  1. You can get more bullet tension by reducing the sizing mandrel by a few thousandths with jacketed bullets. For cast bullets you actually should use a larger mandrel to keep the case neck from sizing the cast bullets down. If it is a pistol caliber you do like Caster said and open up the carbine ring a few thousandths when shooting exclusively cast.   I never crimp cast bullets, only remove the bell like others have recommended. That is for rifle and pistol calibers. As a matter of fact I do not crimp jacketed bullets either in any of my loads because I use a reduced mandrel size with jacketed bullets.
  2. Their primer pockets tend to be softer than others. I know after about 3 loadings the primer pockets get bigger in 223 brass.
  3. So if a Constitutional Convention was held and the 2nd Ammendment, or any ammendment for that matter, was removed from the Bill of Rights what would you "fighters" do?
  4. No better advice has ever been given with regards to the 10/22.
  5. You could remove the current sight then drill and tap it for a bead. They are 6-48 if I remember correctly. Just make sure to loctite it and make sure it doesn't protrude into the barrel.
  6. Follow these directions: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122386&highlight=cletus+hungwell   Also, if you want to give it a try do this: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=167898&highlight=bobby   Just doing the bobby pin mod will reduce the trigger significantly.
  7.   It is perfectly legal for ANYONE to make ANY gun they want provided they are allowed to own the weapon they made. A person can make a semiautomatic rifle or pistol and not break the law provided they are allowed to own them. They can make a bolt action rifle or shotgun and be well within the law. And it doesn't matter how or what was used to make those guns. As an individual you can make as many guns as they want. They can make them using whatever means they want. The guns do not need to have a serial number and they do not need to be registered. That is for an individual that does not make them with the intent to sell them.   I can walk out into my garage, make a gun and it is perfectly legal even though I do not have a license to manufacturer firearms. And after it is made I can actually sell it if when I made it I didn't intend to sell it. The key is intent to sell it when it was made. Those that are manufacturing weapons for resale rarely do one or two. Most people who makes guns for themselves rarely make more than a couple a year. Yet those who intend to sell them will make dozens or more. And that is where it is easy to prove intent. Now if people began making with the intent to sell receivers made on the 3d printer they would need a manufacturers license. But if they are making them for themselves, initiall, they are perfectly legal.
  8. You will still be able to make the COAL, even if the neck is almost gone.   Consider it a bonus that you do not need to trim.   Federal, by the way, tends to have other issues as well. I toss any Federal I find in my end of the world bucket and the only time I will use it is when it is the only brass I have left.
  9. Protecting yourself might be a "God given right" but the ability use a firearm was given to us by a man made document. The 2nd Ammendment is not a right but a priviledge given to us by our founding fathers. A right is something that cannot be taken away by man. The ability to use a firearm to defend yourself can be taken away just as easily as it was given. There will be a day when there will be a Constitutional Convention to remove or alter the 2nd Ammendment. And by the simple fact it can be taken makes it a priviledge.   There are tons of countries around the world where someone cannot use a firearm in self defense so that is not a right given by the creator, if there is one.   Also, if it is a "God given right" who's God gave them that right. Was the Hindu God or the Muslim God?
  10. Are the case necks gone? You should be able to load to the proper COAL unless the bullets are way to short, like 30 grain Hornet bullets.   I trim my 223 brass to 1.745". I do this so I do not have to trim every single time. I can get 3-4 loadings before I have to trim. I have even used cases that were trimmed down below 1.740" without issue. 1.760" is the max not the required length and honestly if all your brass is at 1.760" you might have some pressure problems in some guns that have shorter throats.   I consider not having to trim as a bonus.
  11. No clue. I haven't been 140 since I was in high school.
  12. You will be fine. Any vest is going to be thick once you add plates and, especially, magazines. Personally I like my vest to fit as tightly as I can get them. Keeps chaffing to a minimum as well as help support the back.
  13. Yeah. They have a lot of adjustment though.
  14. Go with a Silencerco Sparrow. They are pretty quiet and are the easiest to clean on the market. Make sure it is the SS version too. It isn't as quiet as a K baffle can but ease of cleaning makes it a no brainer.
  15. Yeah, it is insane and in my travels with Ruger regarding threaded barrels they say that the threaded versions are built a bit beefier. That is why they will not install, or sell, threaded barrels for the non threaded version.
  16. I was told yesterday by the NFA branch that they are not working on trusts right now. The reason is because of the pending change in the law regarding the backgroudns of trustees. They said as they are coming in they are putting them in a box until after the proposed change becomes law.   I had two forms come back errored. One was identical to one that was approved two years ago. They are definitely giving a little more scrutiny to them.
  17. For those cancelling your subscrictions or other actions be sure to let them know why. If enough people let them know their revenue is going away they will change how and who they hire.   I have not read it but I bet he is one of those who believe a shotgun or bolt action is all you need types.
  18. Oh, make no mistake the Remington Subsonic are miserable. You will get some that are miserably low powered followed by one that will have a supersonic crack. The only reason I bought them is I NEED night time ammo. I ran the last little bit I had a few weeks ago.   Good luck with the threaded SR22 barrel. The only people that are selling them are Twin Tech Tactical. Ruger will never sell them and unless your gun came with one they will not replace them. BTW, a threaded SR 22 is a pretty quiet platform. Seems quieter than the threaded Ruger MK's I have or my theaded Cricket Hunter pistol.
  19. I picked up some subsonic 22 at Walmart yesterday. It was waiting on the shelf for me to buy it all. I bought every box they had and smiled on the way out.                                                                                     BTW, all they had was two 50 round boxes of Remington.
  20. That is the law here. As much as I hate to say it, in this state it is a priviledge to carry a firearm and that priviledge can be taken away.   Also, anyone carrying a firearm in this state is breaking the law. That includes those with a HCP, LE officers, literally anyone and everyone. It is only after an investigation that it can be determined that a person has a defense to breaking the law. If an officer sees anyone with a gun they have probable cause to believe a crime is being committed and can investigate. Once he sees the person has a valid HCP, which is a defense, the person cannot be charged.   Until the officer verifies a person has a valid defense he has no clue whether the person has a defense to breaking the law and can assume the person is breaking the law. It is just the way the law is written. It is written so that anyone with a firearm is breaking the law but the defenses keep anyone from being arrested.
  21. I wonder how many times the mother offered to help pay child support?
  22. I'll race him but it won't be fair because I can gallop.
  23. "He was probably robbing the store only to pay child support......". I laughed so hard at that statement.
