AR-15 Possibly Overgassed
Dolomite_supafly replied to Ted S.'s topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
A heavier buffer will not prevent the bolt from unlocking while the pressure in the barrel is still high but an adjustable gas block will. If you are running a suppressor most of the time I would tune it for it. A properly gassed gun has less felt recoil, less crud in the receiver, less crud in the face as well as less wear and tear on the gun. You could also look at getting a MicroMOA gas block. The can be had with up to three positions. Have them make it with .050" on two holes then drill them out for unsuppressed and suppressed. Or get a click adjustable block and count clicks. -

1st off, do not advertise anything for sale unless you are a benefactor. 2nd, do not try to sell anything commercially without becoming a vendor first. (It is obvious that the link you provided is connected to you) You obviously came here with an agenda. You are more than welcome to stay but you MUST follow the rules. You should have received all the rules, or links to the rules, in the email you received when you registered. Again, I welcome you to the board but you must follow the rules that are in place to protect everyone, including you. -
Absolutely no way that was a full power load.

Need to pull some bullets...

Use the impact puller. I used one to tear down 2,000+ of 7.62x25. -
I practice while watching television. I make sure the gun is unloaded then I holster it with a shirt over it like I would normally be. Then I stand in front of the television and mentally pick a color. Then when someone in screen has a shirt that color I draw and fire. It helps because you don't know when or where they might come from. It is also random because you don't know when it will happen. Could be several minutes or instantly.

Teen Posed As Gun Buyer To Rob Sellers
Dolomite_supafly replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
I always insist on a phone call, if they will not call I will not meet. Then I write the number on my palm as I am going to meet. And before I get out I drive by their car and write down the license plate on my hand as well. And I ALWAYS carry a firearm and so does the person who is with me. As far as he meeting place I use Walmart. Walmart has more cameras than probably any other place on earth and they are everywhere. -
Knox County Sherriffs Deputy chokes out handcuffed suspect.

The deal with the pension was like I said earlier. His "pension" isn't really a pension. It is money HE, the officer saved, into a savings account that the county matched. I believe the county matched up to 6% of his income as it went into the savings account but the officer could put any amount into the account. Now the account could be tied to stock, bonds or a mixture of both. And even if a person committed a criminal act they are entitled to the entirety of that savings account under the old county "retirement" system. Think of it as a 401K because that was basically what it was. How would any of us feel if we got fired and the company you worked for got to keep your 401K? The only time you cannot get the entirety of the account is before you have become fully vested. If you leave after three years, regardless of reason, you are entitled to the full amount in the account but if you leave the department before that time you only receive what you put into the account and the county gets its share back. Because he worked for the country for 22 years he can get the entirety of his savings account back. This is how the old system ran and some, like this officer, were grandfathered in. 5-6 years ago he had to make a choice to either give up his entire savings account, which likely held 100's of thousands in it, for the new system or he could choose to keep what he had. From the article it sounds like he kept what he had which was a smart move on his part because had he went tot the new system and got fired he would have been out the 100" of thousands of dollars in his retirement account. The new system is for those who have no self control and want to spend every red cent they can rather than save. Under the old system it forces officers to save their retirement. Officers that join today get screwed over. They are still required to contribute to the retirement account but if they leave, even a day before their retirement date, they loose all the money they contributed. Under the old system they could at least get the money they contributed back. I think it will lead to corruption and be used as a tool to control officers. Good officers will be afraid to do what is right for fear of loosing their retirement. -
Please oh please do not bring Tennessee into the national spotlight, especially by Christie.

I read the barrels can be regulated with set screws. How does it work and can you take close up pictures of the muzzle where they are? I have been intrigued by these for a while but was curious about how to regulate the barrels.

Those are great prices on level IV standalone plates.

Yeah, most places will allow you to pay the bond without even getting dressed out. There are set amounts for bonds for the common crimes so the booking clerk may set the bond amount based on the charges. If you do not, or cannot, make bond then you go see a commissioner or judge for a preliminary hearing. The hearing happens very quickly and that is where the suspect pleads guilty or innocent and the court date, if needed, is set. It is also during this time that an attorney is assigned if the person cannot afford one. As far as the attorney is isn't whether you want a public defender but whether you can afford an attorney. Many times I have seen people get refused a public defender, even though they wanted one, because their income was too much. And even if you are assigned a public defender you still have to pay for it eventually, they are rarely free.

Ok, I told myself I would not do this but there are plenty here who haven't seen it. BTW, these are separate incidents. I have also smashed my thumb to oblivion but no pictures of it but I did figure out how to sleep with my hand up in the air like a 3rd grader trying to get the teacher's attention. My thumb met a very sharp knife and required a trip to the ER. This one my thumb got sucked into a router bit and I decided I didn't need to go to the hospital even though I probably should have. My poor thumb doesn't even look right and the skin grows all kinds of funky. Hang in there I know your pain.

Rifle ID help needed part 2
Dolomite_supafly replied to ac3boyz's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
It does not look the same. The stain marks around the screw. behind the finger grooves, are different. -
I think the key to metal roofing is to ensure you have enough screws, especially around the edges. And then use the correct screws that have gaskets without over tightening the screws. My wife and I installed our own roof over the course of a few days. It wasn't easy but it wasn't that difficult either. The only time we have had a leak is when we hired a contractor to add an addition to our house. That area leaked like a sieve 2-3 times until they got it fixed.
-
One more thing you can put the metal on top of existing shingles so that reduces the costs as well because the existing roof doesn't need to be removed.
-
The investigation may be ongoing so they may not want to tell those not directly involved. I have seen people held for several days without charges while it is determined who is involved and who was just a witness. With that being said I have never been told a bond amount without finding out the charges at the same time.

Something else it is translates to more gas and debris in the shooter's face. Anyone who has shot my 5 pound AR is amazed because it has less recoil than guns weighing twice as much. The reason is it IS properly gassed and uses a standard buffer.
-
The vast majority of new, factory rifles are over gassed these days. Manufacturers use larger ports so their guns are not sent back for repair because they will not cycle weak, combloc ammo.
-
Yeah, I can guarantee your gun is over gassed. Most guns built in the last 10 years use a larger than needed gas port. The reason is manufacturers do not want their guns coming back for warranty work because they will not cycle weak foreign ammo. You can adjust the gas without replacing the block as well. There is a company that make a gas tube that can be adjusted. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2979396319/mgi-adjustable-gas-tube-ar-15
-
Probably not. I have asked my wife several times if she wants to sell them again and she said she does not want to. I had to look really hard to find a kit for myself this week. It was literally the last one in the house.
-
If you want it to run cleaner I would install an adjustable gas block. Your gun is most likely over gassed to deal with the weak import ammo. It also reduces the felt recoil.
