  1. Go here and try hitting join. I can't belive I wasn't a member but I am now. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/groups/16-ar-owners/
  2. I have a dealer account with Brownells but not with Midway. Even without a dealer account Midway is generally cheaper than Brownells, especially with large purchases and even some small ones. Midway has coupon codes that give you discounts even farther.
  3. As well as those who did nothing to support their candidate. Voting only will no longer work. We MUST email, call, donate time or money in order to ensure we win the next election. Oh and do not vote for any incumbent that has proven to not represent us. I am going to vote against any incumbent regardless of party because first term representatives almost always try to do what is best for the county. It is only after they see thy are not getting rich they change and that takes a term or two.
  4. A lot of offficers have been and were warned that they would be next in line. It is starting to happen.
  5. Buy it as cheap as you can if you plan on modding it. New or used it doesn't matter because 75% of the original gun will be removed so you don't want a lot tied up in it. On the other hand if you buy new you can sell the barrel and stock for about $50.
  6. Maybe not but I bet he is a lot smarter now than before.
  7. But you will be able to tell because the Christian Shemaghs will be Red, White and Blue.
  8. I do the same with my 300 Blackout. I have some 100 grain cast bullets and when loaded with about 6 grains of Lil'Gun the gun barely moves from the recoil. It still has enough to dispatch most animals I might have to shoot too.
  9. It is like a suppressor. I spoke to John Noveske about 8 years ago on the phone about the KX3 when I called to order one. He explained to me about the pressure increases then and how it increased reliability in some guns because of additional pressures. I know a few smiths that use it to diagnose problems. The shorter the barrel, especially pistol length, are a lot more finicky and even minor changes can have dramatic effects on durability. Rifle length barrels tend to be less affected by changes because of the longer gas impulse.
  10. A PIG will increase the pressures in the barrel and only increase the over gas issue. They make micro gas blocks that are adjustable. Battle Tested Equipment, BTE, makes a SS micro block that is adjustable for $49 shipped. He might need to buy several buffers to find one that works. Then you end up with a lower that may not work with other uppers. It is always better to fix the upper and leave the lower alone so you can swap the upper and lower onto different uppers and lowers.
  11.   The Walmart at east town was caught doing this. Except they would keep it for their friends. I know I caught them in a lie more than once. I asked about ammo and was told they were completely out. I walked to the side and leaned over the counter and seen tons of ammo. I asked about it and was told it was being held for someone else. The same people, with the exception of a couple, still work there and I seriously doubt their spots have changed.
  12. I couldn't care less because it is a term in common usage. How many other words became recognized words because they were in common usage? The word "fax" wasn't a word 40 years ago but it is today. "sexting" is a word and it wasn't used 10 years ago but is in common use. So as long as they are refering to the magazine I don't care because we both know what the meaning is.   I used to argue with people about "irregardless" because it wasn't considered a word up until probably the last 10 years. Now it is considered a word but it means exactly the opposite of the spelling. "regardless" is without regard and by adding "ir" to most words it makes it the opposite of the original word. So "irregardless" is the opposite of without regard so it must mean with regard, the polar opposite of how it is used.
  13. When no one could find primers in stock in 2008-2009 I would walk in and almost always be able to buy them. At the tiem they were out of powder but I guess no one knew you had to ask for primers.
  14. Try looking under the trigger for a primer. Another issue could be the hook of the disconnect is too long and not releasing the hammer when you release the trigger. Not sure if you remember but do you remember hearing a click when the trigger was released. I have seen this on quite a few rifles over the years. The way to fix it is take a file to the front of the disconnect hook. If it happenes again take your finger and press forward on the trigger. If the trigger clicks and the gun is able to be fired it is the disconnector hook that is too long.   What do you have for a muzzle device? Certain muzzle devices can increase pressure and cause problems on these short guns.   I tell anyone, that will listen, to install an adjustable gas block.   And finally, give it a good cleaning. Make sure the ejector spring has the black or blue insert inside the spring. Excercise the ejector too while oiling it.   Have you tried a different lower? My frontier lower seems like it is slicker than a standard lower. I had an upper that would not cycle using standard lowers but would cycle with the frontier. That tells me there is less resistence with the plastic hammer. Could be the less resistence is contributing to the overgassing issue. An adjustable gas block will fix all the over gassing issues.
