  1.   We don't use spray any longer.   It is  super, secret detection software that TGO uses to detect known trolls. It is similar to what the government used to develop PRISM, the program that monitors our emails and phone calls. When a potential troll registers to become a member of TGO the troll's retinas are scanned, through their webcam without their knowledge, and that unique physical characteristic is then automatically sent to a secret troll database. Then once we are aware they might be a troll we monitor their activities or in this case the indicators are strong enough that it automatically removed him to prevent possible trolling.
  2. This is a known issue with certain guns. I forget the fix but it is a home fix that take a few minutes.   I will try to find the solution.
  3. I used to watch the birds come in loaded with wounded from the Korengal. It was every single day at least one bird came in. Even though it was not my job I made sure I was there to help if they needed it.   I was about 8K away from the valley and got attacked pretty regularly but nothing like those soldiers in the Korengal. Those guys would take a beating almost every single day.
  4. Yes, the Norris PD gives you a key after you pay and sign their release of liability. The range itself is about 5 minutes from the PD.   I am a member of Norris and the Moose lodge. I have been to John Sevier more times than I can count.   If I am going to shoot and not worry about people I go to the Moose Lodge.   If I want to talk to people and just enjoy the community I go to Norris.   If I want to have people try to steal my brass, get an attitiude or give me unwelcomed comments I go to John Sevier. I have tons of stories about JS. From people flat out trying to steal to people who were so full of crap I had to stop shooting because I was crying from laughing so hard and those were the RSO's. I had a RSO argue with me that LC on 5.56 brass meant Lenoir City. Had another tell someone who was shooting their 1911 "too fast" to "Do it like I did as a sniper, one shot one kill" refering to his 1911 he carried as a "sniper". Others would catch brass from people in their vest pockets as it was ejected from people's guns and keep it. Had one RSO tell me when the brass hits the ground it belongs to the range and threaten to have me kicked off the property if I argued about it. I watched another RSO duct tape a plastic Coke bottle to a 22 pistol and parade it up and down the line. Then he shot it and told everyone there is was legal because it was just a Coke bottle and not a suppressor. I am sure a few of the kids that witnessed it probably do it now because the RSO said it was legal. I was the only one shooting on one side and had an RSO picking up my brass as I was shooting. I told him that it was my brass and he said I needed to prove it was mine. I laughed and told him to check the bottom because I had already been through this once. He looked at the brass and saw I had painted each round pink on the bottom, he huffed then dropped the pocket full of brass he had collected onto the ground for me to pick up. This was before the craziness so I know they are probably a lot worse about trying to keep brass. Not all RSO's are like this but it seems like every time I was at the range there was at least one of these types. I have had other shooters give me and my wife grief. Had one shooter complain to the staff about my wife shooting skeet with her 410. He was the same guy who said the SIG was better than an AR because out of a AR M855 goes 3,000 fps and in his SIG it did 6,000 fps. I have caught people looking in my bags and I have had stuff go missing. If you do go, DO NOT go alone and make sure someone stays with your bags as you go down range.

  6. Hate to say it but it was something in your process and not two sets of dies. As I said I suspect you had the seater pin in the die rather than the decapper pin.   Luckily RCBS has the greatest customer service on the planet.   Also, 3n1 oil isn't the best stuff to use. You are eventually going to stick a case.
  7. You are doing something wrong. There is no way you got two sets of bad dies. If so go buy a lottery ticket because the odds are astronomical you did.           When you got the replacement die did you put the original decapping pin in that die too? Completely remove the decapping pin and run a case inside the sizing die. Does it still come out looking like a sharpened pencil?   It almost sounds like you have the seater rod in the sizing die rather than the decapping rod.   Take a picture of the problem die and make sure to include a view inside.
