  1. I hate to see people lose their jobs but if VU was involved in fraud they should have to pay. There should also be some people who go to jail over it if it can be proven. Fraud is widespread and rampant, especially TennCare fraud. It has grown to be such a large animal that it is hard to fix without letting the entire system fail. I have seen it first hand with my brother who gets meds paid for by all of us then sells them to fund his illegal drug habit. He isn't shy about it either and almost braggs to some people about how he sells his benefits.
  2. Dell has a ghost copy of the original OS. I cannot remember the commands but I think it is ALT + F11. It will open up a window like you are installing the OS for the first time. As long as you do not have a physical problem you can reinstall it the way it came from the factory.   I have done this a few dozen times to our Dells.
  3. Private property. They can dictate what and who can or cannot hand something out on their property. Same way you can prevent the Rainbow Coalition from handing out pamplets on your front lawn.
  4. I use this as well and it is amazing stuff.   Something else I have done before is added airsoft BB's to the mixture. I initially did it because I didn't have enough media and wanted to bulk it up some. It seemed to work really well but be forwarned the BB's will fit inside the cases of certain calibers and render them useless. I used them on 45ACP and 9mm. I don't use them anymore because they eventually began to make their way onto the floor. If you had shooes on you slipped if you didn't it hurt like hell when you stepped on them.
  5.   That is not it. But what we want is fairness. How fair is it that probably less than 1% get represented here in 99% of the posts about LE?
  6. It was our representatives that passed ACA, yes Obama drove the final nail in the coffin but he did not pass this alone. Nancy Pelosi was the driving force in getting the ACA passed but we even had representatives vote FOR the ACA and subsequent bills related to it.   Jim Cooper and Steve Cohen both voted for it and they are up for re-election in 2014. Steve Cohen I can see because he is the rep for Memphis. Jim Cooper represents Nashville and I am willing to bet a few of those being laid off voted for him. It does suck that those who voted for him, and got what they wanted, are taking good people with them. But in the next year we need to support their opponents to get them out of office.   For me I don't care who is up for re-election as I am voting for their opponent. I will never vote for another incumbent. And I have said there is nothing wrong or illegal about contacting representatives in other districts or states. Anytime we contact our representatives take a few minutes and contact someone else's. They will not verify if you are in their district and maybe those few extra calls can at least lock up their phone lines or extra emails can slow down the office.   It feels awful and is a scary time when you loose your job. I have been there and had I not been on unemplyment benefits I would have had a very rough time. I hope all those who were fired find work quickly but I suspect that will not be the case.   I honestly believe hard times are coming and most Americans refuse to see it or think we are too big to fail. By hard times I don't mean being on unemployment or unable to buy gifts for Christmas. I mean unable to feed your family or get life saving medication. Or unable to keep your power on or even keep your house. I can honestly see at some point a national emergency coming related to our debt. Imagine if the government all of a sudden decided that it could not longer afford unemployment? That would cause a significant upturn crime as people who would not normally break the law struggle to feed their family. Or even worse if the government decided it could not afford thoes who are on welfare or similar benefits. If both of those things happened, which I believe one will at some point, we will be transformed into a third world nation in a matter of weeks. We are not even close to the end of where we are going but in the end everyone will be hit hard, even those with jobs. We have had our credit rating, as a nation, degraded because the world sees it coming. It may not happen in the next 10 years but it is coming.   Also look at what we, as a nation, are doing globally. We are involving ourselves in countries that we should not be. As a member of the UN perhaps but never on our own as a nation. But because we are doing these things as a nation other nations are begining to warn us about staying out of other nation's affairs. At some point either we back down or those who are warning us need to back up their threats. Either one is not going to be good for the US. And if we find ourselves at war with a major player we are, without a doubt, going to see ourselves in a rough spot at home.   It is almost like what is happening today was planned out as a means to topple our nation from the top.
  7. It has to be something simple.   On the front of the gas block there is a setscrew. That is the outer setscrew. Take it completely out. It should have a somehwat flat face like a typical set screw.   Now inside the hole that the first setscrew came out of there is another setscrew. Take that one out. Now this one should be different than the fist, it should have a nipple on the end.   It could be there there were two flat setscrews installed rather than a flat and nipple.   Here is a detailed picture of how it should look: http://www.wilsoncombat.com/press/Wilson%20Combat%20Adjustable%20gas%20block%20instructions.pdf
  8. Just a thought. Not saying this is the case but I suspect it is. I am as as bad as anyone for not reading instructions but I also disassemble most new gadgets to see how they work.
