Is the gas block against the shoulder of the barrel? If so you need to make sure it is .040" away. Barrels are made to use the hand guard cap and if you do not have a milspec hand guard the ports can be out of alignment front to rear. And a lot of people open up their gas port to .120" on carbine length gas systems. And although I generally do not recommend going to .120" right off the bat you might consider going up to ~.112" Your issue is 100% a gas issue. That is there is the bolt is unlocking too late because when it unlocks there is not enough pressure left in the barrel when it unlocks to push the bolt carrier back far enough. The bolt needs to unlock earlier and there is two ways of doing that, open the gas port or use more powder.
-
It is a gas issue, you need to increase the charge weight. I would recommend going up by .3 grains until you get to 17.3 but make sure to watch for signs of pressure. I bet 1/2 way between where you are now and 17 grains it will start acting normal. If you are running a heavy buffer there is not need to run one. They only cause problems and increase the felt recoil.
-
Have you tried a different magazine? PMags are notorious for causing problems with 300 Blackout because of the rib in the front of the magazine. It could be the rounds are binding just enough that the next round it not getting up in time or that the following is doing the same. I would watch the primers and start loading. Do not reduce the OAL while you are working up as that can increase pressures. Or you can start by using the load you have been using and seating the bullet deeper to increase pressures but keeping the same length and upper the powder charge is a safer, and probably better, method. There are plenty of people out there using 17 gains of H110 with the 147's but I have no clue what their OAL length is so be cautious in working up to that with your current OAL.

Where to find .22 Stingers in Chatt Town?
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Ammunition and Reloading
How do you know it was hard hitting? Did you chronograph the loads or do any ballistics testing? Have you even shot a water jug with it? I bet because it was LOUD you equated it to hard hitting. There is not a hyper velocity round on the planet that will outperform a standard velocity round when it comes to penetration. And penetration is ALL you have with a 22. BTW, the CCI Triple Shock ammo is even worse than the Stingers. -
I was told by the law director for the department I worked for that to prepare for a case is $15K minimum and that is just getting ready for the initial hearing. He said if they can get away cheaper than that and have a no fault agreement made they will do it.

By carrying Stingers in the pistol you are seriously jeopardizing your life, even more so that just carrying a 22. The next bullet I would suggest is the CCI Velocitor because it does have decent penetration but does not tumble and even if it did it is not .6" long like the SSS. -
Where to find .22 Stingers in Chatt Town?
Dolomite_supafly replied to a topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Not even close. The velocity out of those little guns is about 700 fps, less than a short which has the same weight bullet. I have tested Stingers in a 4.5" barrel and they never got above 1,000 fps, EVER, and the vast majority of times they were closer to 900 fps. Save yourself the extra noise and get something different. Also, Stingers, even if fired out of a rifle will never reach the vitals of a person as they pretty much disintegrate inside of a couple of inches. Stingers must have a rifle length barrel to make their velocity claims. For that you want to use Aguila SSS rounds. Even out of that little barrel they still provide ~8 inches of penetration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2T10BMy6oq0 BTW, those blocks on the bottom are 1". -
For the folks that remember the Real Muscle Cars!!!!!!
Dolomite_supafly replied to bersaguy's topic in General Chat
The first year for the GTO was 1964, not 1963. And the first year cars never had a tri duce setup, that came a year later in 1965. Now technically they did come out in 1963 but it was model year 1964. BTW, there was no such thing as a Road Runner or GTX in 1966, they came later. And "Plum Crazy Purple" was not a color for any MOPAR until 1970 and was gone by 1971. Might want to recheck those memories that are like yesterday, seems like they are more like last week's memories. BTW, you have found my other passion. From the time before I could drive I was reading about, dreaming of owning and building muscle cars. I could spout off production numbers for the more popular models, I knew the bore and stroke of every engine from the mid 60's to the mid 80's. My passion for cars was probably 1,000 times more than anything gun related but that all went away when I quit driving. -

Why are you wanting Stingers? They the worst 22 for everything. They are not accurate so they are no good for hunting. They do not make enough velocity and do not weight enough for a defensive option. For what most people think stingers are good for 22 shorts will fill the same role and do it better. -
Anyone, including cops, can ask you anything. When I see people on my road I do not recognize ask them who they are looking for. I have also been known to ask what their name is as well as if they have an ID. Doesn't mean I am going to get it but I have every right to ask. If nothing else it shows those who might be interested in doing something illegal on my road that people are aware and watching. I can say, without a doubt, that any questions asked by LE is them looking for a criminal offense you have committed.

