If you are going to get a laser get a green one. Red is useless in daylight and even though it works in nighttime a green is amazing in comparison. I used my green laser to point out stars to my niece.

I was a bit confused. The 14" is a decent price depending on the options.   In our state we are in kind of a weird spot. Federal law does not limit barrel length on pistol but in Tennessee a "pistol" must have a barrel that does not exceed 12". "rifles" must have a shoulder stock by state definition so I have no clue what our 14" Contenders are considered. They are not a "pistol" and they are not a "rifle".   I consider any barrel 16" or longer to be a rifle barrel and anything under it to be a pistol barrel.   I am trying to find some 16"+ barrels now. Neither.   A 10" will be miserable for you, and anyone within 20 feet, to shoot.   What kind of base on the 14"? It seems like a fair price with the forearm and the base providing it is a weaver/picatinny base. If it is a factory base ask him to keep it and take off $20.

If you look on Ed's site those are the "safe" calibers as long as you don't go crazy reloading them. I am sure a hot 45-70 would eventually stretch the frame. I know a guy who has a 50-70 barrel that he uses to shoot 50 BMG pills at 650 fps. He could go hotter but it would probably damage the gun. I am wanting a 223 and 357 magnum barrel. I am also looking for a 22 magnum barrel. I am going to have it chambered in 22 Remington Jet. I am going to use it to reload to 22 LR velocities.

They may have toned them down now. When they first came out their 380 ammo blew guns up. So much so that some manufactures mentioned them specifically in their manuals.

If you do not get hit in the heart or brain stem the heart will continue to beat. And as anyone who has had a serious cut on their head they bleed immensely.

That says a lot because Magtech is known for blowing up guns because of their pressures.

As Rbert said it verifies the data you have is correct. Most times the published data results in velocity that is lower than advertised but not always. And with certain powders there are large lot to lot variations than can cause problems if you are loading at or near max.   Reading primers for pressure is not always the best way because it can vary by the primer used. Velocity on the other hand is a great indicator of where the pressures are. If your data says 3,100 fps is the max with a given powder and your chronograph reports 3,200 fps then you have excessive pressures. And if you are using hard military primers that extra pressure might not show on the primers. Or if you have soft primers they might show what looks to be excessive pressures before you are even close to max.   And if you are loading subsonic bullets it ensures the bullet actually left the bore.

Go look on the Ed's site I linked. He has plenty of 10" barrels. http://www.edstc.com/contender.html   And 357 Magnum is a capable deer cartridge. If you want a bit more get the 357 Herrett which is a 30-30 that is shortened and then necked up to 357. I know it is capable of shooting 158 grain bullets really close to 2K fps.   Even a 300 Blackout/Whisper would be more than capable of taking a deer. He has them in 10".   Or another option would be to pick up a barrel in 44 Magnum. They are probably the most plentiful caliber out there and as such are the cheapest barrels on the used market. I have seen them for sale for under $150. He even has one for $110.   And finally if you really want something to put a deer down get a 45-70. Personally I would never shoot one because of the recoil but it would definitely put a deer down.

The reason why we require people to pay is it does several things. First, a person intent on scamming generally will not spend money to do so. Yes, there are some that have (not here) but it is a rarity. Second, it gives us a tie to the individual that LE can use if someone is in fact ripped off. The examiner may have been spouting off but I find no reason to say that to someone who is a month out from getting his forms.   Now some of the "pre" examiners are full of crap. I mean to the brim with some of it spilling out they are so full of it. Been told some pretty stupid things.   BTW, our examiner for Tennessee is not going to be our examiner for much longer. I have no clue who the replacement is but I hope ours isn't retiring. If so it will lead to more slow downs.   I find it funny that the only agency that actually has the ability to make money is doing everything it can to keep it from happening. I mean if they had the ability to speed the process up they would generate a lot more revenue. Heck if they could do a frequent flyer program for those who are already vetted I would submit $1,000 in forms.

And the use of it WITH a Slidefire stock will constitute a machine gun. That is what made the Accelerator stock illegal as well as a version of the Slidefire that used a spring.

That is NOT a Webley.   I would not try to restore it in any way. Collectors are wanting the original patina so when someone cleans up an antique it can destroy all its value.   To give you an idea of how bad it can affect value I will tell you this. I watched a guy walk into a show with a very old and very rare Colt Single Action. In its original finish it was worth $3,000-$5,000, maybe even more but because he took a wire wheel to it the day of the show it turned it into a $500 shooter. He said he was trying to get the brown rust coloring off. It didn't appear to have any pitting and the grips were in nice shape other than where the wire wheel hit them.   Using the incorrect screw driver can affect the value as well. A utility screw driver has a blade like a wedge that does not stay in the slot when force is applied. This will cause the screw slots to be stripped out. A correct screw driver is square so there is very little chance of it slipping out of the slot.   Did you drift the front sight out? If so you are lucky the blade did not break off. The two parts are soldered together and the solder become brittle over time.   Not trying to beat you up, just don't want you to ruin any value it might have.

As long as it says the barrel is for a Contender it should fit. Ed's is the place to get a new barrel. Give him a call, he might even have some used ones.   Encore barrels will NOT fit.

The factory setup looks "U" shaped and the scope sits inside of it with a couple of screws to clamp it in place. The scopes are proprietary for the T/C mount and do not work on anything else from what I have seen. I had someone give me a "useless" scope about 15 years ago and I had no clue what it worked on. I looked forever for a set of mounts to use the scope then gave up. Then when I bought my first Contender it had a barrel with a factory mount and then the light bulb went on.   If it is a weaver or picatinny style then it is aftermarket.
