I have probably lost dozens of them over the years. I have threatened for years to make a detent tool to make installing the front detent foold proof. I have a design floating around in my head I think will work.

Detailed Testing, Steel vs. Brass cased Ammo
Dolomite_supafly replied to mikegideon's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
It depends on the type of ammo being shot. Copper jacketed bullets the barrel will last at least 30K rounds. The steel bi-metal jackets definitely wear the bore out a lot quicker. Realistically how many of us shoot more than 2K-3K a year? I know I don't anymore. And when you consider a barrel costs ~$200 spending that every 3 years is pretty cheap. -
Detailed Testing, Steel vs. Brass cased Ammo

And I think I have said it for at least 4 years now. An AR will run fine when dirty, DI as well as piston, and will continue to do so for thousands of rounds. I have personally shot 3K-5K without cleaning and never had any cycling issues. As it stands right now every AR I own probably has 500+ rounds through it since the last cleaning. And I generally run them pretty dry by most people's standards. Something I have noticed is combloc ammo is dirtier but it is also waxier or more oily too. I wonder if that isn't part of the design to provide some lubrication as the firing increases. I know with American made ammo it is not waxy or oily but dry and so it requires additional lubrication. I would be willing to bet the Monarch ammo is a bimetal bullet jacket. Probably a copper coated steel jacket. -
Those little 22lr's loaded with the 60 grain Aguila SSS rounds are nothing to laugh at. They get 8"-10" of penetration and turn sideways on the way. This leaves a .60" permenent wound channel which is wider than most defensive calibers. It would have the hydrostatic shock some calibers do but it definitely has the permanent wound channel. I have a 22 as my "last resort" pistol and it is loaded with the SSS round. It also makes the gun more reliable with the shorter cases. I have had some finicky 22's in the past and they ALL ran the SSS just fine.

Obama offers new gun control steps

I was told that it was taken away last fall. Anything you are seeing now was probably in the supply chain. I was told surplus powder was being burned rather than sold. -
Freedom Munitions Has .300 Blackout, 67 Cents/Round
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I was just poking fun in hopes to get some more people into reloading. I hear people say all the time they don't have the time to reload but in the time spent searching stores or online for ammo one could probably load more than they find. And the equipment isn't that expensive, might be a little hard to find right now but it is still cheap. I have posted a list to get someone loading for under $200. And for me I started reloading for better ammo, not cost. When I first started my reloads were running at least as much as store bought but not anymore. And yes my 300 Blackout ammo is 4.4 cents a round because I cast every bullet I shoot. I can cast 300+ bullets an hour and the equipment for it was under $100. So for a ~$300 investment you can be pretty much immune to what is going on now. Primers are still available and so it powder. -
Get 100% pure lanolin and at least 91% rubbing alcohol., the higher the better. Then mix the two in a 8:1 or 10:1 ratio with the alcohol being the bigger and the lanolin being the smaller. Heat a pot of water on the stove until it is too hot to keep your hand in it. Then remove it from heat and let it set for a few minutes to equalize. Set the lanolin and alcohol in the hot water with the caps loosened. Leave them for about 15 minutes in order to heat up. This makes the lanolin more liquid like and helps it disolve in the alcohol. Put 1/2 the alcohol in the spray bottle then add all of the lanolin. Then pour the remaining alcohol in the spray bottle. Then cap it off and shake vigorously for a few minutes until it is mixed well. It should not seperate even after cooling. And to use it all you have to do is spray it on the cases and let is sit long enough for the alcohol to evaporate. The higher the % of alcohol the quicker it evaporates. Dolomite

I got an email confirmation when I ordered mine. The email said the items had shipped. When I asked I was told they were automatically generated the day after the order was placed. Wish you the best. Make sure to come back in here and let us know when you get your stuff. -

