If I had to pick one it would be the FN45 with a threaded barrel and second would be an M&P45, again with a threaded barrel. Now if I had a choice of calibers it would be something similar, and more modern, to the 7.62x25 with an all copper "pointy" bullet with a weight of ~75 grains and going 1,500 fps. Perhaps a "pointy" bullet similar in design to the 9mm I posted above to defeat armor as well as concentrate the hydrostatic shock. Or if we want BIG then go with a 50 GI.

http://www.schuylerarmsco.com/product.new-frontier-armory-billet-side-charging-upper-reciever-73-993 Enjoy. It only requires a special cam pin that they provide so you can use whatever BCG you are currently using.

They do make some very nice side charging uppers that do not use proprietary BCG's for $225. If anyone is interested I will edit a link in later when I get on my desktop.

There are all kinds of pistol rounds, including 9mm, that are capable of defeating soft armor but there is nothing that will defeat a hard armor rifle plate. Those bullets designed to defeat soft armor also have a much larger cavitation channel because of how they are designed. Here is one example of a bullet designed to defeat soft armor but it also concentratesthe shock wave. This is a very interesting website regarding bullets designed to defeat soft armor: http://www.cqbservices.com/?page_id=10 A full auto M4 is good for one thing, clearing a room and a grenade is more effective at doing that. Trying to make hits at anything other than point blank with a full auto AR is an exercise in futility. Belt feed machine guns are for sustained suppressive fire becuse they are heavier and are easier to keep fire in the target area. As far as the 223/5.56 goes when the military decided to use heavier bullets and faster twists to extend the range they ruined the short range capability as well as the long range capability. Want to have a more effective AR? Lengthen the barrel and slow the twist down. By most accounts a FMJ needs to be going 2,700 fps to fragment and the M855 out of a 14.5" barrel drops below that threshold in well under 100 yards. So if it doesn't fragment then we can hope it will tumble but not so fast because with a 7 twist barrel the bullets do not reliably tumble either inside of most malnourished combatants which we are seeing and will be seeing. So in the end you end up with a 22lr type wound at distances beyond 100-150 yards using FMJ. This is why we were hearing all the complaints. One way to correct this is to just go back to the 9 twist. It is more than capable of accurately shooting anything up to 77 grains accurately and the most important thing is they WILL tumble in the intended target, even if they are thin. Without tumbling the bullet will not fragment so the bullet must first tumble and twist determines where the bullet tumbles inside a target. Too fast and the bullet is beyond the target before it looses stability. Here is a great PDF regarding the M855 and faster twists: http://www.gandrtactical.com/images/archive/5_56mm_military_info.pdf I say go back to the original design, 12 twist shooting 55 grain FMJ out of a 20" barrel and use a heavier caliber for distances beyond 300 yards. The 55 grain out of a 12 twist was a capable 300 yard combination because it tumbled very quickly and had higher energy levels than the 45 ACP. The M193 does 3,300 fps out of a 20" barrel and is still has the velocity to fragment at 200 yards, far beyond the current configurations, and even if it doesnt fragment it will still tumble.

As the father of daughters, I can honestly....
Dolomite_supafly replied to Raoul's topic in General Chat
Looking back we should have had another but at the time our finances were not the best. I did tell my wife if we had daughter we would have another. I am sure we would have made it, because we always did, with two children but didn't want to take that chance or have to split what we had between two children. I was in the military at the time and I had friends who were struggling with 2 and 3 kids. Matter of fact with only one child we qualified for all kinds of benefits but we only took WIC. Back then you got a block of Gov't cheese and all kinds of other generic "white box" items. Definitely nothing like today. -
CMMG...Why, oh, why did I listen to Outpost Armory?
Dolomite_supafly replied to E4 No More's topic in Long Guns
Yeah, 9mm ARs have a firing pin spring because they are blowback. -
Heck, offer to pay their gas to make that 1 hour drive one way. :)

The old firing pin might be the correct length but the various steps in a 9mm firing pin may not be correct. -

I quit after only one son. I wanted to make sure we could give him everything he needed. -
LOL, I bet they are getting really aggravated now and I hope they are. And another http://www.armslist.com/posts/3268670/memphis-tennessee-ammo-for-sale--22-ammo-cheap-' Now we just need to figure out how to start costing them actual money.

Still haven't figured out why someone hasn't made one for use on a standard carbine buffer and be adjustable. After all not all arms are the same length.

I have always said that if I had a daughter she would be chained to a radiator and there would be shallow depressions on my property filled with her boyfriends. -
And one more thing my local post office does is not deliver packages on Monday. So my Midway order that was delivered on Saturday will not be delivered until Tuesday. I asked them why they don't deliver packages on Monday. They said that there was such a large volume of mail to be sorted and delivered on Monday that the packages would slow things down.