  9. You do realize there are two setscrews in the hole? One adjusts the gas flow and the outward one locks the inner setscrew in place.   You remove the outer setscrew to gain access to the inner setscrew. Once the adjustements are made with the inner setscrew then the outer setscrew is screwed back in and locks the innner setscrew's adjustments in place.
  10. When was the alst time you cleaned the barrel? I have read that the 17 HMR copper fouls heavily at the throat. And this copper fouling can increase pressures. I have seen this happen on several guns but those that owned them sold them without trying to clean them first. Some brands, can't remember which, were having these issues.
  11. It was not heavy handed. I simply brought it in line with what the owner of the board wanted.   I have never been told not to edit posts that need it. But if that is what needs to happen then so be it. Or perhaps a better approach might be to delete the posts altogether but then that won't be right either. No matter what we, as moderators do, someone is going to be upset. We cannot do anything that everybody agrees with 100%. And what someone might feel heavy handed might not even be a blip to another. If I upset you then I appologize for upsetting you but I will not appologizing for bringing a post inline with what the board owner asked.   If anyone has issue with what I do report it, I welcome it. The other moderators as well as Macgyver and David have ZERO issue with telling me I am wrong. And I have zero issue accepting it and even appologizing when I am wrong.   Robert go find a post where a moderator or admin has done this and report it. You are going to have a hard time because none of us have done that as far as I am aware. I know I have never done it.
  12. I can tell you for a fact I have, on dozens of occassions, edited out the creative spellings after the rule came out. Did I miss some? I am sure I did but I should not have to read every posts here to see if we are following the rules. And don't think that if it was missed that you got one over on us because you didn't. You just showed that you don't have respect for the community and the rules we use to rule it.   The biggest reason why we do this is not to save us from each other but to keep those who might look in and see a SMALL segment of us and make the assumption every member of TGO is what they are seeing. We have had some pretty bad stuff said as of late and it contributed nothing to the conversation. Imagine if some of it were quoted? It would look bad on our community as a whole.   One must ask what the purpose in posting it is. If a person is posting it as "proof" that there are bad cops out there then we don't need it because we all know there are bad cops out there. I welcome conversations about 2A or LE but if it starts out as someone posting it to make a point or support their agenda I will likely report it for all the staff to weigh in on.   And I will say the first person who decides to spam the board with tons of negative LE posts about LE inside Tennessee will likely have those posts deleted. Save yourself all the effort and just don't do it. You know who you are.
  13.   Or months between seasons that had 6 shows. The soaps produce a few hours of television everyday, why can't some network do the same with a TWD type show?
  14. Grainger County   Glock 21 in 45 ACP
  15.   Things must have changed for the better when I was in Germany. In 1992 when I went to Germany my guns went with me and were packed in with my household goods. I did not do any special paperwork other than making sure they were on the inventory sheet. Once I got my household stuff I carried my guns to the arms room and turned them in. Then when I got my out processing paperwork to leave Gerrmany I went to the arms room and got my guns so they could go back in my household baggage for the trip home. They were in my on base housing for about a month before they came and packed my goods up. I never got a permit or special paperwork to ship to or from Europe. I never bought a gun in Germany.   I will see if I can find it but one duty station issued me a permit to carry a my duty gun off duty. It was issued by the post commander. This was in 1990 and expired in 1992.   I do recall several people who owned AR's in Germany who were not allowed to bring them in because of the ban. As a matter of fact there were always certain weapons that were not importable for sale. AR's could be had in 1995 for $60-$100 from people PCSing back to the states.   My last duty station allowed soldiers to keep their firearms in the on base housing. There was no special permits although you had to notify the Provost Marchall's office if you had a firearm. They were not interested in the type, just if you had one. Those in the barracks couldn't have firearms in their rooms. If you lived on base you could leave and enter anytime with a firearm as long as it wasn't loaded.   My son is in the Air Force and they are not allowed to keep anything that might be considered a firearm. He likes playing paintball and were going to get him a nice setup but he said they are not allowed to keep them in the barracks.
  16. This is looking more and more like a deliberate terrorist attack and not work place violence or a suicide pact.   I wonder how well received the lock down of DC, like Boston, will be?