  15. I bought a "new" Savage at a Walmart I frequent about once a week and have been for at least a decade. It was a left handed short action that I have been wanting to find for a very long time. Well it came out on the shelf on sale so I snatched it up for the $350 asking price. I asked why it was on sale and they said because it never sold. I told them it was because it was never on the shelf. They went and checked the logs and it was put in the safe in 2005 and taken out in 2013 two days before I bought it. It sat in the safe for 8 years and there is no telling how many times it was moved around. Luckily nothing was missing.   Things get lost. And when you have people working for the amount these likely do they want to make their job as easy as possible. That is why they tell angry customers what will make them go away. My Savage buying experience above was not without drama either. I had a manager threaten to refuse to sell me the gun because someone else was complaining it was taking so long to complete my sale. 45 minutes after I had passed the background the manager finally showed up to take my money. I am still pissed about this, as well as being called an idiot by another "associate" or being told by yet another another "associate" that the cashier needed to put something behind the counter so that I won't steal it. I hate the people who work at Walmart but still shop there. If I have ANY questions I ask for a manager and ask them rather than deal with any associates. I have even called managers on the phone from inside the store for help.
  16. These 8620 bolts are probably good for the average shooter but for hard use or if they are going to be used to save a life I would pass.
  17. Not saying it can't happen with 158's but it will be more prevalent with 8620's than the 158's. I have sheared bolt lugs off too. It is possible to still have them function but if you continue it will be short lived. An average year of training in the military is probably more shooting than most people do in a lifetime. And depending on the MOS a month of training can exceed a lifetime of most recreational shooters.
  18. That Walmart has had some interesting guns that are found no where else. I have seen Remington R15's there, several Magpul Sigs, a few "designated Marksman" type rifles from various manufacturers and several Colt models that I have seen no where else. They used to sell DPMS 308 AR's for $897. Glad to see they finally came to their senses. A few days after Sandyhook they removes ALL of the black rifles. I asked why and was told they were illegal to sell because of the shooting. I asked about 223 ammo and they said they removed it from the shelf because it was also outlawed because it was used in the shooting too. Then when I asked what happened to all the 22 they said they had a few ARs chambered in 22 so they removed all that ammo as well. Bascailly anything that looked like an AR was removed from the shelves as well as any ammo they used. BTW, this Walmart also sells everything you need to reload. You can buy reloading kits, powders and even primers. The manager there needs a raise because he is doing things right. It is the only Walmart I have been to that had a selection.
  19. The 8620 bolts are brittle compared to 158 bolts. The 8620's are hardened all the way through and can crack more easily than the 158 bolts. The 158 bolts are surface hardened only so they are durable on the outside and flexible on the inside to prevent cracks. There have been a lot of sheared bolt lugs ralated to the 8620's.   8620 is spec for the carrier only. Might be worth it to buy the "cheap" bolt carrier group then add a 158 bolt to it. Use the 8620 bolt as a "last resort" replacement.   8620 is milspec for the carrier and 158 is milspec for the bolt itself.
  20. Depends on whether you are shooting supersonic or subsonic. It also makes a difference if it is suppressed or not.   A supersonic, full power load is a little more than full power 223 as far as recoil goes. I have had several people say my 300 Blackout pistols are equal to a 357 magnum as far as recoil. Subsonic loads in an AR rifle are close to my wife's 9mm AR. A 9mm blowback has more felt recoil than a gas operated 223.   I have no clue how much a suppressor will reduce the recoil but it does because of the added weight as well as the reduction in muzzle blast. Ask me in December and I should have an answer by then.
  21. Discussed in depth here as well: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/36038-jose-guerena-shot-60-times-by-swat-in-his-home/   I don't agree with the decision but it is what it is. Better than having a judgement much larger for the taxpayers to have to pay.   He was hardly an angel and had been arrested several times prior to this for drugs.
