Once the Fed actually makes it law then they can change the wording of that law without the need of any legislative legwork. Right now, as it has been for a very long time, NFA stuff on a trust doesn't need backgrounds on trustees. Without passing a law they have changed the regulations requiring a background on trustees. This is going to cause a lot of problems, and costs, for people that weren't there before. And this was done with very little input. They asked for people to comment on it but we, as citizens, can't hold their feet to the fire like we can our representatives because we can't vote out those who are making the changes to the NFA. Look at the EPA. There have been very few laws passed over time but they opine or rewrite regulations to further encroach on people. It is not the law you have to worry about, it is the rules and regulations that will be implemented after it has been made a law. Look at the monster that ObamaCare has become. It was passed on a ~1,100 page document that has not reached well beyond 20K pages as they make up the regulations for it. Same thing would happen with a federal HCP mandate. It would go from a simple law that was passed to something that you would need to hire a lawyer to decipher. This is what would happen with anything related to firearms on a federal level. If the Fed did pass this then the Fed would make some sort of regulatory agency that is responsible for figuring out what should be and shouldn't be legal. And no doubt that the head of the regulatory agency responsible for determining what is legal would be appointed, like most others, by the president. And just because we might start out with a decent person in charge, a few election cycles later we might end up with a Pelosi or Feinstein as the head of the regulatory agency responsible for deciding who can, how they can and where they can carry. And what might be legal today could be changed with the stroke of a pen rather than by congress just like the NFA trust issue. And those changes would not be something we would hear about until after it has been changed like most things done by the Fed. And in the beginning, by default, they would likely use the most restrictive laws as a template to hopefully avoid a lawsuit by those restrictive states and then from there is would only get more restrictive. The Fed does not have a habit of loosening restrictions.

Yeah, it keeps the same amount of powder weight at the bottom regardless whether the hopper is full or nearly empty.

Make sure you have a powder baffle in your powder measure. That single piece of equipment settled my charges down. I am getting SD numbers that are single digit and I "blame" that on the baffle. Here is a great resource for making your own: http://www.allmantrading.com/reloading/baffle.pdf I use old license plates to make them. They are easily cut with a pair of heavy duty scissors.

I assume you have a carbine length gas sytem. I never really liked A1680 in my 300 Blackout but I understand those with a carbine length gas system are pretty much stuck with it. -
One day I will make it. I really wish they would do an east coast show once.

Found a rifle at the base of tree, what is it?
Dolomite_supafly replied to serbu50's topic in General Chat
Also make sure to put in the description that you believe it was the rifle used to kill Billy the Kid. It is definitely a Winchester. If possible I would try to clear the chamber. -
I would make sure you are back some. I was shooting my 1911 and was getting very high numbers. I kept decreasing the charge but never seen an decrease of the velocity. I backed the chronograph off by 10 feet and the numbers settled down. When I say high numbers I mean 2,000+ fps out of a 1911 shooting 200 grain bullets. What was likely happening is unbirnt powder or the wave of gas was beating the bullets to the chronograph. The gas wave can set the sensors off if the conditions are right. I have also had 223 loads that had a velocity of under 600 fps. The particles were beating the bullet then slowing down before crossing the screens. And one more thing. Some chronographs can give sketchy numbers under clear blue skys. I would tape a piece of paper between the sky screens and sometimes I would even enclose the screens in paper. One more thing that can affect it to is floresent or LED lighting. They flash and that can affect how the sensors read velocity.

I got scammed by a user as well. For years my brother "borrowed" money. swore he would pay it back but never did. Honestly I knew he couldn't but I ws doing much better than him so I didn't mind helping him out. Every week or two he would hit me or my wife up for money. Towards the end he would even flaunt it by telling us he had a date with "Crystal". I found out later from a mutual friend it ws his way of flaunting the fact he was using the moeny to buy drugs. At the same time my mother would borrow money that I later found out would go to my brother. When I found out I cut them both off as far as getting cash. I told them I would buy them what they needed but I would never hand them cash again. My mother and brother quit talking to me then 3 months later he grabbed an AK, assaulted our mother on his way out of her house then headed to my house to kill my family and me. Luckily LE scared him into the woods before he actually got to my house. We had the SWAT team in a creek in front of our house watching it until he was caught a few hours later. My brother refused to drop the gun but the officers tackled him rather than shoot him. In the end all my brother's charges were dropped by our screwed up courts in our county. Because he is on social security for mental issues they sent him for a mental eval and he was released a week after he assaulted our mother, tried to kill us and then had a standoff with officers. Since then he has been in all kinds of trouble for assaulting our mother and father. Before he tried to kill us he even bragged about how he was going to kill us but LE said they could not do anything unless he acted. Our county clerk said it was a civil matter and I needed to sue him for slander. I called her and idiot and walked out of the court house. I have been shot at a lot but the day I thought I was going to have to kill my brother was the scariest day in my life. Luckily the sheriff's office called and gave us a warning that he was on his way. Then after everything was said and done my mother asked me if it was worth it. She sid if I would have just kept giving them money he wouldn't have tried to kill us. So in the end my mother, father and brother tell people it was our fault for not giving them any more money. -
Yeah, I win. I called the gas key in my first post. So what do I win?

