So who has eFiled a Form 1?
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Who are you certifying as a US citizen? The trust? And it doesn't even matter because non us citizens can own NFA items. I have talked to a few people already who have been approved without submitting one. -
Trust Bank Account
Dolomite_supafly replied to Jeremy725's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I won't have a trust bank account and I will pay for any items I buy, or transfer, using my personal funding and not a trust account. If a silencer is paid for and transferred to a dealer it does not matter who paid the silencer maker. When the item is transferred from the dealer to the trust the ATF does not care who pays, I called and asked. And when it is transferred from the manufacturer to the dealer it is technically not the trust property yet so it doesn't matter who paid for it. -

Just curious what you submitted as I am getting conflicting information from the NFA branch depending on who you talk to. I want to submit just enough for approval and nothing more. I do not like the submit everything approach because it gives them more things to scrutinize as well as more information than what is needed by the ATF to complete it. I think I have it sorted out but just curious what everyone else is submitting. I am submitting my trust, my Schedule A and a sheet transferring ownership of the item from me to the trust. Anything else? BTW, when this is done I will do a write up on the process and what is actually needed. -
Trust Bank Account
Dolomite_supafly replied to Jeremy725's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I called the ATF yesterday to ask about how to pay for eFiling and they said it did not matter who or how it was paid as long as it was paid. I asked about using my personal credit card and they said it was fine so I am using my personal credit card and I am NOT opening a trust bank account. And honestly if the account is setup to draw interest then you have to worry about filing taxes on behalf of the trust which would probably add all kinds of CPA costs. YOU DO NOT NEED A TRUST BANK ACCOUNT. -
Are you guys reading what he has posted? He did have an upgraded motherboard installed a few years ago. A two year old motherboard is hardly old.

How funny would it be to place against some high end rigs. BTW, there is nothing wrong with Highpoints as far as reliability goes. They are a blowback, not locked breech, gun so they are going to be safe with any ammo you shoot out of them. And because they are blowback they are so much more reliable. I dare anyone to find someone who has actually owned a highpoint that says theirs wasn't reliable. Yes they are ugly as sin and cheap as hell but they are reliable.

If it is a Gigabyte from a couple of years ago it takes newer ram. When you boot up it tells you what model the motherboard is and then you can look up the memory specs to use on Google. And if you can use them I have 2 sticks of KVR667D2/2GR. They are 2 gigabytes each. Send me your address and they are yours. I only I ask for two things in return. First, if they do not work please send them back so if someone else needs them I have them. And second, if you see someone else on the board you can help please do.

Him and his wife are probably the most damaging people to gun owners. The both of them, and the Brady Campaign, are responsible for more damage than anyone else. Not in their legislation but in them pushing that guns, and gun owners, are a bad thing to the public. Had he died from his wounds that day we would have been in a better place today. I have zero sympathy for him, his wife or anyone who supports their agenda. I heard on the news this morning the left are going to try to use his death to renew interest in a nationwide ban on assault weapons. They are saying that a ban on assault weapons would be fitting way to honor him.

Actually I bought 400 Tula 223 today. Was looking for some steel case to buy rather than use up my supplies.

Best Slickum (grease) For Ruger 10/22 Bolt?
Dolomite_supafly replied to Sidewinder's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I have mixed in smell good stuff with my cast bullet lube. Makes for some interesting days at the range. -
I will say that you start by cleaning all the metal parts. They are shipped with the second worse protectant, second only to cosmoline, so if you don't clean it out then you will get powder stuck and the parts that are supposed to operate smoothly will not. You can use WD-40 to clean them as it works as a pretty good solvent for most oils.

I sent you a PM with my number, give me a call and I will walk you through everything you need to know.

If it is a gold colored bullet it is probably a plated bullet. Nothing wrong with plated bullets but if you decide to melt them down to reclaim lead you have to piece the jacket or they will explode as the lead inside melts. I bought my first round of ammo today. Haven't bought ammo in years but decided to buy some steel case 223 and save my reloading components.

Another Reason To Stock Water in America, Toledo Water
Dolomite_supafly replied to runco's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I do not store any water. A few years back I installed a hand pump in our well. We also filter every single ounce of water we consume. And every morning we probably have a couple of gallons drip off the roof as condensation. -
You are more than welcome to shoot to anytime you want. Just bring you own ammo.

tinting tru oil to enhance contrast
Dolomite_supafly replied to graycrait's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
They do make something called natural stain. It basically makes everything contrast a little more. -
You can. :)

I have studied hard on this and there are very few guns that could even be used for this because the rim is so small. You might be able to open up the bolt of a 22 magnum and get a working gun but not sure about the safety of using a rimfire action for it. Perhaps a better choice would be a Remington 592, with real locking lugs, with a 22 caliber barrel installed and the bolt opened up to accommodate the larger rim. A 223 bolt head is way to big to be used. You could probably add a bushing but it would require a custom extractor and a new ejector being fitted.

Brownells also sells oversize screws for stripped holes in a Ruger receiver. It is the same thread pitch but slightly larger. And if you decide to use the same size screws you can use a LITTLE bit of JB Weld to sometimes fix the holes. Use shoe polish to coat the screws and base. You put the polish between your fingers and roll the screws around. Then smear some on the bottom of the rail. Put the screws through the base and put a very small dab of JB Weld on the shaft of the screw. Ideally you enough to get into the hole without getting any on the base. Then screw it together but do not tighten like normal. You want then finger tight and not hand tight. Let it set overnight to cure and then in the morning unscrew everything and clean up an JB that might be sticking up. Just make sure you use polish, or a release agent, on the screws and base. I have also heard of people using non stick cooking spray but I have never used it. Personally going 8-40 is easy and you end up with a much stronger connection. You might have to drill the base holes larger depending on the base.

It is also about the bearing length of the bullet. It is possible to have a lighter bullet develop more pressure.

Something else to do when you have the gas block off is chamfer the edge of the gas port. Do not use a drill, use your fingers, and take a larger drill bit an break the edge of the gas port. I have had guns run better doing that. I think it helps smooth out the gas flow.

After watching this, I feel like a failure as a father
Dolomite_supafly replied to NoBanStan's topic in General Chat
No, but a dad that isn't a stand up dad would have not built something like this for his kids.
