I like the ACE pushbutton over the traditional ACE folder. I will be having an underfolder installed on my M92 as soon as I get approved. And hopefully next week I will order the Draco and an RPK. The Draco will get the SBR treatment as well.

You can't mess up an AK. Just follow the videos and take your time. I have done 4 now and it takes me about 30-45 minutes if I have no issues that come up. The only issue I have ever had was the paint I used to paint the exposed metal under the cover plate did not adhere and dry like it should.
-
I think I am going to pick one up as well. I have an M85 and an M92 but like the idea of the 7.5" AK for a truck gun. BTW, the bottom picture is NOT a Draco. It is a M92. You can tell by the muzzle device and the angled rear of the receiver.
-
It really is super easy. Drill or knock out the two pins at the lower rear of the receiver. Drill or grind the rivets for the trigger guard and cover plate. Then after that you assemble it just like any other AK.

Best onine vendors for 5.56 ammo?
Dolomite_supafly replied to jonnnyboy's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
We have a running threads of 5.56, 7.62x39 and 22lr deals in the benefactor area. Right now there is a 5.56 deal for $241 shipped and brass cased for $319 shipped. Another BIG deal is the Turkish M855 spec ammo the Walmart sells. They have been on sale for $9.97 for 30 rounds. -
Civil Unrest Thread got me thinking.

For a really, really cheap option to stop bullets use ceramic floor tile. I took two .25" thick ceramic floor tiles that were 12"x12". I glued a 1/4" piece of rubber between them to give it some stand off and then I shot them. I placed the plates inside a cardboard box and then put a t-shirt over the box. I shot it with 223 and a few small fragments were on the inside of the t-shirt. I shot another set of plates with 9mm and the bullet never exited the box and with 45 ACP the bullet made it out of the t-shirt but did not harm the plastic barrel behind it. I am not sure how 7.62x39 would have fared but I suspect it would have made it through. It would not provide the multiple hit capability that AR500 steel does but for the cost to armor a wall in AR500 you could easily install multiple layers of ceramic. -

Civil Unrest Thread got me thinking.
Dolomite_supafly replied to Randall53's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I do have a friend who has a concrete wall with "ports" that overlooks the only entrance to his property. The only road into his property is about 1,000 feet long and he can easily take care of any vehicles that might come up. If someone were really worried about it they do make ballistic blankets for pistol calibers. It would not be difficult, but would be expensive, to line a single room with AR500 steel. Don't really need floor to ceiling coverage, just high enough to hide behind and maybe shoot from. A single sheet of AR500 steel that was 4'x4' cost me a little over $200 so it would cost several thousand to do a room but it is definitely doable. My house has no protection, I thought about concrete block filled with sand but decided that was too expensive. Besides I live in an area where I could easily leave the house without being seen and over watch the house while hiding in the woods. -
It upset me because it meant I had to spend an extra $100 to be able to use the 8 steel magazines I bought. Here is a opinion letter: This does beg the question, how does someone meet 922r compliance when SBRing a pistol from another country where American made parts are not available? I know Glocks are pretty popular pistols to SBR but if you have one of the imported ones can enough US made parts be bought to bring it into compliance?
-
When making a rifle, even from a pistol, from foreign parts it must be 922r compliant if the end result is a gun that cannot be imported. I did some research then called the ATF to be 100% positive because it does add about several hundred dollars to the cost. And because I was making a "rifle" it must be 922r compliant. There is an ATF opinion on the net stating that as well. I was looking into the Manticore stock but I hear it is heavy, it is also pretty expensive at $110. But as far as ease of assembly you cannot get any easier. Drill and tap a couple of holes in the receiver, screw the hinge to the receiver and then screw the Manticore stock to the hinge. I also wanted something that looked authentic but the real stocks are $300+ and then you need to find a builder to install it. And that would have been far to much for me to justify. I started looking around and came across this. http://www.rpbindustries.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Store_Code=rpbindustries&Screen=PROD&Product_Code=AKKRST-E1 But it is designed to be installed in place of a fixed stock, not a folder. So what I did was cut the part of the stock off that goes inside of the receiver. Then I drilled into the end of the stock and installed some 10-32 threaded inserts like these so I can screw a mounting plate to. This is the plate I made to screw to the stock and screw to the ACE folding hinge. This was not even close to being plug and play. It took several attempts to get everything right but now that it is I really like it. The only thing I do not like is the ACE pushbutton hinge developed a wobble. I have had two ACE hinges, a standard and the push button, and both developed wobbles pretty quickly. I will probably pick up another hinge to try, perhaps the Stormwerks. I looked at the Bonesteel hinge/stock combos as well but has heard of several complaints that it is below the receiver and digs into the hand. I have another AK pistol coming and I will probably use a different hinge with the pignose adapter I already have with a buffer tube. It will be pretty straight forward and other than the hinge I already have everything I need.