It makes me sick all the time. When we are checking out I stand in front of the registers and watch for the "patriotic" cards and what is being bought is disgusting. They are buying stuff we cannot afford but wish we could. What happened to the old days were you got "gov't" cheese, milk, cereal, eggs and a few other minor things. Personally I would like them to send the food directly to the family. It would help the USPS stay afloat and reduce the amount of abuses. And only those who truly need it would want to have blocks of cheese and the few other nutritionally adequate items. I have said it several times but there is a local lady who uses her EBT card to buy tuna for her cats and it is the expensive packs, not the cans. She brags about how the government is buying her cats tuna. She said she would not buy them tuna if they would let her buy catfood on her EBT card. And she doesn't dress, act or drive a car that suggests she is in need of any benefits yet every month she comes in and buys packs of tuna for her cats. Something else that is disgusting is that it is illegal to ask for the ID to see if the card matches the user. My brother gave his EBT card to another person to use. The store told me about it and I asked why they accepted it. They said they called the agency that manages the EBT system and they said you cannot ask for ID because of privacy reasons. They said if they did then the store would not be allowed to accept EBT any longer. This only breeds fraud. BTW, my brother receives Social Security disability for his "mental condition" related to his long ter illegal drug use. His long term drug use has fried his brain so he gets a check, food stamps as well as free healthcare. His benefits and free healthcare has supported his illegal drug habit because he sells his prescription meds and his EBT for illegal drugs. As part of his healthcare he was part of a program where they gave them his drug of choice, opiates, but monitored it and slowly weened him from it. Funny part was he said that when he completed the program he would just piss dirty and he could go right back on the program so for over a year the taxpayers paid for his drug habit. When I found out he was scamming the drug program I quit driving him and at that point they gave him 6 months worth of "doses" at once and expected him to not abuse it. Needless to say his 6 months worth of "doses" didn;t last very long. The worst part is they can receive a portion of their benefits as cash to spend as they see fit. I watched a couple that were obviously meth users pull cash out of the ATM in front of me using their EBT card. -
Polymer cased ammo has been around for a very long time. Been at least 20 years since I first heard about it.

I think he wants the front sight gone and only a micro gas block left. It takes me about 15 minutes to do myself. Just curious, why not just install a micro gas block instead? The gas blocks cost less than $20 shipped.

This is why Midway will never get my biz again!!!!!
Dolomite_supafly replied to serbu50's topic in General Chat
I have been slowly weaning myself off Midway. Used to be the place I would go to all the time. They would even beat out Brownells' dealer discounts pretty regularly with their coupons. Slowly the coupons have been disappearing or you find specialized coupons for a particular item. Honestly, now I just cruise Ebay for all my gun related stuff. Almost anything you can find on Midway you can find on Ebay for cheaper. Off course I can't get 22 from Ebay but I don't shoot a lot of 22 anymore. And for reloading supplies we all know where to go to get them. Ebay has relaxed a lot of their gun related bans as of late. You can buy anything other than a lower and upper receiver for an AR on Ebay. Best part is there is no such thing as backordered. You can buy it now for retail or you can wait out an auction and generally get an item for less than retail. -
And what can cause the gun to go from being fine to over gassed? Going from fine to under gassed is pretty easy to do but fine to a point where there is too much gas is pretty hard to do.

Recommend a suppressor and dealer
Dolomite_supafly replied to Howler's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
If you plan on shooting cast bullets at all you need to get a suppressor you can take apart. That limits your options pretty significantly. I am building mine so I can take it apart. As far as who to use it is a no brainer, Mike at Law Enforcement Sales. I have had him do a few things for me so far and it has been painless. -
Probably so the farmer out checking his livestock doesn't have to run back to the house to grab an orange vest if he gets a chance to take a shot.

Scope with a very short eye relief??
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Anyone got one of those Chinese ACOG knockoffs? They seem to have a very short eye relief according to documentation. They are also clear enough for the project and lack the coatings on the lenses that can interfere. -
We have an active pay it forward thread right now. I am on my phone and can't find it. In all honesty though feel free to post stuff you want to give away in general chat. It must be 100% free though. You cannot accept anything in return or ask for anything. And I ask that we get notified if anyone giving stuff away in general asks for anything. And finally, thank you. I like seeing things like this. It is always a welcome sight.

You do realize that the sign you picked up wasn't yours. May not seem like much but stealing is stealing regardless of the amount and someone paid for that sign. Just because it is in a public place doesn't mean you can do with it what you please.

Is the fuel gelled? The lines runnign from the tank to the engine could be gelled up preventing fuel from moving.
