Who knew peeling tape released HUGE amounts of radiation
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
Imagine the fun you could have if it released radiation with atmosphere. Most major air ports have radiation detectors. Also, I am not sure if atmosphere prevents the release as much as a vacuum makes it easier to record. I know someone here has a radiation detector, can you see if this works with atmosphere? -
Did Everything Weapons in Franklin sell me a used gun as new?
Dolomite_supafly replied to wtl's topic in General Chat
Taurus does not ship guns that are that dirty, at leas the three that I have bought new were not. -
I saw this video and though it was amazing and a little bit scary. I do not work with tape all that much but imagine the radiation someone is taking who spends the day peeling tape. One of the scientists was worried about the amount he was taking on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQBjRF9mX1Y Yet another thing we did not know about nature not that long ago.

Anybody who has been overseas and had a local cell phone knows how often you get a wrong number call from the locals. I was over a few years after Team America, while it was still popular, came out so anytime I got a wrong number I would answer with "Derka, Derka" and if they said anything I followed up with "Mohammed Jihad" and based upon their tone they did not appreciate it. But if they continued to try to talk to me I would continue making up variations of the sayings and throw in a few Allah Ackbars just for good measure. My team mates would be rolling. -

I have bought three new Taurus' and have never seen one that looked that bad, EVER. Glad you are satisfied with their excuse but I am not sure I would have taken it so easily. I do not believe what he said for one second. Just a suggestion, might want to call Taurus and see if it has ever been in for warranty work. -

I think the proper way they do it is aim it in the general direction of the enemy, yell at the top of their lungs "Allah Ackbar" and then fire. -

Something I just noticed in the second video is the cover that covers the cutout for when the bolt handle comes back. That is something really neat and have never seen before in a bolt gun. I assume it is because of all the sand and dust. I watched the first video again and they may have been firing blanks or making a propaganda video. -

Basket of bullets being baked
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Depends on their size after baking but I generally do in order to uniform the diameter. -
These are cast bullets that are being coated with powder coating. These are coated using the dry tumble method. Basically you put the bullets in a cup or tumbler then add powder coating powder. Shake or tumble the mixture until the bullets are evenly coated. Then dump the coated bullets into a sieve and give it a shake to remove excess powder. After that I dump them into a wire basket for baking. I know a lot of people place their bullets on a flat sheet of non stick aluminum foil. And I have said there is no need and that I bake all my bullets after pouring them all in a basket. I normally have several layers of bullets in the same basket when I bake them. The larger the batch the longer I bake to ensure the bullets in the middle get to proper curing temperature but other than that I do not change anything else regardless of the batch size. I have had several people ask me how much is in a basket and here is a picture that represents over 10 pounds of bullets being baked all at once. These will be baked for about 20 minutes at temperature. Yes there will be some bare spots here but that does not affect performance at all from all my testing. I believe it is better to have a few bare spots than flat spots. I think that with flat spots you get a bullet that will be out of balance once sized. The extra thickness will move the lead and so the side with the thick coat of powder coat will be the light side of the bullet once sized. And here is a post baking photo: The basket contains several hundred 198 grain bullets cast using the NOE 311365 mold and several hundred 9mm bullets a friend sent me to try. And here is a test batch of 45 caliber bullets. They were sent to me by a friend. This was using the powder from the Ebay seller dmc2powder. http://www.ebay.com/usr/dmc2powder?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 I think it actually works better than PBTP, at least the blue does. The first batch, 45, is a little too thick. I think this stuff sticks too well. The second batch I added some powder and tumbled for a couple of minutes until they looked evenly, but thinly, coated then I added a little more powder. I repeated this until the bullets looked like they had a very thin coat. When I dumped the coated bullets out into the sieve there was no a lot of excess powder so I know I had it about right. With the 45 bullets I had a bunch of excess powder in the bottom of the tumbler so the 45s had a thicker coat. Enjoy

I would rather be in Mexico for the festival where they are exploding things with hammers.

Midway lowers shipping charges

But you WERE charged the $15 UPS ground fee, I guarantee it, even though you should not have to pay it. The clerk I spoke to confused the UPS ground fee with hazmat fee. -

The clerk I spoke to about the high shipping charges told me it was because it was considered hazmat. I knew it was BS because I ordered the same exact thing from another website for $4.95 shipping. It was actually a sizing kit now that I think about it. I even told her to remove the bottle of Alox and keep it and she said she could not. Here is the information about it on their website. I tried to tell her it wasn't hazmat but she kept insisting it was. -

Still doesn't change the fact they charge $19 hazmat fee for a bottle of Lee Alox. I was going to buy a $5 bottle and the total charge was something like $27. I even called and asked why so much and the said it was hazardous and had to go UPS ground. That was the last time they got one red cent from me. I even had some Midway Money that I had them refund. -

Personally if I were going to tackle the problem if getting off gas it would be this. Run a hydrogen powered generator and the electricity it generated would be used to produce more hydrogen as well as power an electric motor. But the big problem with hydrogen based vehicles is the fact it gives off water unless it is collected. Water being dropped on the road during the summer months presents little problems but when you have thousands of cars depositing water on the roads in the middle of winter I suspect it would turn to ice and create havoc.
-
Pretty sure that was what was said when the first internal combustion engine came to market. How could anyone put a liquid in every city to power cars but they did. Before the internal combustion engine almost all vehicles were some sort of electric but at the time it was easier to run a liquid fuel. The idea of providing electricity for an electric vehicle is much easier, and cheaper, option than some sort of liquid fuel.

I would be willing to trade 250 Federal 36 grain HPs for the 100 SSS you have.

Did Everything Weapons in Franklin sell me a used gun as new?
Dolomite_supafly replied to wtl's topic in General Chat
Every new Taurus I have bought, and that is several, came with a thick grease all over the metal surfaces and inside a plastic bag. The magazines were like new with grease all over them as well. The orange followers in the magazines did not have any marks on them. The barrel was clean other than the same greasy substance. You gun looks used. It is not from just being test fired. Maybe, because the store has a range, they rented it and because it was never sold previously they consider it a new gun. But looking at those pictures it definitely a used gun and hopefully the price reflected it was used. Can you post a picture of the underside of the slide? -
