  1. Matter of fact I have an inclination to sticky it for all the world to see.
  2. It has only been one for several years now and he is about to leave. No clue who the current or future examiner is. I guess you could call and ask, we are region 8.
  3. It depends on the amps.   If you use a low amp trickle charger I would say several hours but check every 30 minutes. If you use a welder it can be done in as little as 10 minutes. Problem with using a big power source is it can eat things such as springs pretty quickly.   Make sure to use about a tablespoon of washing soda, not baking soda, for each 5 gallons of water. The more washing soda you use the less it seems to work. One tablespoon seems to be about the right ratio for 5 gallons. I would also suggest using HOT water. It seems to help the process along as well as helping dissolve the washing soda.   When I did mine I used a trickle battery charger on 6 amps and checked it ever 30 minutes. Also, do not do it inside as the mixture gives off hydrogen gas which is very explosive.
  4. I found an AR magazine that had been loaded since at least 1985. This was probably 4-5 years ago so the magazine had been loaded well over 30 years. I unloaded the rounds that were in it and loaded fresh ammo and shot it. I still have it and it still shoots great.
  5. The newspaper didn't come to this conclusion, the FBI did.
  6. What platform?   An AR has to worry about cycling. An H&R or bolt gun doesn't and you can use different kinds of powders.
  7. Ebay, tire shops and dental offices
  8. I cast so for me the cost of my subsonic loads is 4.4 cents and my supers are 7.3 cents.
  9. Want to increase the brightness of reticles?   If the scope uses a 2032 battery then buy and double up on 2016 batteries. Yes it is crazy and yes it does work. The 2016 batteries are exactly 1/2 as thick but the same voltage as the 2032's. You double them up and they double the voltage as well as the brightness.   I was told this and laughed to myself thinking it couldn't be this easy. Then when I got home I tried it in a scope that I had that was notoriously dim and afterwards I could use it in bright son.   I will caution that it may not work with optics that have circuits like a Doctor, Burris FastFire and the like but it definitely works with rheostat optics.
  10. Ok, then we need to quit using the FBI statistics to support gun ownership.   Can't say their data is wrong then use their wrong data to support us.   Tennessee, from what I have seen, does have a lot of crime compared to some of the other places I have lived. I lived in San Antonio and never heard about as many murders or violent crime as here. Same thing when I lived in a little town in Alabama. I moved here and within a month I found out the property we were renting had someone murdered on in months earlier. And within 6 months of living there someone drove by and shot at our house. The best I can tell they did that was because we still had Alabama plates on our car.   Every single night on the news is someone being robbed, assaulted or murdered...EVERY NIGHT!!!
  11. The FBI propaganda machine? Yeah right.    We quote the FBI statistics to support our gun rights but now that we don't agree with those statistics then the FBI must be full of it. http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2012/crime-in-the-u.s.-2012/tables/5tabledatadecpdf   Honestly, I can see Tennessee being a violent state. I know in my little town crime is rampant, violent and non violent. In my county it is amazing at how many people are victims. Most don't even call LE anymore because our sheriff has publically, in a newspaper, said not to call unless it is a life threatening emergency. He even said if you have been burglarized come in the next business day to file a report and don't call them. I have several friends who have been robbed and called 911 but the officers never showed. When they called back to find out where the officers were they were told the officers would not be coming because the robber is likely already gone so there is nothing the officers could do.   Here is my little towns response to our sheriff's inability to provide even the most basic services. http://www.wate.com/story/23975463/blaine-residents-packing-heat-to-protect-themselves-from-crime   Our sheriff stepped down after three inmates escaped on a Friday and his officers did not notice the missing inmates until Sunday. The TBI and FBI came in and took over operations for a few weeks. He hadn't been in his office for over a year prior to this. He was impossible to find or to get a hold of and has been talking through third parties to the authorities wanting to question him because he, just like 7 of the last 8 sheriffs, has been suspected of being involved in criminal activity. We had a previous sheriff that ran and insurance fraud scam. His officers would file false reports then receive checks from the insurance for vehicles that were not damaged at all. They were caught but all charges were dropped after rumors surfaced a lot more people in our local government were involved.   In our county we have criminals who have killed people get sentenced to 48 hours in jail. We have people who plead guilty to aggravated robbery or aggravated assault and get a sentence of time served after being in jail for a few weeks. If they don't hurt anyone during their crimes they often get their charges dismissed.
  12. Why should the parents be serving time?   The kid should have been charged as an adult and spend 1/2 of his life in prison. The family's wealth prevented justice from being served. The judge should be removed from the bench as well. She is not running for reelection next year, likely because the family have made her retirement fund big enough that she can retire. This is clearly a case of someone's innocence being bought and paid for.   The kid will not learn a thing and will commit a alcohol related crime again within six months. Hopefully there will be no innocents killed the next time around.   This honestly enrages me to a point that I wish harm upon the 16 year old to save others that he will likely kill. You can look at him and see it in his eyes, "I am better than you and I can do whatever what I want".
