  1. How long ago was that? Even 2 years ago when the process was fast it still took a few weeks.
  2. Cost is not the issue, Ernie's quality of life is. If we were concerned with cost we would have quit a long time ago. There was a reason why I call him our $4K dollar boxer, hopefully he doesn't end up being our million dollar man. :)
  3. Yeah, you should be fine then.
  4. Your headspace is already set unless you, yourself, installed the barrel extension, drilled your gas port and installed the locator pin.
  5. I would fire and not get concerned unless it presents a problem.
  6. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their kind words.   It appears Ernie is doing well.   The last time this happened he was really close to death. He spent several days in the vet in what was pretty much intensive care. The last time we did not catch it as early as this time. We have a few new options to hopefully prevent it from happening again.
  7. I have one of these and it is great. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLACK-Stainless-Micro-Adjustable-Gas-Block-750-Mil-Spec-556-Made-in-USA-By-BTE-/171199312132?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27dc463104   http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stainless-Micro-Adjustable-Gas-Block-750-Mil-Spec-556-Made-in-USA-By-BTE-/181243919159?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a32fabb37
  8. Can't beat a 9mm, especially for practicing for matches. My wife loves hers and it has been dead nuts reliable. Ours has close to 10K rounds through it now. Oh, and they are a lot easier to bump fire as well.
  9. And the need to go to a heavier or lighter buffer can be eliminated with an adjustable gas block. Most guns are over gassed as it is so running an adjustable gas block should be the first upgrade of any AR.
  10. They do. I have never known them to do anything other than coat AK's.
  11. A gimmick that is not needed.
  12. Predator Custom Shop generally does not work on AK's. They generally send it out to the smith at Coal Creek Armory.
  13. Yeah, there are registered sear packs that can be moved from gun to gun but it is the sear that is registered and not the gun.
  14. If it was not a registered machine gun before May of 1986 it cannot be made one. There are a few exceptions with dealer samples and such but as a general rule if it wasn't a MG before the ban it cannot be made into one after.
  15. I use PC, not the various paints. After baking I cannot see it degrading. I can also see the powder coating preventing the cast bullet from hardening over time. Not having a lube groove will affect accuracy in the same way jacketed bullets are affected by not having lube grooves. I look at PC bullets as if they are plated bullets. Removing the lube grooves will add weight. But it will also prevent the bullet from being shot as cast. Having lube grooves will not affect performance and honestly not having them will not either as long as the bullet is powder coated.
  16. Here I am hanging out with an ANA soldier and an officer from the ANP. This was taken at the FOB that was the first stop for any injured soldiers coming out of the Korengal. And another in front of or barracks. And yes, I would go back in a heartbeat if I could.
  17. If you decide to pass on the safes please PM the contact info for them.
  18. The Korengal is a meat grinder. I bet that region is responsible for 50% of the injuries and deaths in Afghanistan. I know I used to sit at night and watch the onslaughts on a FOB 5K to 6K down the road. We could hear the fighting at some of the Korengal outposts and could see the flashes of light from explosions against the clouds at night.   I thought the country was beautiful in its own, moonscape, sort of way. When I show people the pictures I have they ask why I took them in black and white. I didn't but the lack of color makes it look like it. And honestly it takes a lot of hard work just to survive in the place as an Afghan. Most Americans couldn't survive a year there in the best of conditions.
  19. Honestly, I couldn't care less about the truck and if we hadn't been talking about trading it in I wouldn't have called the cops. But with that said I am glad I did because it got the guy off the road. He WAS impaired. That is why he fled on foot because he had no warrants and the truck had current registration.   Ernie is up and moving around. The litmus test, so to speak, is when he goes poo next. That will determine how bad he is and whether we are going to have to go back to the vet today. I feel so bad for him because he had a liter of water put under the skin on top of his neck. That and he was so doped up yesterday he couldn't stand up to go pee.   As much of a pain in the but he was as a puppy I am glad we got him because he is a great dog. He is the sweetest, most protective and loveable dog I have ever seen.
  20. Well we are back home and now the monitoring begins. Hoping to see him back to himself when he comes out of the drug induced stupor he is in now.
  21. We are treating him for pancreatitis again. Hopefully we get some more time with him. This sucks.
  22. So our boxer has had issues with his pancreas in the past. It almost killed him earlier this year. Since then he has been on special food and it seemed like it was stable. Well tonight he started acting like his pancreas was failing again. So at 9pm we are off to the vet. About 15 minutes into the trip our boxer, Ernie, threw up in the car. So we pulled into a gas station to inspect and clean it up. So while my wife was inside buying paper towels some guy parked next to us decides to side swip the truck as he backed out. Before he hit us I was on the horn and he continued to back up. He didn't do a lot of damage but it was still an accident. I approached him and seen he was upset that we were honking at him. He made excuses as to why it was his fault. Our car was stationary so it was his fault. And because he was pretty animated I decided to call the cops. As I was calling he began yelling that I didn't need to call the cops. Well after the call he went inside. And when the cops arrived it turned out the driver fleed on foot. He acted like he was on something although I didn't smell alcohol. So the driver's car is being towed. A hold is being put on it until he talks to the responding officer. The officer is going to charge him with fleeing the scene of an accident. So now we are back on the road to head to the vet to try to save our Ernie's life. Wish him well.
  23. Wright   Give me a call.
  24. That is great.
  25. I can guarantee you do not need a barrel vice to remove a flash hider. That is unless it has some super, duper thread locker.