For the folks that remember the Real Muscle Cars!!!!!!
Dolomite_supafly replied to bersaguy's topic in General Chat
In Sevierville we have the muscle car museum. It has an amazing collection that is always changing. It costs $10 and would take the average person well over an hour to look at everything. And the best part is they DO allow you to take photos. I know the last time I was there he has some amazingly rare pieces. The one that really stood out to be was a 1969 Impala station wagon with wood grain side. What made it special is it was factory built with a high horse 427 with a 4 speed and 4.10 positraction rear end. They also had two Hemi Cudas on the floor as well as some other extremely rare cars. -
This is how I am attaching it. http://manticorearms.com/Triangle-Stock-MA-5100.htm $105 for the stock and $55 for the hinge. The makers modeled after an actual Krink they had in their possession. And although it is not identical it definitely does it justice. And because it will be on a trust, with my wife, it can be tossed in the truck for her without me being there.
-
As far as pricing you need to contact him directly. I cannot speak for his prices but I say I was pleased with what it cost me as well as how quick it was completed. The cost to transfer from me to my trust is the same as if I were buying new items, $200. I am transferring all the items I made in my name to my trust. In the eyes of the ATF they are two separate entities so I have to pay the $200 for each item again.
-
After what has probably been several years of debating I have finally decided to get a trust. The first thing going into it will be my newly purchased M85 PAP as I turn it into a Krinkov replica. Then I start the expensive process of transferring the rest of my NFA items into the trust. What prompted me was several things but the biggest is not having to deal with our newly elected sheriff. Another big thing was how painless getting the trust actually was and I can thank John Wells for that. Within 30 minutes of first contacting him I had all my trust documents, which were personalized to me. He definitely made it quick and painless as well as answering all the questions I had regarding the trust. If you need a trust, or just want a trust, I would strongly recommend John Wells.

Contact your personal insurance to see if they will cover you in a rental. Insurance on the rental is what makes it seem outrageous. The last car we rented they wanted over $20 per day for insurance.