PM me your address. I have something every 300 Blackout owner should have. It won't cost you a dime. -
One thing I hated about Midway is I would pay for UPS and then the UPS carrier would drop it off at a local post office. I called UPS to raise hell because I would pay extra for it to got all the way UPS and they would say that Midway paid for the item to be delivered to the post office. Worst part is my post office will not release items of mine at the post office, they said it must be delivered to my address. Many times a package was delivered by UPS to my local post office Saturday morning, after the mailman was on the road, and I would have to wait until Monday to get the item.

If you make enough to pay for everything WITHOUT receiving government assistance then I think you are middle class. As soon as you start getting benefits then I think you are poor and the government wants everyone to be poor yet pay taxes. Funny how that works, the government gives you money then takes it back. I guess so they can change were the money is and how they can use it. Talking of taxes they have tried several times to pass a law that would equate the money saved as income if you owned something. How it works is if you own your home, or anything else of value like cars, the government assesses it to determine how much it would rent for then they add that amount to your taxable annual income. It would apply to cars and almost anything you own that has rental value. Think of it as property tax for anything that sits on your property. There are dozens of countries that do it in Europe and have done so for a very long time. Anyone who has been to Germany has seen the streets filled with useable furniture and other items thrown away, that is so they are not taxed on those items. BTW, they also tax church goers.

The equipment to cast and powder coat will cost you less than $100 and after that you will have less than .01 in each bullet. -
Yeah, the more people Obama makes feel poor the more people will probably vote for him and his promises of turning the poor into middle class. I have always said there needs to be poor and there needs to be rich as well as all those in the middle. If everyone made the same then we would all be living worse off than we do now. If tomorrow all the poor were given a million dollars then that would be the new poverty level with the liberals screaming they need more money from those who are not "poor". Everyone has the same opportunity to not be poor but the lazy ones are the ones who are content with being poor so long as they can be lazy. I have seen trailers with a blue tarp covering the 1/2 that burned and there are still people living in it. Now you never see the car leave the driveway so they are content to live in a 1/2 burned house so long as they do not have to work. Funny thing is all those programs designed to help the poor are actually programs to enslave, making them reliant upon their master to survive. The welfare programs couldn't be designed any better to enslave those the government wishes to control. ln exchange for a small amount of money those enslaved agree to give up any aspirations they might have for a better life. I know I would be pissed if I looked back at my life and realized I gave up my dreams for what amounted to less than minumum wage. We have both worked hard our entire lives to get what we have. If they want to call us poor at least I know, in my heart, I worked for what I have and in my mind that makes me a richer person than anyone who was given any amount of money.

fresh 300blk test fire question..... need some help
Dolomite_supafly replied to Ron Padilla's topic in Long Guns
I bet the bulelts themselves are not being seated deep enough and the throat is slowing things up. The next problem could be your dies if they are Lee. There are some bad Lee dies out there. BTW, do you reload for other calibers or is this your first? I PM'd my number, give me a call and we will get this sorted out tonight. I will be up to about 11pm. -
He was asking fog advice on a gun. He was not asking for advice on how to invest his money so that it outperforms any stock on the stock exchange. :) BTW, you can't go wrong with a shotgun, not just the one I have for sale, but any shotgun. For pump shotgun I would grab a Maverick 88 and then build it to suit your tastes. The Maverick 88 is a Mossberg 500 with a better safety and takes all the Mossberg 500 accessories. After that I would look at a Remington 870 and then build to your likes. For semi autos nothing can beat a decent Saiga 12 as long as they have had the reliability upgrades. You can get 2, 5, 8, 10, 12, 20, 25 and 30 round magazines for the Saiga. Nothing says I am about to destroy everything in the room like 30 rounds of 00 buck being let loose. They are also pretty light, mine weighs in at 7 pounds 3 ounces and for a semiauto shotgun that is actually pretty light. And like others have said some great deals can be had on ARs right now. And an AR can be built into millions of different configurations to suit your needs or wants. But be forewarned they are like Lays chips, no one can have just one.

Tennessee Takes Errant Self-Defense Shots Seriously, per 39-11-604
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in General Chat
Or if those prosecutors could be held personally responsible for egregious failures that would be great too. I have always said, even when I worked in LE, that if an officer does wrong and gets sued he should have to bear some, if not all, of the financial burden if he is found guilty. As it stands right now an officer can do some absolutely heinous things and the city/county are the ones who pay, not the officer. And that isn't isolated cases but every single case I have ever seen or heard about. Not once has an officer had to pay financially for their defense or, if they are found guilty, damages. This is how it goes the vast majority of times I have witnessed it: The officer screws up, someone sues the officer, city/county, city/county picks of the cost of defense, city/county settles out of court, officer either goes back to work or resigns to go work somewhere else. In the end the officer doesn't owe a single dime yet the taxpayers have to pay more in taxes because of it, either through increased insurance premiums or to pay the actual settlement. -
You would have never seen the primers as they are hidden. You have to find a person to pull them out from under the counter.

+1 I had heard something about this and I can't remember the details. I think this was the one that took a bunch of orders for super cheap then tried to jack the price after the fact. Is that what happened?
