  1. Since when did midgets become a protected class? Handicapped yes but not midgets. Just because someone is "vertcally challenged" doesn't mean they are or should be a protected class.   I am handicapped, and will be for the rest of my life, and I feel that 99% of the laws written to protect me do nothing for me or the handicap community. Most put an undo burden on small businesses and it has nothing to do with making life better for the handicapped. I can guarantee that if one business was not handicap friendly another business would pop up to fill that need that was handicap friendly. Right now we have no way of knowing which businesses actually support the handicap community because every business has to be handicap friendly. I say let businesses choose what they want to support and let the customers decide whether they stay in business or not. If it were a choice for them to follow the law I would only support those businesses that are actually handicap friendly, kind of like how we only support those businesses that support our priviledge to carry a firearm. When every business has to support our priviledge to carry a firearm then we have no way of knowing which businesses do not support the firearm community and we will mistakenly spend money with those businesses that actually hate us.   I said nothing about putting up a sign. I have refused to sell stuff to people based on where they live, used to do it all the time. Even here in the US I have refused to sell to people based on where they live. Anyone who is selling something should have a right to choose who they sell to. When we get to a point where a seller is forced to sell to someone they do not want to we may as well put a lit match to the Constitution because we have lost. I should have the right to refuse to sell to anyone and should not have to give a reason. But if the reason is because they are a certain race or religion so be it. I mean how many of us would sell a firearm to a Mexican along the border, especially after it broke out in the news about the cartel investigations. Or how many would sell fertilizer and fuel oil to a Muslim using a U-Haul to transport it? I know I wouldn't in either case and that should be my right to refuse but there are some who think I should be forced to sell it to them and that is wrong.
  2. And even if they did only set themselves on fire in a airplane cabin that would be very, very damaging. That could easily take an airplane down.
  3. A property owner cannot keep you from protecting yourself, that is the "God given right". The ability to use a firearm to protect yourself is not a "God given right". That is a privilege given to you by the owner of the property you are on. It is the same as the freedom of speech.   I can set whatever conditions I want for guests. I can mandate that no one can have a $20 bill in their pocket and that I can search you if you want to be on my property. You can either comply or leave. Freedon of speech is also another right that people seem to think they have a right to excercise anywhere but they do not. No one has the right to continue to say what they want on my property if I don't want you to. You can either leave of your own will or be forcibly removed.   Personally I think all property owners should be able to choose who they allow on their property even if they are a business open to the public. They should be able to tell anyone, for any reason, to leave or refuse to do business with them.
  4. I poked and prodded it for a few minutes and it seemed very docile. A blacksnake is a whole lot more aggressive. Either way I do not want it around because of my animals. We already spend a metric ton of money on them, don't need another bill.   I have seen them bigger but they are a rare sight. I see copperheads 5 to 1 to rattlesnakes.
  5. It had rattles, about 5-6, and was about 2.5 feet long.   Heck, if we wind up at the range this weekend I will bring the rattles for you if something hasn't drug it off yet.   eta: something already grabbed it.   I don't see them very often but they are here. Copperheads are more plentiful.
  6. Household bleach is a short term solution. Bleach will break down into salts within a few years. Calcium hypochlorite is a much better solution because it stores indefinitely. It is available at most pool supply stores.   As far as distilling water I would try to find a beer keg and use it. They are generally stainless steel and it is easy to rig up a still to evaporate water. You can also use it to distill alcohol for fuel and medical uses. You can get them from most liquar stores for $45 for a full sized keg that is empty. Heck, even a basic tea pot will distill water on a small scale.   Here is a home made handpump I made. It is easy and cheap. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/42752-how-to-home-made-handpump-for-water-all-parts-at-lowes/?hl=pump I use it to pull water from about 40 feet below.   I learned a lot last year when our power went out for 4 days. I learned then water was our weak spot so I installed the hand pump and have several containers I can use to collect rain water.
  7. If it is in the contract then that is what should be followed, nothing more and nothing less. The property owner cannot arbitrarily change the contract in mid contract and if they do they need to pay. But with that being said the property owner can stipulate any condition in the contract and as long as it doesn't violate laws it is perfectly legal. The property owner can mandate in the contract that all tenants wear pink and drive a Yugo. And if the tenant signs the contract they must follow those rules and if they don't they are in violation of the contract.   This is not a constitutional issue at all. It is a contractual issue.   Property owners cannot take away a person's right to protect themselves but they can mandate how a person does protect themselves while on their property. No one has a right to carry a firearm, or any other item, on someone else's property against the property owner's wishes. Just like no one has the right to say or wear what they want on someone else's property.
