  1. I have heard the 30-30 can be a bit stiff, especially as a pistol.
  2. You could also try an acidic mixture. Something like Lemishine, vinegar or lemon juice. I know it brightens brass that is pretty clean already. I am not sure it if will remove serious tarnish but it will turn most brass pink. I have actually started using acetone to clean my brass. Seems to work as well as a tumbler. Something else that helped my vibratory tumbler work better was airsoft pellets. I added some once to bulk up the media when I was running low and was pretty surprised at how well it worked. Now sure if the acetone will melt the plastic BBs and ruin your brass so I would check first. I know it worked great with Katee lizard litter walnut media, NuFinish and Flitz.
  3. For bling for the wife they also make chrome or SS FCG parts like the trigger, safety, pins and some other parts. Might be worth it to have some parts actually chromed like the bolt hold open, flash hider, mag release and maybe a front sight. The sight will be fine because the post will not be chromed. Depending on what stock you could also chrome the castle but and the the end plate. Chrome the pin for the ejection port door and maybe the forward assist. There is a lot of stuff you could chrome to bling it out more than just some pink furniture.
  4. Another caliber to look at is 300 Whisper/Blackout. It is more than capable of taking deer out to 150 yards out of a "pistol" barrel. I have a 14" and a 10" and even with full power loads they are relatively mild. I would have zero issues using them to hunt anything east of the Mississippi.
  5. Does it have an adjustable trigger?   If so back the setscrew out a 1/2 turn and see what happens.
  6. I have a HUGE problem with what the government did because it is nothing more than extortion. Claiming something is illegal, seize it then give it back after you agree magine taking this same concept and applying it to every day things. Someone gets caught with illegal drugs then the cops give it back after you agree to pay them.   If something is illegal it should never be returned and if it is returned then it should have never been seized in the first place.   It is extortion.
  7. How far down did you take it apart to clean it?
  8. If it left the factory as a rifle it cannot be converted into a pistol.
  9. Physically there are zero differences. How they left the factory does make a difference.
  10. Unions use scare tactics, harassment and threats to get into companies now. Once in they do very little for the worker other than suck union dues from the worker.   There is tons of videos of the tactics they use and it is scary. Imagine 50 people show up in front of your house with loudspeakers screaming lies about you.
  11. I appreciate it but I followed the directions of people on the UK forum I linked.
  12. And no one has mentioned either one of the two things that fail more than anything else.   Disconnect and the extractor spring. Heat kills the extractor spring, that is why most manufacturers add the o-ring. That way if it becomes weak or fails the o-ring should be enough to keep the gun going. Disconnects wear or even break. I have one with the hook bent up so much it would release the hammer before the trigger has a chance to capture it. I seen another which broke off and several more that wore enough they would not capture the hammer.   An extra bolt is not bad to have because lugs do break off. The gun will still fire with missing lugs but not for long.
  13. Roll pins are not tapered.   I have never heard of a roll pin being that tight.
  14. Find a drill bit the same size or slightly smaller. Place the cutting end on the roll pin and smack the other end with a hammer. Make sure you are wearing glasses because 5 out of 10 times the drill bit will break. If it does break then you continue to use it. You might have to use pliers to hold it to keep from smashing your fingers.
  15. The manufacturers probably did not submit a sample for reevaluation. The testing involves drop tests and some other tests and part of that law probably requires manufacturers to submit new samples periodically. The list probably represents the guns the manufacturers did not submit samples to the state. It is idiotic.
  16. This was for sale at my local IGA:
  17. This place has tons of pictures. It is an actual restaurant and those are actual pictures of the sign in from of his restaurant. http://www.casadice.com/outside_sign.htm   Goes back several years.
  18. That is pretty kick ass, especially for the price. I have always liked PA stuff and his CS is among the best anywhere.
  19. 7" and I am 20 miles east of Knoxville.
  20. I have a Savage chambered in 300 Blackout. Personally I like Savages better than Remington.   On top of my AR I also have two Contenders chambered in 300 Whisper (I call it "300 Blackout match"), one has a 10" barrel and the other has a 14" barrel with a folding stock.   I cannot wait for my NFA paperwork to come back, should be here by the end of the month.
  21. Reward, or not, if you have information to prevent or solve a crime why not come forward? There are victims that could potentially get closure.
  22. Sure it wasn't DLM37015, David? He is the only person I know that fits the description of "more powder than I have seen in a while". Might want to send him a PM here to see what he has.   You are not going to find a nicer, or cheaper, person to deal with for all your reloading supplies. He has more reloading knowledge than anyone I know and is willing to share it with anyone who asks. He is also a shooter who supports the shooting community. He also regularly gives to the next generation of shooters. He also has more of a selection of regular, and hard to find, items than anyone. He has had stuff for sale I never knew existed but he manages to get them for his customers.   If the cheap price wasn't enough to get you to buy from him then the rest of it should seal the deal.
  23. And in most other countries silencers are CHEAP. I have talked to friends in other countries where you can walk out of any sporting goods store with a silencer for cheap. Because they are not regulated a there is a lot of advances being made too. I have seen some rather odd designs that seem to work really, really well made by an average guy in a garage. That can't happen here because of the regulation. Imagine the advances that could be made if anybody could try new things? It would not only benefit us but it would also benefit our military. 99% of the equipment in use in the military today started out as a civilian version first.
  24. If the "pistol" version is over 26" overall length they CAN legally add a VFG. Once it is over 26" it is no longer a "pistol" and is considered a "firearm". And there are no restrictions on a "firearm" as far as adding a VFG.
