Just have some questions for someone who lives in the area.
-
I just ordered an M92 that will be an SBR to go with my M85 SBR. From the looks of it the Bonesteel looks like it is longer when folded. And it also looks like it is below the receiver. The M92 will likely get an AR collapsible with a folding stick. Through CNC Warrior I can get that setup cheaper than an ACE with the adapters needed.

We might not need to do a damn thing. Russia will not play these silly games. They will roll in and ISIS will be Orthodox Christians within a week and those that aren't will have met their virgins. Heck, Russia already has a huge contingent 1/2 way there.

Question about AK's and Tec's
Dolomite_supafly replied to Camaro_nut2001's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Post away. BTW, Tec-9's are miserably unreliable. As soon as you buy one you may as well go ahead and buy 10 firing pins because they break constantly. The triggers are horrendous and the magazines are expensive. Save yourself the aggravation and buy a Glock with a few 33 round magazines. Just as fun but a lot more accurate and reliable. Which AK pistol you looking for? -
Core 15 is pretty good about taking care of their customers. I know they used to pride themselves on their BCGs.

We need to kill them NOW. We also need to attack any country that supports them. They are gaining hundreds, if not thousands, of new members weekly and will continue now that they have declared a caliphate. At some point the entire middle east will be one Islamic state and then we will have some serious problems stopping them. They are only going to gain popularity because of their views on women, the west and Israel. If we do not do anything then Israel will be squashed like a bug on a windshield once ISIS gets strong enough because our president will not come to Israel's aid. Imagine what will happen if that Islamic state controls all the oil in the region? We will be brought to our knees in a matter of days fi they cut it off. All of our high tech war fighting machines are useless without fuel. Goods, such as food, will no longer be able to be shipped to communities which will lead to widespread panic and looting. Citizens will be unable to afford gas to get to work and we will be a third world country within a month of loosing our oil supply. We do not have the oil reserves to prevent a major catastrophe if ISIS turns the faucet off. Right now any American caught supporting them should be stuck in some internment camp until the "War on Terror" is over. If that requires them to die in the camp then so be it, at least they will not be fighting, or supporting those who are fighting, the US. By support I mean financially, logistically as well as just vocally. If a person says anything vocally or posts on social media that they support ISIS then the person who posted it should be detained and tried for treason for supporting our enemy and then stuck in the internment camps with their counterparts. Trust me when I say ISIS is more of a threat to the United States, our allies and all "western" style democracies than the Taliban or Al Qaeda. It is because ISIS is more easily accepted by the average Muslim than Al Qaeda or the Taliban ever was. Look at what happened in Afghanistan with the Taliban, they took over the country because it gave all the power to the males just like ISIS is doing. There are also governments in the region that are supporting, because they agree with the philosophy, ISIS in a major way.

Do they have an internal rib on the sides towards the front? Perhaps these might work for 300 Blackout. I assumed these were the crappy ones from the past. I used to buy the crappy ones 10 at a time to get 2 good ones. And even the good ones weren't all that great. If people say they are great then they must be.
-
RUN AWAY!!!
-
Found the link. Good luck with those because they still have the internal rib.
-
Link? Have not seen any 300 Blackout specific magazines. If someone could build a 223 AK magazine to fit an AR it would work great. Every AR magazine I have seen has those internal ribs that creates all kinds of problems for 300 blackout shooters.

any ak builders in Knoxville Morristown area?
Dolomite_supafly replied to csc8569's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
As far as paper trails if you have EVER bought a firearm that required a background you may as well buy a new receiver. If they come all you say is you sold it last month at the gun show. Thinking that one unregistered receiver makes you safer is not true if you have ever bought a firearm on a 4473. I get the whole "I don't want the government to know" thing and in that case just go to a gun show, Armslist, GoC or here and buy a firearm on a handshake. -

Never buy a Stihl Chainsaw
Dolomite_supafly replied to Jamie Jackson's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I had a friend who had a Stihl that belonged to his grandfather. His grandfather ran a sawmill and used the Stihl all day, every day. My friend took over the sawmill and used the same Stihl and as far as I know he still is using it. I know in his shop he has at least 20 saws and there might be two or three that aren't Stihl. I remember him saying his biggest Stihl, that had like a 5 foot bar, had 26 hp. -

My Saiga 12 I can't seem to sell/trade would look really cool with a 12" barrel. As would my Savage bolt gun. Heck I might have to find a R700 to build a SSSR (Super Short Sniper Rifle) :) -

I am going to go broke turning everything I own into an NFA item. -
Colt has been outsourcing or licensing their name a lot lately. There was a "Colt Competition" for sale lately for $800. Turns out none of it is actually made by Colt. This ammo is just like any other Aguila ammo. I will say that Aguila ammo tends to be pretty good.