I hated driving my 69 big block, 4 speed Corvette. It had a close ratio muncey and 4.11's I the back. It was like driving a tractor when tooling around. It was hot in the summer and if it were not for the exhaust it would have been cool in the winter. But boy did I love standing next to it. -
So today I decided to use some glow in the dark powder to put some night sights on my AK. Here is a picture of everything I used, except a drill and drill bit. The powder I am using was bought from here. I bought an ounce and it has lasted a very, very long time. I bet a 1/4 ounce will do 5-10 pistols. The powder is green but there is another seller that sells different colors. And those colors are available here. I have not tried the United Nuclear powder so I have no clue how it compares to the GlowInc powder. The epoxy I use is 5 minute Gorrilla brand but really any clear two part epoxy will work. Even though it says it sets in 5 minutes the actual cure time is much longer. So I started out by finding a drill bit close to the size of the white dot that is already there. The holes for most white dots are generally very shallow. And although the epoxy would probably work fine I do drill it out a bit deeper to get more material in as well as to ensure it doesn't come out. Before drilling, and after removing the white dot, there is not much more than a dimple so I took the drill, drill bit and went a bit deeper. This is a piece of stamped steel so I had to be mindful not to go completely through the metal but with handgun sights this is generally not a concern. Even so it is important to go slow and take your time. Here is how the front sight looked after drilling it. Next I start working on the epoxy and getting it mixed up. You do not want to use too much but you also do not want to use too little. I normally start with a dollop about the size of a dime. And once I get the epoxy thoroughly mixed I split it. Then ensures I have some in reserve in case I have added too much powder to the mixture and it is too dry. Then once I split the epoxy I pour enough glow in the dark powder onto the mixture to cover it. You can see my reserve epoxy in the background. Then I thoroughly mix the powder and epoxy but before dabbing it into the hole in the sight you must wait first because this is where it gets a little critical because you want enough powder so the sight will glow but not so much that the surface will not smooth. It will look like you have added to much but if you let the mixture set for about 15 seconds the surface should smooth out. If the surface does not go smooth then you add a little more epoxy but if the mixture goes smooth very quickly, like in 5-10 seconds, then add a little more powder. The mixture will smooth out with too much powder but it is too hard to work with and it might start to cure before it smoothes out. I added the powder to this one and because this one smoothed out too quickly. I added a little more powder. You can tell it smoothed too quickly because the dollop is still nice and round yet the surface is smooth. You want it to take a little longer, longer than 15 seconds, for the surface to smooth out. Then I began mixing again and after thoroughly mixing it I again let it sit for 15 seconds and this time it took a little longer for the surface to smooth out. Now comes the part where you fill up the hole you created with the drill bit. I normally start out will a lot less than it needs. The reason is I do not want an air pocket in the bottom of the hole. So I grab a little bit. And I mash it into the hole. You are not wanting to add enough to finish the sight the first go. You want to swish it around in the hole to ensure it completely covers the inside of the hole. Then once that is done you grab the same amount and sort of dab it on the mixture in the hole. The dab will be raised up with a tail but leave it alone and it will slowly settle down to a nice round dot that sticks up from the sight. Here is an example of a dab that is slightly sticking up. And it settled into the picture below. In this picture it is a bit too big so I wiped it away and took another dap to it. That is the beauty of this. If you screw up you can wipe it away while it is drying or you can just drill it back out if you don't like it after it has dried. There is about 10 minutes worth of work time for you to get it perfect. So after wiping it away I used a smaller dab and it turned out about perfect. So after you have the perfect dab you MUST position the gun so the sight is flush with the ground while the mixture cures. If you don't then you end up with an elongated dot rather than a round one. And even though the epoxy says it is 5 minute epoxy it generally takes about 15 minutes to harden enough to take the gun out of a vice but it is still not hard enough to touch, that generally takes an hour or two depending on temperature. And something else you can do is right after you add the dab, and before it tacks up, is sprinkle more powder onto the dot. This will give you more powder but it will also make the sight have a rough looking, and feeling, texture to it. Personally I like the nice round, shiny dot versus the dull one. The rough texture also gathers dirt quicker and dulls the sight so if this is a carry gun I would not do the rough texture finish. And although it is hard to judge, this is a picture of the dot after a 1 second charge with a flash light. That is in a room that is completely dark with no other light source other than the camera screen light bouncing off of me. I use this on all my guns and they are brighter than tritium sights for a several hours after being charged with a flash light. And even if it does dull out all it takes is a one second blast of your flash light. And finally, my directions might not exactly fit what you do. Epoxies are different, temperatures are different and what you want is different so it might take a little trial and error to find out what works for you. But even if you screw up you are out pennies. And one more thing. If you do not want glow in the dark sights but want the whitest sights you have ever seen you can use the same exact instructions except use titanium dioxide. It results in an extremely white dot that is also impervious to 99% of the solvents out there. I would also venture to guess you could also use it to fill in the markings on firearms even though I have not tried it. And it will work with any powder, regard less of color too. And as always, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

OP, if you want my number send me a PM. You can call and vent, I won't give you advice you didn't ask for but you already got all the good advice you need. Now you just need to do something for you and if it makes you feel better you can cuss me out. Anyone, for that matter, can have my number and call me anytime but I will be selective in who I will let cuss me. -
My life has been threatened what do I do