  8. Ammo cannot be shipped like a holster or other items. It must be shipped ORM-D which does cost extra. Overall I think their shipping charges are more than they should be. Everything I have ordered in the last year would have been cheaper using a flat rate box.
  9. I have spoke to him. I met him while waiting on a flight to DC. He seemed like a great guy and was pleasureable to chat with. He made his money desiging and selling machines for the bowling industry. And then he came up with a revolutionary, according to him, way to rifle barrels. He patented it and uses it to make his barrels. He wouldn't get into details but he said it is quicker than conventional rifling and much better. He claimed that his barrels will hold down to a micron when air gauged. He also said they are the straightest bores anyone makes.   I have shot one of his barrels. It was a custom twist barrel for Aguila SSS rounds. The accuracy was ok but I think it had more to do with the Aguila ammo than his barrels.
  10. Just googled it and came up with this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourier_transform   I, for one, am glad you are not trying to discuss it here. On the wiki page it looks like writing I might find on the walls of one of the great pyramids and needless to say I am about as fluent in those calculations on wiki as I am fluent in in reading ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.
  11.   When they didn't comply it took the incident to a whole other level. At that point I have zero issue using helicopters to recon as well as doing what is necessary to safeguard the officers. When people refuse a request by LE it is hard to know their intentions and at that point the shelter personnel must have known they were looking at felony charges. People do strange things when they are facing jail time, especially serious jail time. They are criminals that were committing felonies, nothing less, and should have been treated as such.   I hope they toss every charge they can at these people. They refused LE but they were likely going to let a young fawn slowly die over a period of weeks or months. And finally there is the potential for human and animal populations to become sick and DIE. Chronic Wasting Disease is fatal in humans and it can be passed from deer to humans. It takes months and years to slowly die in humans.
  12. Those who broke he law should foot the bill for the raid and all related expenses. They should also be charged criminally for the laws they broke as well as the laws they conspired to break by transporting wildlife across state lines. The shelter is the one responsible for causing the raid not the officers. Once again lets let emotion dictate law. And don't get me wrong, I am a die hard animal lover. With that I will say that humans, even those with good intentions, cause more damage to animals than animals can cause to themselves.
  13. The driver was probably an ass when he ordered the pizza and the minimum wage goon sprinkled his pizza with hot pepper flakes or jalepeno juice. Having been around pepper spray I can say that there is no way a 1/4 second burst would go unnoticed in a car.
  14. I am so glad I cast and reload. All the calibers I cast for cost less than 22lr to load.
  15. Wow, never realized LL went up that much. I know my price was from a year or two ago but never figured prices would have nearly doubled since then.   They use the voice vote to speed up the legislative process on votes that everyone knows will go one way or another. No need to take the time and hassle of doing a by name vote when everyone knows 99% of those present will vote for one side. Problem is it allows things like this to happen.   It would be great if we could have it reversed. If it was, through some freak chance, reversed I would spend $5K tomorrow. $1K to register 5 AR lowers as MG's and $4K registering 20 random serial numbers as MG's. Then once they all came back I would start the process of building sll sorts of MG's from kits.
  16. How about a copy and paste of the article?   Some script is running in the background and that is causing fits for me.
  17. First offense laws should be as they are right now because some people are unaware of how drunk they are when they get behind the wheel. I can forgive once,   Second offense, send them to prison for a significant time. Perhaps 5-10 years depending on the circumstances. On top of that seize everything they own, their car, their home, their bank or retirement acounts as well as anything of value. When released from prison give them $100 to find a hotel for the night. They can work to rebuild their life.   Third offense, same as second except this time seize any future federal benefits like Social Security or tax returns or any of the other government funded aid for individuals.   If during the DUI anyone is hurt or killed the money or property seized will be turned over to those that were hurt or the family of those killed by the person who was DUI. Additionally 10% of any earnings will be paid to those who were hurt or the family of those killed.   If the DUI is married or has a partner with joint property then treat it like a divorce. Sell everything of value and divide the assets between the person who is DUI and their partner. For all financial accounts split it right down the middle.   Seems harsh but a family loosing the main bread winner to a DUI would be in far worse condition.

