  1. Also realize that cities annex all the time. Our little town has grown by 3x the residents in the last 10 years despite people leaving because they continue to expand the city limits. What was once in the county may be in the city in the future unless you are WAY out.   There is not a law on the books that will prevent you from getting arrested, even if the officers are 100% wrong and you are 100% right. Knowing the law will help you when you get in front of a judge but I can assure you that if an officer wants to arrest you then you will be arrested. Legally you cannot physically resist to avoid arrest even if you are 100% right. If the officers are going to arrest you then you can either go to jail on the bogus charge and have it dropped later or you can resist and get charged with resisting arrest which will stick even if the officers were wrong for arresting you. If they are going to arrest you they are not going to want to hear what the law says. And one more thing, being abrasive when they show up is not the best course of action either.   DaveTn gave the best advice in talking to the agency that will be responding to any calls. I even invited them to my place to shoot.
  2. Used barrels, which is what it is, run $60-$150 depending on what it is. Sporter barrels run $60-$100 and varmint weight barrels run $100-$150.
  3. For your dishwasher make sure its drain line is above the drains of the sinks. I normally loop it up and over the cabinet that should be next to it. If you don't then every time you drain the sinks it will fill the dishwasher. I had a friend who fought this for years then found out all they needed to do was make sure the dishwasher drain hose was higher than the sink drains.   They will probably not line up but it should not be too hard to get everything lined back up. Might have to buy a few pipes but fortunately drain pipes are super cheap.
  4. In Alabama they have no duty to retreat. He stood his ground and killed someone who was intent on hurting others. Additionally, I don't believe one has to prove or admit they were afraid if they are protecting another person.
  5. Why not just use necked down 45 ACP brass? Would make it more appealing to people rather than some sort of proprietary piece of brass. Or you could even use any brass from a caliber based on 308 Winchester. You could use the same bolt as what is used for a 458 SOCOM which is probably about as easy to find as a bolt for 7.62x39 right now.   Looking at the case size they are very limited on either bullet weight or powder charge.   Not sure this is is better, in any way, than the 458 SOCOM.
  6. You MUST have a trust or some sort of incorporation to eFile. As an individual you cannot eFile.
  7. I will say that it isn't the Democrats or Republicans or Independents that are the problem. It is incumbents that are the problem. Every single politician is the same when they start out. Their first term in Washington they are all about doing what is right and what is best for the country. Then by the second or third term they turn like zombies. They see all the other representatives making millions with backdoor deals and decide they want to be a part of it so they turn. Then those who were outspoken with public speeches suddenly fall silent and what was once votes for the country turn into votes to fill their own pockets.   When Chris Christie first came into office there were all kinds of people saying he was a concervative's conservative and savior to the Republican party. There were some who were even saying he should run for president. Look at him now, he has become part of the problem not only for the Republican party but for New Jersey and for the country. He has even passed some of the worst gun control laws in the country as of late. Hard for me to believe he is a conservative if he is for gun control as well as Obamacare. He condemned Obamacare but now he endorses it, no doubt because some backdoor deal will make him rich from it.   Ted Cruz, they next savior of the Republican party will fall in line soon as well. He may have already changed because the once ouspoken representative is now quiet. I suspect he is turning into a zombie as well. It will have happened in record time and was definitely one of the biggest reversals in a long time. He should never be allowed to run for president anyways because he has maintained the citizenship of a foreign country well into adulthood. I can understand if you were a dual citizen then denounce as soon as you become an adult but he has felt an allegiance strong enough to a foreign country to maintain that citizenship.   Because of the decades of being abused by encumbents. both Republican or Democrat, I will never vote for an encumbent again. If I have to vote for a liberal to oust a crooked and embedded Republican so be it. I would rather take a chance on someone who will, more than likely, put the country first than someone who has proven to put themselves ahead of the country.
  8. Those gas blocks that use setscrews and dimples at the bottom are the WORST gas blocks to use.   Clamp on are the best because you can adjust them to ensure they are lined up right. Clamps on blocks also apply pressure around the entire circumference while the set screw types only apply pressure at the setscrews and directly across from the setscrews. This leaves a lot of area not being used to hold the gas block in place and depending on the gas block or barrel itself can also lead to gas leaks.   I do have a FSB that I cut down but now I swap the gas blocks to install adjustable gas blocks. I do this because 90% of the AR's, and barrels, hitting the market have oversized gas ports and are over gassed. The manufacturers install a heavy weight buffer to try to mask the symptoms rather than fix the problem which is oversized gas ports.
  9. To refresh everyone's memory this is the same guy who was going to perform the C section on his wife. Hopefully the kid isn't his because I don't want his genes being passed on to anyone.
  10. I hope they put him under the jail.   He is an idiot and honestly things would have probably been a lot better had his body armor failed.
  11. I have not dealt with trusts so I might be talking out of my ass. What about ammending the trust to add the potential purchaser as the successor trustee then you step down so he could be the controlling party?   I am not sure if you could amend the trust or not..
  12. I am going to spend some time tomorrow trying to see how fast I actually can shoot. I think I have an app that can give me a rate of fire.