Want to hear about not awesome. I was not planned and probably not wanted. Up to that point my father had been travelling and living it up until he knocked up my mother. Six months later he did the right thing by marrying her but that didn't mean he liked or even wanted me and it shows. My first memory, when I was 4 or 5, was of my drunken father laying me over the armrest of an old brown recliner as he beat me with a belt. Why was he beating me? Because I wasn't able to count to 10 in school. So he told me I had to count the hits. I would make it about 1/2 way and just to make it stop I would say 10. Then he would say it was wrong and start over. I bet I was beat for 20 minutes as I figured out how to count to 10 but it wasn't about me counting, it was about having someone to vent his rage upon because my mother had left my father a few months earlier because of his drunken, abusive antic and because he didn't have my mother to abuse anymore he took it out on me. Over the next couple of years I was beat by my father, my mother and my mother's boyfriend. And honestly those years are a blur. But I do remember being drug around by my arms, feet, hair or whatever they could grab a hold of as they beat me. A few years later my mother and father decided to get back together and that is things really got bad. I was beat with all kinds of things, daily. My father liked using unusual things to punish me and would find odd things or make things to beat me with. My mother's favorite thing to use was a straightened out metal coat hanger that she used to wail away on the backs of my legs. My father, for as long as I can remember, was ALWAYS mean to me. As I walked by he would grab the skin around my waist and twist it until it bruised. He would push me down or trip me then point and laugh. Anything I did that I was proud of he would destroy then laugh as I would cry. He would use locust limbs, with thorns, to beat me as he made me low crawl between the house and barn. And all this was before I turned 10. Oh, and my father's father was with us for a few years and he did pretty much the same thing so here I was, a 7-8 year old boy, being beat and tormented daily by those who are supposed to love and cherish me. My best memory of my childhood was waking up before they did so I could watch the Stooges without being afraid. By the time I was 13-14 I was away form home a lot. I was getting drunk almost every day, being mean and fighting. But the biggest fight I had was to avoid going home because I knew the second I walked through that door I was in for a fight I could not win. The way it normally went was I would come home and my mother would lay into me, then my drunken father would start beating me and my mother would stand by and watch. My father would throw me through doors, into radiators and even loosened teeth by punching me in a drunken rage. Then my mother would come in and tell me it was all my fault that it happened. Even to this day she blamed me for when my brother tried to kill us. She said it was my fault for not giving him money for his drugs. It was only after I was bigger than my father that things quit being physically abusive and things seem to settle down but I was still getting drunk all the time. They were still abusive but in a different way, they started using words and controlling behaviors. So again I would be gone with friends doing things I should not be doing. The vast majority of my childhood friends are in jail or have been in jail. And I should have been right there with them because I was drinking, fighting and just being a person no one wanted to be around. I was mean in my younger years, not just mean spirited but probably one of the meanest people I have ever met. And it is a struggle not to go back to being a mean person. And that is why I do not drink. It is because I say and do things that a normal person would not do. Most people who had an upbringing like mine do not turn out normal. I will say that I am far from normal and do have quite a few quirks and skeletons but all my adult life I have fought because I wanted to be one thing, not like my parents, and that fight goes on to this very day. There are people on the board who have seen first hand how my parents act towards me and how insane they are in their actions. Something else, I do not remember my father ever saying he loved me, ever. And when I was getting ready to go overseas I went to visit him and when I tried to give him a hug goodbye he walked away and didn't say a word, no goodbye, no see you later just a cold shoulder. He cannot stand me and probably has more hatred for me today than the day my mother squirted me out. He probably sees me as the person who ruined the plans he had made for his own life. My parents have done nothing for me other than try to make my life miserable but they did do one thing, ensure I would do everything in my power to not be like them. I do not say these things to trivialize what you are going through. I say them as proof that anyone can overcome anything as long as they work at it. And I am sure there are plenty of members here who have their own stories of adversity where they worked hard to overcome them. Your story is not new nor it is unique but you can overcome it. Trust me when I say you can be successful, it just takes some effort. It takes work, sometimes work where you don't get paid in money but work none the less, to get ahead in life. Personally I do not know you nor do I honestly give a crap about whether you stay with her or not but at this point anything you decide to do you need to do for you, not her or anyone else. If I had not decided to do something for myself I would probably be drunk and poor living in a singlewide trying to figure out what happened to my life. Instead I worked hard and got ahead. If life were meant to be easy what fun would it be when you win at life. As far as what Sam said I am not as bad off as it could have been but I am worse than it sometimes appears. I piss myself every day, it is a fact of life since my accident. I spend most days laying in bed. My wife helps me get bathed and dressed. I sometimes have to walk with crutches but I also understand it could be a lot worse. My legs randomly quit working, if I am lucky the fall is a soft one but most cases it only makes the other things worse. I am still having issues from a fall a few months ago. I had a friend out this weekend. Spent a few hours helping him out and fought every second trying not to show how bad my back was bothering me. After he left I felt a sense of relief because I could finally get off my feet and go back to bed. And the other hope was that maybe he didn't see the pain in my eyes. I spent the rest of that day and the next two days in bed. It was only yesterday that I finally was able to finally feel well enough to get out of bed. I will tell you that I do hate my crutches, hate them more than anything in this world, because they are proof I am weak and I try to avoid using them until it is unbearable. Some days that threshold is minutes and some days I might get a few hours without them but I will ALWAYS need them. You do not know pain until you have someone else put your underwear on for you. I could belly ache about all this all the time but it does not good. I have tried wallowing in my own misery and trust me when I say it doesn't help at all.- 412 replies

My life has been threatened what do I do
Dolomite_supafly replied to ironsniper1's topic in General Chat
So I wonder which caliber is best for the other boyfriend to use when he comes to "visit"? Also, what pistol would prove to be the most reliable after the 10+ hour trip down to Tennessee? And while we are discussing should the other boyfriend show up with the weapon concealed or should he open carry? And finally if the other boyfriend shows up and is forced to shoot the current boyfriend after the current boyfriend pulls out a gun would it be a valid "stand your ground" case for either of them?