Help Cheer Up One of Our Own...David.
Dolomite_supafly replied to Sidewinder's topic in General Chat
I am so sorry David. I know David loved Rocco more than any man could love an animal and for good reason because Rocco was such a cute dog with a lot of personality. He would show us pictures of Rocco anytime we met because of how much David loved his little Rocco. I could not imagine what you are going through David and if you want to talk you have my number. -

NY Gunstore Records Seized Under Threat
Dolomite_supafly replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That is indicative of what is next. They are wanting to know who bought guns that are compliant and why would they want that? probably for the next round of gun controls where they will outlaw the compliant guns. NYC, and probably a lot of the state, have become overrun by government thugs. I thought there was going to be an uprising with the Safe Act but they are just moving away. Which brings me to something else that is really disturbing to me. They are moving away and coming to places like Tennessee. I have spoke to a couple people who have moved here because they thought TN was better. But after they got here they felt it wasn't enough like NY for them and one was even talking about suing his local governments to try to make more like NY he left. -
Not according to some. The use of the word "thug" has been reported in the past. The member reporting it said it was an offensive, racist term used to negatively describe black people.

I have watched the video over and over again and I do NOT see a single white kid attacking anyone. Please, give a time on video and relative location of the white person attacking. Better yet a screenshot and circle them. Yes, some of us are upset because of the disparity between how a black on white crime is portrayed versus a white on black crime. Or even more upsetting is when there are hundreds of black on black crimes occurring every day but not a single word of it in the national news. Yet if an other than black guy kills a black person it is all of a sudden a huge racial issue. Is it not a racial issue if a black attacks a white if a white killing a black in a similar manner is. Just because we are upset because it is not fair does not make us racists. There are racists on all sides. And honestly I have personally seen more examples of blacks making openly racists statements, as well as threats, against whites than whites doing the same against minorities. Could be that whites are hiding it much better but it still doesn't change the fact that some blacks are making statements that are racist in nature. I am not racist but I am prejudiced. I am prejudiced against anyone, regardless of race or color, who tries to use race as an excuse to attack another human being or uses race to claim they are a victim when they are not. And how are we to hold parents accountable for their kids? Holding the parent(s) accountable for a child skipping school is one thing but charging the parents for the crimes of their children is insane? Some kids, not matter the amount of supervision or how involved their parents are, will get in trouble. And if charging parents with the crimes of their children flies then what will prevent a parent from being charged criminally if their minor child has an accident and kills someone?

2nd Suppressor Purchase

Be careful with the TacSol. The aluminum will get peened and squished out of shape exposing the liner. Here is what happened to mine within a year. Tacsol felt it was bad enough that they replaced it for free and since then I just do not shoot it. -
You can watch the video of them running to a car to attack someone then at the same time the lady says "they got a white dude", that was well before the Kroger employee was attacked. You can see a "white dude" running from his car and through the crowd who is trying to attack him. The "white dude" running is NOT the kid on the ground. Watch the video. The "white dude" running has a white shirt on and the Kroger employee has a blue shirt on. Two separate people. I know you want to try to make it out that they didn't attack a "white dude" first but they DID. Again, watch the video you can see "the white dude" wearing a white shirt running through the crowd.

There is NO import ban on all 5.45x39. Surplus is still being imported as well as new ammo being imported. Yes, 7N6 is no longer being imported but there is plenty of 5.45 still being imported. I would not turn away from a 5.45x39 over ammunition fears. If you want cheap to shoot just buy a 7.62x39. It is as cheap as anything else out there. Magazines are everywhere and cheap. And there is no way 7.62x39 is going away because there are too many AKs in the world in that caliber. BTW, you can buy steel 30 round 223 AK magazines for $8 each. Just bought a bunch of them at that price. Or you can get polymer magazines for $7 each. I have had a 223 AK and realized I should have probably gotten the 7.62x39 version so I went ahead and order it. The 7.62x39 will be cheaper to shoot as well as easier, in the long run, to get magazines. And if I wanted a gun that took AR magazines I would buy an AR. They are going to be as reliable as an AK for most shooters.

The group doing the attacking are a known BLACK gang and the FIRST person they attacked was WHITE. Watch the video you can hear the lady say "they got a white dude" then, after they attack him, the kids from Kroger were attacked for helping. At :20 you can hear her say it and at that point that had not attacked the Kroger employees. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD246Wk2DT0

Basically when you ream the chamber out to 357 Maximum you loose a lot of benefits. Also the throat on these rifles are like a revolver, not a typical rifle chamber, and that contributes to it being a great 357 Magnum gun. Adding .3" of throat does nothing for accuracy. And finally 357 maximum brass is EXPENSIVE. There is not a lot to gain, other than velocity, by reaming the chamber out to 357 Maximum specifications. But there is a lot to loose.