  17. Berretta I would not worry much about not being able to get a hold of your brother. In situations like this they keep witnesses isolated until they can speak with them and with the amount of witnesses that are likely involved it might take all day. Hopefully he calls soon or they allow him to make a call just to let you guys know he is fine.   If there are multiple shooters I suspect it was not a suicide plot, especially if they were not white. Not saying suicide is a white only phonomenon but it is more a white phenomenon than black. Whether is it work place violence, a "terrorist attack" or somethign else it will likely be used to promote more gun control.
  18. I do not use a torque wrench for the barrel nut. I have talked to people who do and they say that the gas tube hole rarely lines up at the correct torque setting. I hand tighten the barrel nut then tighen until the barrel nut is lined up correctly for the as tube.
  19. Really? I mean are you seriously saying this was some conspiracy to stop this old guys social security check.   If so I need to go buy up all the aluminum foil I am going to need for the rest of my as well as buy stock in ALCOA because you are obviously using a lot of aluminum on tinfoil hats.
  20. One of the most useful tools is a set of receiver blocks. It keeps the finish from being marred when you tighten the barrel nut down.   This is what I got and it works perfectly: http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-56-308-UPPER-RECEIVER-BARRELING-BLOCKS-S-A-R-10-Armorers-vise-223-15-16-/121175776650?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c36a39d8a   Here is a set with a lower receiver block as well: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pin-Upper-Lower-Receiver-Vise-Block-COMBO-4-15-NO-M-A-R-Gunsmith-Barrel-Tool-/121164214455?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c35f330b7   These are not bad if all you are building is a few guns. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Armorers-Wrench-combo-too-castle-nut-barrel-NIB-1yr-warranty-Authorized-dealer-/350876409738?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51b1dd1f8a If you are going to build more than a few you need to buy a better setup but these work fine a few times.   Beyond those tools above all you need is very basic tools. Make sure to have a set of punches as well.
  21. Look into Bushnell's new AR optics. They are very nice for the money.
  22. When I started "hoarding" it was long before the shelves went bare, I am talking about years before any of us had even heard of Obama. I will not be made to feel guilty because I planned ahead and someone else didn't. I shoot regularly and often shoot a lot more than most because I did plan ahead. I don't shoot 22 as much as before but I shoot all my centerfires 10x as much as before. I have zero guilt when I go to the range and mag dump 400 rounds of ammo that most can't replace. And I do it because I have plenty and that is because I planned ahead.   What is wrong with buying from Walmart? That is where I get most of my ammo because their ammo is cheaper than anywhere else and because it can still be found on the shelves. I walked into Walmart yesterday and found more 223 than I could ever want if I didn't reload and it was a lot cheaper than the prices of resellers so why not buy from Walmart.    I have enough to likely last me at least a decade at my current rate of shooting because I did think ahead and just because someone has less ammo doesn't make me the bad person.   Sounds a lot like the story about the grasshopper and ants.
  23. For the low volume reloading you are going to do the Lee trimmer will work fine. Chuck it into a cordless drill and go. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/476992/lee-case-trimmer-cutter-and-lock-stud http://www.midwayusa.com/product/107333/lee-case-length-gage-and-shellholder-223-remington   I just made up a list for a fellow TGO member and the Lee trimmer was what I recommended for him. It isn't for people who are loading thousands of rounds at a time but if you are loading a few hundred it is easy and pretty quick.   Chamfering is not required but it keeps the bullet from getting shaved as it is seated. Sometimes the bullet can catch the case mouth and crush the neck if you don't chamfer. Personally I chamfer but I know people who don't, they just use a scotchbrite pad to remove and flashing that is left over from the trimming process. They trim then spin the case back up and use the pad to remove any burrs.   Although the case length gauge is nice, it is not required. I have never used one for my 223 or any other rifle cartridge. Make sure your shell holder and die touch each other when sizing and the piece of brass will be SAAMI spec as long as the die isn't messed up.   For a first time 223 loader I always recommend Varget. The reason is you cannot get enough powder in the case to cause a problem.
  24. Omar Von Muller is the trainer's name and he has several dogs capable of similar tricks. His daughter is actually training animals as well. They have another dog that is pretty amazing too.   Here is his Youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/otheman62/videos?sort=p&view=0&shelf_index=3
  25. I prefer myself a pancake hat. I also have a set or two of manjams I could throw on. Unfortuantely my dog at the hadji slippers I had.