  13. Hate to say it but conservatives will never again hold both houses and the presidency. We have reached the tipping point where there are more who will actually vote for the liberal agenda than conservatives that will show up to vote.
  14. Nah, they can be found cheaper. http://www.ebay.com/itm/650nm-Red-Laser-Sight-CREE-LED-Flash-Light-Combo-fo-rifle-shotgun-20mm-Rail-/121225113267?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c39946eb3
  15. As awful as it seems be aware of the fact that the left has planted child porn on notable conservative's computers in the past. If I remember correctly it was a conservative newspaper editor.   If it is true I say string him up by his feet or put him in general population so the inmates can deal a bit of justice.
  16. Had the boy kissed another boy then there would not be a problem. Or at least they would have been afraid of discriminating against a gay 6 year old.
  17. The Maverick is a lot more ergonomic with a pistol grip stock because of the safety location. I would choose a Maverick 99 out of 100 times because all the 500 accessories seem to fit it without problems and the Maverick is hundreds of dollars cheaper.
  18. As long as we know what is going to be discussed and voted on before the convention. Having a bunch of politicians get together to discuss something as huge as an amendment might corrupt some that we think cannot be corrupted. Those in power see those of us who are armed as a threat. They have classified us as terrorists, declared us as mentally ill for wanting to own guns and attack any service member who declares their oath to the Constitution. For several decades those in power have tried to remove guns from our hands because we are a threat to their corrupt ways. Some, or maybe even all, might see a Constitutional Convention as a quick way to remove the threat and assure they remain in power.   The place to fight is at the local level, we have been in last place as far as getting involved. Make calls, donate time and money as well as just engage people in conversations. What we do now is sit on our hands and wait for someone to come along we agree with. But if that doesn't happen then we decide not to vote as a means of protest. I know it is easier to sit around and do nothing and even easier to not go to the polls but if we do not support out candidates long before election day we will never see their name on a ballot.
  19. Oh, in case you are wondering a bullet doesn't need a full rotation in the barrel to be stable. If that was the case then most pistols would be unstable because they are almost all 1:15 or slower.
  20. Why do you want a 1:5?   There is not a 30 caliber bullet in existence that will not stabilize in a 7 twist.
  21. 300 whisper, 300-221 and 300 Blackout ammunition is for all purposes is the same. The differences is in the chamber, like the 223/5.56. A Whisper chamber is a few thousandths tighter here and there compared to the Blackout. I have both and actually prefer the Whisper chamber. The shoulder on 300 Whisper ammo is ever so slightly longer at the shoulder but that is well within the tolerances of the chamber and loaded ammunition. They are so close the Hornady has publically said they are the same. Any of their ammunition or dies says it is for Whisper/Blackout guns. Here are the chamber drawings: You will notice that the 300 Whisper is a little tighter all the way around. I am guessing this is for the same reason it is done to 5.56 and that is to help with reliability.
  22. I have wrote three and have had two returned with opinions.   One opinion I called about and was told it was perfectly legal but the supervisor said to write the letter because unless my name was on it his opinion didn't matter. I wrote the letter and 3 months later I got a letter saying just the opposite of what the supervisor had told me. I called the supervisor and told him the agent had opined the exact opposite of what he had said. I asked if he could fix it and he said he would not reverse the agent's ruling on the matter even though he disagreed with the ruling.   The second ruling was more of a shot in the dark and never really expected them to rule in my favor.   The third, which asked for clarification on some trust issues, was never returned. I assumed it was because they were consulting with staff lawyers and honestly forgot about it until I found a copy of the letter I had sent.   The reason why you need a ruling with your name on it is because different agents can rule differently on the same issue. A ruling that applies to me may nto apply to the enxt person. On the major issues they generally rule the same but it is also possible to the random agent who opines totally against the grain.
  23. That ruling was the one I was talking about. It is in the link as 2010-513   BTW, that opinion applies to only one person. The person to whom it was addressed because it is a private letter ruling. Feel free to call the ATF and ask if a private letter ruling applies to everyone. I have asked and have been told the only letters that matter are the ones with my name at the top, of which I have several.
  24. I would buy a short barrel before ordering a barrel and later having it cut down. I am actually debating on buying a short barrel myself and setting the 16" aside for now rather than cut those 7" off.   BTW, Alpha has a few in stock. Here is a 14.5" with a .750" gas pad. I think they have seen the need for them.   In the past they have had short barrels in stock for $120 which is a deal.
  25. It is illegal to take a rifle and configure it into something other than a rifle.
