. Opened a bottle of beer within minutes of getting the opener and it will get used every day. The tank is cool, still trying to figure out the caliber and origin based ont he headstamp. And the ammunition will definitely go to good use, I am definitely and AK guy now. I've got a few guns to tune and this will be perfect. Thanks to my Secret Santa.

And the ever present sock dealers, are they not supposed to have some sort of federal license to pedal their wares inside a "gun show loophole zone". Or the Nazi paraphernalia dealer who swears he is not a white supremacist nor a member of the clan, yeah right. Or that one dealer that you swear shouldn't be able to own guns because every square inch of exposed skin is covered with what looks like prison tattoos, including his face. Anyone who has been to the Knoxville show knows EXACTLY who I am talking about. There are also those gun show patrons who think soap and water is such a precious commodity that they would never waste it on themselves.

Trust and New Regs

It will. Any transfer will cost $200 except those transfers to heirs. A trust cannot be an heir to an individual. -
My first silencer/suppressor: Yankee Hill Phantom

Avoid the Ruger bolt action in 300 Blackout. They are working through some issues and right now they are unreliable except for a few brands of ammunition. Remington bolt guns are good to go but I would not pick a bolt action as my first single shot. The two that I would recommend as far as ease of use and absolute enjoyment are either an Encore or a H&R AAC Handi Rifle. You can find the H&R for under $250 if you wait some and search some. The Encore is going to be a bit more but you also get a lot more in the way of easy caliber changes. The triggers tend to be nicer on the Encores as well. I have a Bargera barrel on my Encore and it is a nice barrel. I also have a Savage bolt action in 300 Blackout. I have a Contender in 300 Blackout as well as an AR in 300 Blackout. Without a doubt the Encore gets shot 90% of the time. I do not shoot my AR because single shots have spoiled me with how quiet they are. -

Those look great! They are also short and stubby, like most cast bullets, so it should be really stable for a jacketed bullet. Are they stable in 10 twist barrels? My 270g+ bullets are on the edge of being stable in a 10 twist at subsonic velocities. Down to what velocity will they expand? I am finalizing my 270-280 cast bullet I designed specifically for the 300 Blackout. I have been working on this for quite a while now. Actively working on it for at least two years and on the back burner for at least a decade. It comes in at just under 280 with pure lead and is ~270-~275 using COWW. Mine will be stable at subsonic velocities in the summer but in the winter I can't get them below the speed of sound and still remain stable in a 10 twist barrel. It seems to be stable at ~1,100 fps but is not at 1,000 fps. In 6,7 or 8 twist barrels mine are working great at least down to 900 fps. There is also a 300 Blackout specific magazine about to be released onto the market. It is the same as a aluminum milspec magazine except without the front ribs that interfere with the functioning with large subsonic bullets. Those magazines will work with 5.56 as well as 300 Blackout. The manufacturer of the magazines has also tested their magazine with my bullets. We have spoke a few times over the years. I think the last time we spoke I was working on some subsonic 7.62x25 Tokarev loads. I loved using Lil'Gun until I started using cast bullets. Lil'Gun seems to have more heat that causes some cast bullets to become molten. But if all I were shooting was jacketed Lil'Gun is about the best powder there is for both supersonic and subsonic loads. Now that I am mostly shooting cast I use IMR 4227 for AR's. I also use Blue Dot in my AR but the barrel needs to be under 10.5" or they will go supersonic. And it cycles great using Blue Dot. For my single shot only loads I use Trail Boss, a "surplus" pistol powder or Clays. I do compress the 5 grains of TB but so far I have not seen any major problems compressing it. Cool stuff, hopefully silencers will be removed from the NFA. Imagine the advancements we will see when anyone and everyone starts trying out different ideas. -

Now you need to get a single shot. AR's, even with a silencer, are obnoxiously loud compared to a single shot. If you want we can meet somewhere and you can hear what a single shot, loaded with single shot specific ammunition, sounds like. It is, literally, quieter than a slingshot. My single shot ammunition in my Encore is so quiet that all you hear is the hammer fall. Matter of fact it is louder dropping the hammer on an empty chamber because the primer cushions the hammer's fall. I also have some new 270 grain bullets that are even quieter because you use such a small amount of power.
