  1. The bullet you are using has an ogive that is farther out than the one listed as your reference. I have seen it a lot. My reloads must be loaded to a OAL of 1.072". Any longer and the slide will not go into battery.   You will likely find some marks on the bullet from it being shoved into the throat.   This was the result of the same thing: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/65730-ohshoot-almost-got-shot-today-idiots-dont-need-to-own-guns/?hl=killed
  2. Which mold? There are some out there that are miserably innaccurate, the Lee 230 "Blackout" grain is one. I am going to revisit it now that I am powder coating but others have reported they are still inaccurate.   With a decent bullet I have found that adding a few thousandths worth of powder coating to the bullet tightens up the accuracy. I suspect it is more about increasing the size than the powder coating.
  3.   You lived in those places?
  4. I use 7.4 grains of PP for my 230 grain cast bullets. Works great.
  5. In bigger cities I avoid MLK blvd and any intersections involving MLK blvd as well as 2-3 blocks on either side of MLK blvd. I also avoid any streets with state names or president names, ie Washinton ave, Jefferson ave, Texas ave, Oklahoma ave, etc. These seem to be pretty universal in every big city I have been too.   Also, most areas outside of military installations tends to be kind of rough around the edges.   In Knoxville Magnolia and about two blocks on either side of it are rough areas. I drive down it every time I go to town and never had an issue. We play the "Is she a hooker?" game as we go. I have been caught down there a time or two after dark and it is a very scary place to be.
  6. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/56611-temporary-tactical-beard-a-bit-of-levity-right-now/   And another "beard" for those beard challenged like myself. http://kitup.military.com/2012/11/pack-beard-deployment.html
  7.   The serial number on the frame is the same as the rest. Just might be how you, or I, are seeing it but it sure looks like 12,700.
  8. WOW, never new they were that rare. I found one in a pawnshop and passed on it because they had $275 firm on it. Another reason I passed is because I wanted to thread it and the barrel seemed a bit thin.
  9. I used my Lee die to seat and it has a crimp but I never crimp my bullets. I take a few thousandths off the expander ball to increase neck tension when loading jacketed bullets. For cast I just remove the bell of the case mouth.
  10. Her claiming to be a gun owner that supports gun rights is like the racist who claims to have a black friend. Just a way to show a connection and make themselves seem more relavent.     I wonder how long it will be before those who represent us recognize how much support they could get if they supported us. A lot could get a lot more votes if they declared, and acted like, they supported gun rights.
  11. And I think I am going to lock it to let it go into obscurity. Leaving it open can do nothign but confuse people coming here for information.
  12. Rather than ban things based on sound why don't we get the government to issue us free ear plugs. I know I could use a fresh set every day.
  13. I personally like the strong taste of wild game. I had a smoked wild turkey 5-6 years ago and it was amazingly good. It is almost like wild game is concentrated as far as the flavor goes. I know the wild turkey we had wasn't as big as most commercial turkeys either.
  14. I am glad I picked up a set of the RCBS black box dies. They work great and now I am starting to think the Lee dies I have are out of spec, as in too large. Ammo sized using the Lee has had problems in a few guns.
  15. Harby's Pizza 3718 Walker Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37917   Best pizza I have ever had came from that place. They also have plenty of other items on the menu but their pizza is the best.
  16. I have also noticed that my groups shrink with certain guns when suppressed. I too used to weigh my bullets but quit doing that. With Winchester Subsonic HP they seem really, really accurate for the cost. Winchester Dynapoint is another that is extremely accurate but it is about $25 a brick now in stores. The Subsonic HP is about $40 a brick in stores.   And they are lethal at that distance. Maybe not knock down DRT lethal but bleed out in 3-5 minutes dead. I can remember ground hog hunting as a kid aseeing an older friend shooting them at 200 yards. At that distance some would not even realize they had been hit. They would stand around then a few minutes later just fall over.
  17. I LOVE shooting a suppressed 22 long distance, especially at steel. I have shot 300 yards with subsonic ammo. It takes a noticeable amount of time to get to the target. So much so I have a cup of coffee and check TGO.   Rather than say "I don't know where that one went" I would replace it with "That went in the same hole as the last one!". Or at least that is what I have been telling myself for years. If I can't see the impact it is because it found the only other hole on the target.   In about 4 months I will be shooting my 300 Blackout suppressed at long distance. I cannot wait because the ring it will give will be a lot louder.   I really like your idea with the camera with the spotting scope. I think I am going to do somethign similar. I did have a camera setup to view through the scope at one point but it was reallly finicky.
  18. People have called me crazy but I even lube straight wall pistol cases. It saves a lot of sweat and effort when doing a lot. I even lube 9mm. I have carbide dies so I don't have to lube but it is so, so much easier if you do.
  19. Mind if I move this to benefactor section? Just don't want those who would buy it all up for resale to see this.
  20. I am talking about the bullet itself, not the casing. Easiest way to tell is with a magnet.
  21. The magazine is likely dragging very slightly on the bottom of the bolt. Take a sharpie and mark the top of the magazine and shoot it. If any part of the sharpie is rubbed off then take some sandpaper or a file and remove a little where it is rubbing. And when it rubs it slows the bolt down enough to keep thd bolt from closing all the way with that ammo. The ammo is slowing it down a little too with the lead bullet. And after the magazine mod I would also polish the chamber. Remove the barrel. Then take a cloth bore mop for a .25-.27 caliber and chuck it in a drill. Put some metal polish, like Flitz, on the mop. Insert it into the chamber and spin it up. Go in and out, while spinning, for about 30 seconds to a minute.
  22. A replacement gun can be shipped to directly to a customer as long as it is considered a repair. I have had new guns shipped to my home that were a replacement for a firearm that could not be repaired.
  23. That is great.   I still won't buy anything that tried to send ammo like that to protect our troops and our allies.
  24. That is a recent posting. It wasn't there a few weeks ago. I too had to go back and put my gun up. I think from now on I will let any merchant in the mall that is the last time because the property is posted.
  25. Yeah, because we are all pretty much like minded if the threads stayed on topic it would be rather boring. A bunch of dittos and +1's would cover page after page. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with a difference of opinion as long as it doesn't move into personal attacks. And with that threre are some who have more of an agenda than an opinion and those people are looking for a reason to post something that supports that agenda.