  13. You are not going to hurt anything by shooting it with the buffer.   As far as getting the heavy weight buffer I would not waste the money on it. Adding a heavy buffer only fixes the symptoms and doesn't address the real problem most AR's have. Most AR's made these days are overgassed. The factorys do it for two reasons, first is so the gun will cycle with the low powered foreign ammo and second is because they use the same gas port spec for a 14.5" barrel on a 16" barrel. The heavier buffer was the branchild of manufacturers who made guns with the ports too large.   If you want to truly have a gun that is running correctly you need to make sure the gas port is the correct size. And if it is too big, from the factory, you need an adjustable gas block and not a heavier buffer. A heavier buffer does not prevent the bolt from unlocking early. It does not prevent too much gas from making it into the bolt carrier. A heavy buffer doesn't prevent more crud from getting in the upper and it especially doesn't prevent gasses from hitting the shooter's face when shooting suppressed.   With a rfile length gas system the gas pressures are not as much of an issue as with carbine length gas systems. A properly gassed rifle length gas system literally feels like a 22. You can ask several people here who have shot my properly gassed 5 pound AR and they will tell you it doesn't recoil at all or at least not enough to notice.
  14. I would buy it. I actually like the industrial, minimalistic look of it. They can keep the wood and replace it with some sort of bakalite or other plastic.
  15. And then those who are not allowed are the ones who are violent. Forget misdemeanor or felony distinction. It should be violent vs non-violent. If a person has proven to be violent, regardless if the charge is only a misdemeanor, they should be barred from owning firearms. Now if a person is a felon, but non-violent, they should be allowed to own a firearm.   Honestly the $200 isn't that bad but it should not be regulated anyways.   I know some people who would not buy unless they could walk out with it and to those I say suppressors are well worth the wait. Everything else isn't really worth the wait to me. I am waiting to SBR my AR but that is only because it will have a suppressor added to the barrel. I spent 10 years debating on buying or building but when I finally took that first shot with my suppressor I realized I should have jumped on it years earlier. There is nothing more satisfying that shooting a super quiet subsonic bullet at steel. Especially if the target is at 100+ yards. There is something mesmerizing about "poof", as the bullet fires, then a few seconds later you hear the "tink" of the bullet hitting the target. I have shot thousands of suppressed rounds and it still makes me giggle like a school boy after getting his first kiss.   Then there is the practical use of a suppressor. I have used mine off the range all the time. Being able to shoot at 2am without anyone the wiser is a great thing to be able to do.   My Form 1 can for my 300 BlackoutWhisper will be HUGE. It will be bigger than anything out there right now and that is because I want it to be as quiet as humanly possible. I am hoping to have it slingshot quiet. My AR will be tuned to barely cycle with one load so it is as quiet as possible. But when I really want quiet I will attach the suppressor to either my bolt gun or my Contender in 300 Whisper.
  16. As the bolt comes back it hits the hammer. Then the hammer hits the "lever" at the rear of the trigger and that action overcomes the presure of you pulling the trigger. At that point the trigger moves forward, even if you are still pulling it, to a point where the hammer catches on the trigger again. All that needs to happen then is apply pressure again to fire the gun again. The catch is reapplying pressure at the exact moment the trigger catches the hammer again. A rubber band would apply pressure at the precise moment the trigger CAN release the hammer again.
  17. The bolt coming back applies more pressure than what is needed to pull the trigger. The bolt applyign pressure is enough to overcome your finger so it would also be enough to overcome a rubber band. And once it resets the rubber band would apply enough to release the hammer.   The rubber band's elastic property is the cycling mechanism for it.
  18. I have watched every video I have seen on this trigger and I am not too impressed. I think it is more about being able to flip the selector another 90 degrees than it is shooting fast. I have seen tons of 3 gun guys who can shoot faster than anyone I have seen shoot using this trigger.     Btw, it is perfectly legal to install a FA safety in your gun to get that extra 90 degrees so long as your gun doesn't actually shoot full auto.
  19. I better way would be to figure out a way to apply pressure while still having some give. A heavy rubber band or a glove with a small balloon on the trigger finger would work. Both would allow enough give to allow the trigger to reset while still applying enough pressure to pull the trigger.
  20. USPS ships long guns without any problems. I have shipped several and even notified the postmaster I was shipping a firearm.   Federal law allows you to ship ANY firearm to yourself but finding a place to ship it might be a problem but it is legal to do so.   I understand that if it is going to someone else it has to go to a FFL but I wonder how USPS would rule if the receiver was the same as the shipper?
  21. I think if they continue to regulate certain NFA items there should be some sort of frequent flyer program. Initially you go through an extensive background. After that you fill out a form that asks you disqualifying questions. If you lie on the form you could be charged criminally for lying on the form as well as possession of an illegal NFA item. Personally nothing should be regulated, only regulate who can own them. If you are allowed to own a single shot 22 you should be allowed to own a MG, a tank or a fighter jet if you want to. If you can't own that 22 because you are violent or insane then you should not be allowed to own any type of firearm.
  22. I wish silencers were unregulated. If they were our military would benefit from the advances made by individuals. I have read a lot of different theories about how to make them better but individuals can't afford to experiment and most companies don't want to hear from individuals about their ideas. And another thing is cost would go down. In Countries where silencers are unregulated silencers sell for 1/10 of what they do here. I would buy one for every gun I own if it didn't cost me $200, plus the cost of the can, for each one.
  23. Excellent pistols. I have owned several and they all have been reliable and extremely accurate.
  24. If you are going to be there for any amount of time then mail the gun to yourself. Perfectly legal to mail a gun to yourself.