Can't help you with gas. And my costs are not from years ago. That will be my cost when I load some up tomorrow. -
I use lanolin mixed with alcohol. I can make a 1/2 gallon for about $8 and that includes the sprayer. I made a 1/2 gallon two years ago and have sized well over 6K cases now using it. I also used it for some other stuff like wasp spray as well as for starting fires and I still have well over 1/2 left. If I were a betting person I would bet that $8 investment would let you size 20K cases, depending on the case size. My next choice would be Imperial Wax. I use imperial when I am doing a few cases and use the lanolin when I am doing 200-300 cases. You really need to try to lube the case neck. It gets sized down then the mandrel comes back through it. It can wear the mandrel down over time, esecially if you are not cleaning your cases. I would also suggest that you, at a bare minimum, use a brass brush to clean the inside of the case necks. I chuck it into a drill then spin it up and run the case over it. I always tumble before sizing but I generally use a brush on the neck as well. Then when I lube the neck gets lubed inside and out. Then after sizing I tumble for 20-30 minutes to get the lube out of the neck and off the outside of the case. You can believe me or not but 3-n-1 is a cutting oil more so than a lubricating oil. And it does not even come close to having the lubricating properties a 30W engine oil does. 30W will work way better than the 3-n-1 for a case lube. Vaseline will work better than 3-n-1 and probably even work better than the Lee lube. I have tried the Lee lube and tried to like it but there are so many other things out there that works better. It may work but there are other products that make sizing easier. I have probably tried every recommended type of lube and so far the lanolin is the best as well as the cheapest.

Freedom Munitions Has .300 Blackout, 67 Cents/Round

You are more than welcome. My supersonic ammo costs me a bit more at 7.3 cents per round. -
You were using the seater pin in a decapping die. This is not a RCBS problem, it was a end user problem. You have managed to do something I thought I would never see. 3 in 1 oil is NOT a lubricating oil. It is a cutting oil. Two totally different types and uses of oil. You would never use a cutting oil in an engine and you should never use a lubricating oil for cutting.

Give whitewolf a few days to get an address. If not I will get the address from you and send them off. They are cheap to send off using flat rate boxes.

My IPhone and Ballistic AE ballistics app. It is something I use at least 3x a week. I use it when I am not shooting to see where I need to be with my loads. It is something I will never be without. My last 3 phone upgrades and phone companies have been based on whether I can use an IPhone because of that single app. I have used it to make first round hits on steel at 300 yards before using a 22lr shooting subsonic ammo. And the IPhone itself is very useful. I can check weather data, use it as a flashlight as well as take pictures. I can use it to store reference materials as well. I use my IPhone like most peole use their computers.

They will tell you it IS available then you have to call back to get your money refunded. There are tons of mounts that are just as good and cheaper. -
They have an address to receive their mail.

I would suggest paying for a membership to silencer research. It is like $30 for a year. It will save you a lot of grief from buying a crappy can. The lists are excel and easily searched. I will say that he is not current but has every can tested up to about 2 years ago. And there are very few "new" cans on the market. Nearly every can in his lists are still available. Another decent place is here: http://www.silencerforum.com/ And finally DO NOT rely on manufacturer's numbers. They do not test the same. Each company tests to give their can the best possible numbers. Unless they are testing to the milspec standard do not believe the numbers.

I have a bunch of current firearms, and other, magazines I am done with. I would like to send them somewhere rather than just toss them in the trash. If you are overseas, or know the address of someone who is, please send me a PM with an address. Thanks

The Botach family tried to scam the federal government out of 300 million dollars. They won a contract to supply our allies and our troops with ammunition. What we got was old, out of date Chinese ammo from the 60's. This was the grandson of the owner of Botach. http://failedmessiah.typepad.com/failed_messiahcom/2010/08/rabbi-shmuley-boteach-family-linked-to-illegal-arms-dealing-and-money-laundering-678.html Here is a picture of some of the "new" ammo our allies and soldiers received: I will not order from anyone who would try to pull off a scam on the backs of our troops. I have persoanlly ordered from them twice. First was a holster and some other small stuff. Like $100 worth of stuff. It showed in stock and I ordered and paid with a credit card. I was charged immediately. Well a few weeks later I had not received so I called. They said the items had been out of stock for a long time. I asked for my money back and they said it would take a while to get my money back. I think it was over a month before I got a refund by check. Second purchase was on 10 pairs of 5.11 pants. I called to ensure they were in stock. I was told to call the warehouse and given the number. I called that number and spoke to the warehouse manager. She assured me they had thousands of pairs so I hit submit on the order while we were on the phone. I paid immediately and was charged immediately. Well after waiting 2 weeks I called back in to find out where the pants were. I was told they were out of stock. I explained I called the warehouse and they said they were in stock. The worker appologized. I asked for a refund and they agreed to it but it took several weeks to get my refund. I know it isn't the case but it almost seems like they accept the money and keep it long enough to generate interest then return it, keeping the interest. If they are making a million doallars in sales a month and refunding all of it but the interest that would be a pretty penny to most of us. -
A loan is better than ANY credit card. With a loan you know the amount and for how long. Also, ask if they have a cash discount. I know most hospitals give discounts for cash vs insurance.