Physically they will fit but the butt stock screw is metric so you have to find a metric screw or tap it for a SAE screw.

Whats your favorite boolit gauge/comparator
Dolomite_supafly replied to Ron Padilla's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Are you wanting to compare just the bullets are the complete cartridges? For the bullets only I used two Hornady bullet comparators, one on each arm of my micrometer. Then I remove one to measure OAL. If you are comparing loaded cartridges to get consistent OAL then you need to be measuring the bullets themselves for consistent bearing length. Out of the same lot bullet's bearing length can vary as much as .015". With different lots they can vary as much as .03"-.04" if my memory still works right. The longer the bearing length of the bullet the higher the pressure which results in a higher velocity while the shorter bearing length reduces the velocity. Once I started measuring the bearing length of bullets my vertical stringing went away. It all helps and adds up, I had a factory gun that would consistently shoot .3's at 100 yards with enough .2's to know those were not flukes. Then, one day, I realized I was spending way more time getting anal about what I was shooting than shooting itself and I quit all the prep work. I will say there are a few things that I still do with ALL my brass because it resulted in such a dramatic effect on accuracy. One is to uniform and chamfer the flash hole. That one thing resulted in a significant reduction in group sizes that I still do it today no matter the caliber or its purpose. Here are some links that were invaluable to me when I used to chase groups. http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-reloading/43879-hand-loading-long-range-1-brass-case-prep.html http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-reloading/44049-hand-loading-long-range-2-bullet-sort-prep.html http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-reloading/44357-hand-loading-long-range-3-finding-start-oal.html http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-reloading/44763-hand-loading-long-range-4-powderin.html http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-reloading/45258-hand-loading-long-range-5-inspect-tips.html -
Definitely do not use them in a rifle. I was at a local shop that had about 8" of bullets stuck in the barrel. They tried everything but finally had to torch the barrel to melt the lead out.

My Century Arms AK-74 needs a new barrel
Dolomite_supafly replied to jmecklen's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Is it a new gun or is it an older gun that has been shot a lot? And have you done all the obvious like clean it really, really well? Have the crown redone? Or tried different ammo? Manson Reamers makes a very nice recrowning tool. It is also VERY cheap for what it is and what it does. it is possible to recrown a barrel without removing it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b23lfzpZrJ4 -
If the post-86 ban were repealed....
Dolomite_supafly replied to quietmike's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
An American 180 or a FA 10/22. Then the obvious, an AR and AK. And finally being able to buy a reasonably priced machine gun would be my biggest wish. Buying a FA AR for ~1,000 would be great. Or a $600 FA AK. Beyond that I am not sure what I would really want. -

It depends on what kind of stock you plan on using. With the ACE folder I added I had to drill two holes and I had to make an angled spacer to bring the rear of the stock up some. Then it is just a matter of bolting everything together. I think pretty much any way you are going to go will require two holes to be drilled. I have seen pictures of people welding a castle nut to the back then install a standard AR buffer tube gut that will not work for a folder. They do make cheap folder mechanisms that use a buffer tube but they are not very durable. The best way, although a bit heavy, is to use a ACE or Stormwerkz folding mechanism and a Manticore stock. The package will run you about $175 shipped. It is about as easy as it gets as far as making an SBR out of these M85/M92 pistols. I found a polymer stock that looks like a Krinkov stock so I chopped off the part that normally goes into the receiver of a rifle. Then I drilled and installed some threaded inserts and then I attached it to the ACE folder. It saved me at least 2 pounds but it is hardly plug and play like the setup above. As far as engraving I will have mine done in about any open space. The guy that does mine does it while I wait and charges $25. His setup takes about 5 seconds to do the engraving and the AR lower I did is about .010" deep which is over 3x the requirement. My Ti tube he engraved is about .006" deep which is twice as deep as it needs to be. In the steel of the AK receiver it should be somewhere in between these two. If he can I will probably have it done on the underside in front of the magwell or on the left side of the receiver because there is a lot of open real estate. -
something I never expected to see on woot. NFA trust.