  8. Why is it always someone cleaning their gun? I guess that is an easy excuse. That is why I NEVER clean my guns unless I absolutely have to.   Personally I think it was more like "I was screwing around playing quick draw aiming at myself in the mirror when I pulled the trigger".   When I was in the military I had the husband of a friend of my wife's call. They had gotten to be friends because we raised dogs and they bought one. Well when my wife answered she said, "ok" over and over again then frantically handed me the phone. He said I was showing my friend my new gun and it went off. I asked if everyone is ok and he said no, I shot someone. I asked if it was bad and he said his friend's foot was bleeding. I told him to take him to the hospital. He asked if he had to because he would get in trouble and I told him "YES!" He said he helped carry his buddy into the ER. He said the doctor removed a splinter out then put a bandaid on it. Turns out when the gun when off the bullet hit the coffee table and a splinter went into his friends foot. I laughed so hard after I found out it was a splinter but the guy who had the AD/ND will never forget because he was charged and got an Article 15 out of it.   It seems like AD/ND's were all too common in the military. Seemed like once a month you would hear of one on the base, both on and off duty.
  9. I will third that a Sig 238 is super easy to rack.
  10. The driver will be fired. Domino's has a long history of firing those who protect themselves. That is why I don't buy anything from Domino's.   Remember the guy who used a stick to ward off several attackers and was fired?
  11. I found an ad the other day for $20 Lightning Links.
  12. Grab a HVLP sprayer. They waste less and requires less pressure and less volume. Even a small compressor can generally handle s HVLP sprayer. You can find a great gun for under $50 that will work just fine for what you want to do. I get them at Harbor Freight.
  13. A 25 yard zero is better than 200 if you are wanting to get to 600 yards with irons. At 600 yards a 62g bullet at 3,070 fps has 59" of drop and only has 6" of deviation from the line of sight to 375 yards. And 59" of holdover is easy to guess because that is roughly the height if the average person. A 200 yard zero with the same load results in 79" of drop at 600. Now 0-200 yards is laser like but beyond that it requires more on the dial than a 25 yard zero. The difference between a 50 and 200 yard zero at 600 yards is one inch. Most people shooting an AR at that distance will not notice the 1" difference. The biggest advantage to zeroing at 50/200 is the turrets of a scope will only be going one way. Using a 25 yard zero with a scope you might need to dial down then back up again if shooting at distances between 100 and 600. When using irons I always zero my 223's at 25 yards because it is point and shoot for anything inside of 350 yards. The 62g bullet stays within 6" of line of sight with a 25 yard zero. For scopes I plan on dialing on the turrets with I zero at 100 yards because, just like 50/200, the scope will be getting dialed one way, up. This is all for 223/5.56. For my 300 Blackout guns it is a different animal all together. For my subsonic 300 BO loads I zero at 40 yards. The reason is because it matches a 22lr in the 1,200 fps range out to 200 yards, and maybe beyond. So I can zero at 40 and the use a scope that is ballistically matched to a 22lr which is cheaper than any dedicated 300 Blackout scope. For supersonic I use the same scope at the same zero and the dial is going the same way. I just make a note on the turrets for the supersonic loads at given distances. Man I really need to find another place to get to 500 yards.
  14. Hey LJ you need to be running a powder baffle too. They make the powder dispensers a lot more consistent. I make mine using the templates online. I make mine out of old license plates and the side holes are a lot smaller. It keeps the weight of the powder on the measuring tube conssitent whether the hopper is completely full or almost empty. I loaded a few hundred the other day and weighed each charge. They never varied more than .1 grains.   http://www.ray-vin.com/tech/hack/baffle.pdf   I have never used the dryer sheets but some say it works. The only thing I use dryer sheets in is my tumbler to help keep the dust down but even then it is rare I use one.   I just use a brush to loosen any clingy powder.
  15.   Yes. Build it just like any other AR with all the same parts except the barrel.   The barrel will only work with supersonic ammo unless you have a suppressor.
  16. I have the same stock and REALLY like it.   I am getting ready to build another AR and I might take a few ideas from this one.
  17. Looks like something might be wrong. Even I, the chat room king, cannot access it.
  18. I use a brush of some sort like a toothbrush. As far as something to keep it from sticking I have no clue. I will say that leaving certain powders in the dispenser for any amount of time will cause the sides to warp. And any powder baffle left in will be stuck. I left Lil'Gun in the dispenser for several months and I thought I was going to have to throw the dispenser away. It works again but isn't pretty.
