You do know that shooting 50 BMG is cheaper. You can find surplus 50 BMG for less than most 338LM ammo. There are plenty of 50BMG rifles out there under $3K. The only drawback is the weight of the gun.   Or another option is 300WM. It is also a lot cheaper to reload as well as the fact most places will have 30oWM on the shelf. It can also be found in most standard actions which leave a lot of money over for optics, stocks or any other upgrades. You could easily build a R700 in this caliber and sit it in an AI stock for well under your budget.   The 338LM is great until you have to feed it. Also, there is no aftermarket support for most of the platforms chambered in it. The 300WM is just the opposite and has tons of aftermarket options.

Probably 2 months out according to what they told me. But they have historically over estimated the times as well.

They do rides throughout the year so I assume they have a riders group.   I am unsure about the transfer process. The big question is if there is a $20 application fee. The $75 member dues probably have to be paid.   I know of no public range that allows full auto fire. John Sevier range, Norris and Moose do not. There was a range in Sneedville that allowed it but I have no clue if it is still open. It was a range and go cart track. It was a nice range because it allowed you to shoot to 550 yards and the layout was nearly perfect. I quit going when the owner's 13 year old daughter had a diva moment and lied to her father.

Mine went pending June 29th and when I made my call on Monday I was told it would be 3 more months.   I submitted them April 1st, 2013.

I have personally spoke with our examiner. He told me that all new trusts submitted since the proposed rule change were being put in a box and were not being worked on. He said they did not want to start working on them then have to go back and work on them again. Now I will say that one of the pre examiners is probably full of it because of something he told me. I will not repeat it because it was so outrageous.

Going to have a hard time finding someone to reload for you for liability reasons.   Another thing is it is against the law to manufacture ammunition for sale, which is what the person would be doing, without proper licensing.   With that being said I would like to hear about these special rounds.

More importantly, who was the "Greg" on Doomsday Preppers tonight? Said he is from south of Nashville. He built a reflective tree house as a bug out location. He covered it with mirror like relflective material. Really cool as it reflected the surrounding greens and trees that hid it pretty well. I think it would have been better if it were closer to the ground but it was really cool none the less.

The powder coating I use is safe to 3,200 fps. No clue where the epoxy fails but it will not work better for me than powder coating because everything I shoot is well below 3,200 fps.   I watched that video early on when I was trying to find something. I found that using laquer thinner and standard powder coating powder worked extremely well. But even with that being said I have moved on to using a powder coating gun. I like how the gun gives a nice looking bullet but it doesn't perform any better than the alquer thinner method.   There are some that are actually putting their bullets in a tumbler with dry powder coating powder. They say it gives a nice even coat and then you pout it out onto a screen to save the excess. I have not tried it yet but I will because I hate using the gun even though it gives amazingly beautiful bullets. I prefer ease over looks. They have also mentioned that if you tumble the cast bullets too long it will reduce the size.

Pin/weld method has been done by a lot of manufacturers and is acceptible. The pin must go into the barrel and then the pin must be captured by a weld.

I still have install disks for 98 and I think 95. I have threatened to install 95 on a 3ghz machine just to see how fast windows could run.

It isn't like January 1st your XP machine will not turn on. If it has been running reliably then I would not worry too much about it.   I ran a 98 machine for about 5 years after they quit supporting it.

How about a link to the barrel you are talking about?   A blind pin may not be visible to the naked eye. A good smith will be able to pin a flash hider with no evidence it is pinned. If it is blind pinned there is no requirement to do any of the other things like welding or soldering.   It is perfectly legal to sell a 14.5" barrel it is up to the purchaser to ensure they use it in a legal manner.

Is your current stock an Accustock?

The biggest fireball I ever recall seeing from a firearm was a guy who had a 7mm Remington Ultra Mag cut to ~16" for use as a brush gun. It was super loud and shot a ball of flame the size of a basketball and two feet long. It would knock the empty 22 boxes off of my bench every time he shot. I have sat next to those short barreled 223's and they are very loud as well, almost painful, even with muffs on. So even with a 14" gun you are going to have to wear hearing protection, more so if it has any kind of a brake. But 14" is a lot better than a 10".   Have you considered a different caliber? 22 Hornet is capable as long as you keep it to moderate ranges. If you want a little more punch you could open it up to a K Hornet.

Good thing for you all long actions are the same size between the action bolts. So the only other concern is whether it is a stagger or center feed.   The easiest way to tell is if the rear of the bolt has a cocking indicator in it. When they switched from stagger to center feed they also added a cocking indicator to the rear of the bolt. When the gun is cocked and ready ro fire there should be a rod almost sticking out of the recess in the rear of the bolt. If it is a stagger feed it will look like a 1/4" allen wrench hole.   Another indicator is the barrel nut. If the barrel nut is smooth it is, for the most part, a center feed. If the barrel nut has grooves in it then it generally is a stagger feed. But during the transition it may have had either.   The other way to tell is to load two rounds in the magazine. Then look straight down into the magazine. If there is about 1/4 of the second round showing it is a stagger feed. If all you see is the top round then it is a center feed.   If the rear of the receiver has a flat area (like a Remington 700) then it is 100% stagger feed. If the rear of the receiver is round it can be either a stagger or center feed depnding on the descriptions above.   If the bolt release is on the bottom of the stock in front of the trigger guard it is a center feed. If the bolt release is on the right side of the action it can be either a center or stagger feed depending on the descriptions above.   110, 111, 112, 114, 116 are all the same actions. The only difference is whether it is a center or stagger feed. For the most part the action screw spacing is the same for all long actions regardless of year. There were a few odd models.   What kind of stock are you looking at.

And for those of you who haven't held one it is a HEAVY gun as well as being bulky. The sights seemed really cheap too.

It is a great range if you like shooting with little, or no, other shooters around.   It has a rifle and pistol range. The rifle range is a concrete building that is covered. It has target stands at 50, 75 and 100 yards. You can shoot to about 135 yards. The pistol range is a car port and is about 25 yards if I remember right. They have a porta potty at the ranges and an actual bathroom at the main building.   The Moose Lodge also has a bar, a pool and a putting range. They have weekly dinners for members as well as special functions throughout the year like motorcycle rides, banquets and other things.

Not all bullet makers do but most do.   What bullet do you have OP? We have tons of people who are knowledgeable here that can give you a decent starting point.