  19. My vote will be for who ever is not the incumbent and will likely vote that way the rest of my life now. I am sick and tired of career criminals, err politicians, basing their decisions on what they want and not what we want. They are supposed to be our voice but it seems as though our voices have fallen on deaf ears for far too long. The politicians see our calls and letters as nothing more than a nuisance that gets in the way of their own personal agenda. They may choose to ignore our letters and calls but they can't ignore us at the polls.   I have wrote several representatives and what I got in return was a form letter. Even on different subjects I get the same "universal" letter that I have gotten in the past. They will say or do whatever they can to make us stop writing or calling.   I don't care if it is a local trustee, a mayor, the sheriff or president. If they are in office the day I go to vote I will not vote for them and try to persuade others to do the same.
  20. Rangle is a criminal that has been protected for decades by those he works with. His illegal exploits are well known and heavily documented.   His biggest farce was when he announced the Hughes Amendment passed. The Hughes Amendment was what made it illegal for civillians to buy or register newly manufactured machine guns. Those opposed to the amendment wanted a by name vote but Charlie Rangle, who was speaker of the house at the time, said it would be a voice vote. With a voice vote there is no record of who votes for what and the winner is declared by the Speaker. So when the voice vote overwhemmingly shot down the Hughes Amendment Rangle declared it passed. Even the person who reports the results announced the Hughes Amendment did not pass but Rangle declared it did and with that we are not allowed to buy new, or make our own, machine guns.   Prior to this Lightning Links were mail order items that sold for under $20. They now sell for $6K+. MAC11 machine guns were selling for under $200 and now sell for $4K+.   Oh and one more thing.....F**K Charlie!!!
  21. Mythbusters did a show on this about 6 years ago. It is basically the same as gun cotton except in the form of clothing rather than a block of cotton. http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-shows/mythbusters/videos/exploding-pants-minimyth.htm
  22. I will be there. Hoping David will be. I have some stuff he can use.
  23. If you can find a Lee hand primer they are the best. But only if it is the one that is NOT the XR. The original Lee hand primer was great then they decided to "improve" it by adding a step for the primers to climb. It works but it is a lot more finicky than the orginal.   The only drawback to the original Lee is the priming lever breaks easily. Good thing the new XR handle works and works better. Do not belive them when they say they will not interchange because they will.   I have no experience with any other hand priming tools but from people who have used others as well as the Lee prefer the Lee.
  24. I have wanted a T/C Contender for a couple of decades but always talked myself out of it. Well I recently came across a deal on one so I picked it up. I noa understand why they are so popular and why I should have never waited. It is an extremely accurate and handy firearm. The trigger is amazing and the gun is simple enough that it should remain reliable for decades.   So how does this become a project?   First, I should have a 300 Whisper/Blackout barrel in my hand by the end of the week. It is a 14" Bullberry barrel that will be chopped down to 8"-9" and threaded. And I am threading it for a silencer that I should have the paperwork back on sometime in December. The barrel will have iron sights installed but they will be the elevated type like you see on guns specifically made for a silencer.   Second, it came with a 22lr barrel that it amazingly accurate. I shot some one hole groups at 35 yards when it wore a scope. It now has irons so I will zero it for 50 yards and call it good. It too will be theaded for a 22 silencer I already have. It will be   Thanks to onemancoyote here for all the advice and a nice Pachmayr grip for it. It also has a from factory forearm that is plastic. I drilled it for a sling swivel so I can now use a bipod. And when all this is done I will probably do a Form 1 on it and make it a SBR. Even with a 16" barrel it is an extremely compact package and especially so with a folding stock. With a 8" barrel and folding stock it will be an extremely tidy package.   The best part of the Contender? The ability to swap calibers in 10 minutes, or less, to anythign under the sun. I was talking to a guy today who has a .50-70 barrel that he uses to shoot 50BMG projectiles at 600 fps then 5 minutes later he is shooting 22lr. After my 300 BO barrel my next barrel with be 14" 223 that will be threaded for a 223 or the 308 can I am building when the paperwork comes back.   And yes I know this thread is worthless without pictures. They are coming but not until it is coming.
  25.   Fixed the headline for you.