  19. Demand to meet in person to inspect and see what he says.
  20. I don't think there is supposed to be a HUGE muzzle flash right in front of the breech. Makes you wonder how much velocity they are loosing. Even with those muffs that has to be painful.
  21. Finding them is going to be difficult. I suggest you buy an aftermarket receiver, there are several makers. Randy at CPC used to sell bolts but it appears he no longer does.   Here is a bolt: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ruger-10-22-Bolt-Assembly-Factory-Brand-New-Take-Off-/181201749709#ht_283wt_1399   and another: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RUGER-10-22-TALO-BOLT-FACTORY-MIRROR-POLISHED-NEW-/261267071250#ht_245wt_1399
  22. If he goes into the criminal trial defending himself he stands a good chance of being convicted. Attorneys, defense and prosecution, are really good at what they do and he doesn't have the same level of experience. If he decides to defend himself during the trial it will be like a team of little leagers going against the super bowl champions. And when the federal attorneys get involved he is playing with the big boys who have an unlimited budget to ensure he is found guilty.   Personally, I think they charged him wrong and they should have charged him with disorderly conduct. Then before his trial have a court ordered mental evaluation. The mental eval will do two one of two things, either clear the way for the disorderly conduct conviction or determine if he indeed has a mental condition. If he is found sane then he will be found guilty of disorderly conduct and then sentence him to the maximum. Spending 30 days in jail will change anybody. If it is found he does indeed have a mental condition then remove his ability to own or possess firearms.   39-17-305.  Disorderly conduct.    (a) A person commits an offense who, in a public place and with intent to cause public annoyance or alarm:    (1) Engages in fighting or in violent or threatening behavior;    (2) Refuses to obey an official order to disperse issued to maintain public safety in dangerous proximity to a fire, hazard or other emergency; or    (3) Creates a hazardous or physically offensive condition by any act that serves no legitimate purpose. (b) A person also violates this section who makes unreasonable noise that prevents others from carrying on lawful activities. (c) A violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor.
  23. Personally this is what I would do.   Grab a hacksaw or dremel and cut the top of the front sight off and turn it into a low profile gas block. Cut the handguard retainer off while you are at it. Next I would take the dremel to the delta ring assemly and spring, leaving only the barrel nut. Then I would buy one of these: https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/browse&category=railedforearms_rainierarms They clamp to the existing barrel nut and are very solid. They are also about 1/2 what you are looking at spending. Then I would add whatever same plane sights you want to use.   Here is one that looks exactly like you are wanting except it does't require the removal of anything other than the handguards: https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=3266
  24. Is it me or does the grip on the TT on the right seem wider?   Are they both the same caliber?
  25. In the court hearing he stated the suppressor was on a Form 3 which is a tax free transfer between dealers. So it was in the inventory of the business that holds the SOT. The suppressor my have been paid for by him but it was not his personally but it was in the inventory, and likely the property, of the business. I would be really, really upset if I found out he used a silencer I was waiting on approval on to do this. If it was on a Form 4 in his name then it would have been his personally. But because he is listed on the FFL/SOT he can possess the silencer that is technically the property of the business.   There is a lot of gray area here and to be honest the judge probably needs to have a representative of the ATF present to explain. The laws and rulings can get very confusing to anyone not familiar with them. I am far from an expert in these matters but I have read a fair amount on the subject. The judge has probably not read anywhere near what any of us has so he needs someone to help him make the right decisions.   A person can pay for their suppressor directly from a manufacturer. The manufacturer then files a Form 3 for a tax free transfer to a NFA dealer of the person's choosing and that is the first waiting period. Then after the Form 3 is approved the silencer is transferred from the maker to the dealer on that Form 3. Then the individual submits a Form 4 and the second, longer, wait begins. Even though the individual has paid for, and legally owns, the item they cannot take possession of it until a Form 4 has been stamped and returned the the individual.   There are some dealers that will let you use your suppressor in their presence but the dealer, or representative, must be present.   Whatever the ruling is it will set in stone the NFA rules for the state. I just hope my Form 1's come back before this case is settled.   Can you imagine if the lawmakers decided to prevent further problems by outlawing NFA items? Especially if he wins and all the copy cats come out of the woodwork looking for a payday.
