  1. I stayed out of the thread because I didn't want to fan the fire. It is pretty much done now because he is gone.   He is probably one of those who is aching for a revolution or civil war and if he is it is obvious he has never been to an area of conflict. He has probably never wondered if today is his last or had a close friend give his final breath for our country. Had he been he would be using every single tool available to prevent the very thing he longs for. There is nothing romantic or heroic about dragging our country into a war amongst itself. There are some, like him, that long for a time when they can kill a fellow American under the guise of patriotism but there is nothing less patriotic than killing your fellow countrymen when all other avenues of change have not been exhausted.   The thing is people like him are lazy, like fat slob sitting on the couch watching Honey Boo Boo reruns all day while eating potato chips lazy. They rarely want to even send an email or make a phone call even though it is a whole lot easier than fighting and definitely a lot safer.    Now don't get me wrong, I have ZERO problems with fighting for our country. But unless every other option has been exhausted I will not pick up arms and kill my fellow Americans.
  2. +1 When I was with people I knew and trusted I had no problems doing something like this. Matter of fact when doing pistol work I would move towards the target while a buddy was shooting his target. His target was about 5 yards off to the side of my target and he was at 25 yards while I would move up to 5-10 yards. I would NEVER do that on a public range or with anyone is did not know very, very well. Same thing with rifles except we would start shooting at 100 yards and move to 25 yards and we rarely moved forward at the same time. I will say that it took a few days of training before I felt comfortable with that it skills.
  3. I will post pictures later but I have a 20" gun that weighs an honest 5 pounds even.
  4. If China gets itself into a serious conflict it can affect us in a major way. Imagine if all imports from China were reduced by 50%. People in America would loose their minds until a replacement supplier stepped up. It would take a year or more for any type of US manufacturing to actually start producing from scratch. I have always said that if China stopped exporting to the US we would turn into a third world country over night because almost everything we buy, food and goods, comes from China now. Things we use day to day would disappear overnight. The question is who would survive a long term situation like that, us or China. And the really big question would be who would the US side with? If we side with everyone other than China then we risk having their imports cutoff or their refusal to lend us any more money. Or if we side with China, a communist country, and have the rest of the world condemn us.
  5. For coating the receiver I would try chalkboard paint then after it dries bake it. I pre heat the oven to 300 degrees then turn it off as I put the parts in. The stuff is very durable once baked and as long as you don't use heavy duty solvents it will last a long time.
  6. Ok, I told myself I would not do this but there are plenty here who haven't seen it. BTW, these are separate incidents. I have also smashed my thumb to oblivion but no pictures of it but I did figure out how to sleep with my hand up in the air like a 3rd grader trying to get the teacher's attention. My thumb met a very sharp knife and required a trip to the ER. This one my thumb got sucked into a router bit and I decided I didn't need to go to the hospital even though I probably should have. My poor thumb doesn't even look right and the skin grows all kinds of funky. Hang in there I know your pain.
  7. I suspect we will be reading about him acting like LE and pulling his gun in someone. After which he will loose his HCP and get charged.
  8. I am about to cast several thousand bullets and I will be coating them all but I do them in LARGE batches.
  9. Gander Mountsin sells several brands in several styles. Everything from uber tactical to dress belts. They have them with plastic inserts to stiffen the belt.
  10. How did you end up with serial number 0?
  11. I have several of them. As a matter of fact my SBR is a Predator lower.
  12. Anyone know what shotgun that is at 0:55?
  13. It will say Thompson Center on it if it is a T/C barrel.
  14. Thanks. After Ernie died we were going to need another large dog. At first we were set on another American Bulldog except a Johnson type rather than the Scot type we had before. Then we looked really hard at a Daniff (Mastiff and Great Dane mix). Then during our search we came across an Alapaha named Axel. He was a beautiful blue merle with blue eyes. We contacted the owner to find out who the breeder was. Then we contacted the breeder and the wait began because a puppy would not be available for at least 4 more months. During our wait my wife became a member of several Alapaha groups on FB and one day Gus became available. A deal was struck within the hour and a week later my wife drove 5 hours one way to pick him up. And up to this point I would not change a thing.   He can be the sweetest dog in the world and at other times I think he is Satan's best friend but we love Gus.
  15. Wonder how this will play out with the Tennesssee Freedom Firearms Act on the illegal machine guns?
  16. This was on my Facebook this morning and thought I would share. Definitely a motivator. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqGVU1sW8pg
  17. We have two dogs, a pitbull named Lilly and our Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog named Gus. Lilly is the best dog in the world, loves to snuggle and she definitely is a girl. Gus on the other hand is a rough and tumble boy that is always trying to show us who is boss. She is 6+ years old and weighs in at 50-55 pounds while he is 6 months and weighs in a 65+ pounds at the moment. He is expected to get to at least 90 pounds. We recently lost our Boxer Ernie and needed another "large" dog to replace him because we live in a remote area. So far we have been working with him and I think he will make a great protector of his mother, my wife. Here is Lilly sleeping on my lap: And here she is in trouble for not listening to her daddy: Took what seemed like forever to get rid of the smell but after several baths consisting of Dawn, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda she was again huggable. And here are some photos of our Alapaha bulldog Gus. This one is when he either just woke up or on the way to sleep. His color is a chocolate merle color. This picture of him at the vet is a good picture of what his coat looks like. He also has marble eys which are blue and golden. His eyes can stare right through your soul. Here is Gus having his manhood questioned: And here is a picture of Gus when we got him. I could not imagine a dog being more cute than he was. And here is a picture of the two of them laying together:
  18. Personally I watch whatever I want to watch without putting too much thought into it. The movies are entertainment and the actors are there to entertain not make a political statement. I do not try to think of actors as anything more than actors while on screen and most times off screen.
  19. I am just saying stability is directly related to velocity, not barrel length. Now barrel length has an impact on velocity but not a direct link to stability.
  20. If I have a 7.5" barrel and a 20" barrel and both have identical muzzle velocities is any one more stable than the other?   Now if I have two 20" barrels and one has a velocity substantially lower than the other are they both equally stable?   It is velocity that determines a bullets stability if all else remains the same. A bullet fired out of a 7.5" barrel will not be less stable than a 20" barrel if the velocities are the same. It is the velocity that determines the bullets stability not the barrel length. Now a longer barrel will increase the velocity but a longer barrel does not guarantee a stable bullet if the velocity is lower than the threshold.
  21. The heaviest buffer is almost 1/3 pound and in a game were ounces matter that is a lot. I run a carbine buffer in all my guns, including guns with rifles stocks, and tune the gas to the carbine buffer.   It absolutely is amazing at how much cleaner an AR will run with a properly set gas system.
  22. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  23. I left in August of 2001 to work for the sheriff's office. I was a supervisor at Client Logic when I left.
  24. A heavier buffer or spring will reduce the bolt speed. It also masks the problem of being over gassed. The barrel will still have a high level of pressure that will escape when the bolt unlocks early. Using a standard buffer and a properly gassed system will reduce felt recoil compared to just adding a heavy buffer alone. There are a lot of manufacturers out there that seriously have no clue. Look at all the over gassed guns on the market. The heavy weight buffers are what they came up with to try to mitigate some of the effects when a properly gassed gun is better.
  25. Velocity affects bullet stability but barrel length does not.   Barrel length affects velocity but barrel length has no direct affect on bullet stability.   I have had people tell me a bullet must make one complete revolution in the barrel to be stable. That is complete and utter BS.
