I finally joined the cool kids club...

You want some peter pepper seeds Mike? I have a string of them that are probably dry enough. And yes, they do look like little green peckers and are HOT. Mine are already dried out but when fresh they looked like these: -
We have two dogs that are part of our home protection plan, Lilly and Gus. And that is the remnants of an aggressive soccer ball that needed to be attacked. First is Gus. He is an Alapaha Blue Blood bulldog. It is a rare breed and I would wager the vast majority of people have not heard of them. They are protective and loyal dogs. Gus has some basic German commands down and will act aggressive on command. I have zero doubt that if we need to be protected he will go head long into harms way to protect us. He will be getting some more advanced training when it cools down some. Although Gus looks like an English bulldog there are some significant differences. First he does not have the breathing issues the English does, his teeth are much more aligned than an English, he is taller as well as being faster on his feet than an English and finally he us much bigger. In this picture he is ~10 months old and 90+ pounds. I know the date in the picture is a bit off but it was taken And here is Lilly. She is an a-typical pitbull. She is loving, not aggressive towards other dogs and wants loved more than anything else. She listens very well and even though we have not worked with her there is no doubt she would protect us. But most times all she wants to do is get hugs and kisses from anyone, including guests.

Anyone run a black rear sight on you CCW?
Dolomite_supafly replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
If I am going to run illuminated sights the only sight that is illuminated is the front. Having the front and rear the same color would be confusing to me. But to be honest you should have a flash light to identify your target before firing at it. -
Welp...It is now here folks...ebola
Dolomite_supafly replied to Someotherguy's topic in General Chat
We would never be able to prevent people from travelling, even if this goes viral. And those who are sick would refuse to allow themselves to be quarantined voluntarily even if it is in the best interest of the country. Americans are so spoiled that the first time they cannot fly, or travel, to where they want to go they will sue or riot. Americas are so self centered and spoiled the vast majority would NOT do what is right for the country if it inconveniences them. The country, as a whole, has become a group of people who believe they are entitled to anything they want even if it belongs to someone else. Ebola is going to spread. The reason is people are nasty and it seems like it is a relatively recent phenomenon. As anyone who has ever been in a public restroom can attest there are people who come in, use the restroom, and then leave without washing up. Then those same people go touch all kinds of things you might come in contact with. One of the nastiest places we all go to is the gun shows. Not only do we see but we also smell those nasty people and they are touching everything as well as rubbing up against you in the isles as they try to squeeze by. Imagine how many times that cool looking gun at the last gun show was touched by nasty people before you and how many of those who touched it actually washed their hands before leaving the restroom. Or how much "digging" the person, who used that shopping cart last, did before you got it. Another big clue is when you consider how much fecal matter is on the average dollar bill. -
Yes, that is the KX3. Not only does it reduce flash, felt recoil and noise to the shooter it also increases the pressures needed for reliable operation of the gun. The cheap version I linked should work just as well for 50% of the cost.

TFB confirms with the BATFE about arm braces!
Dolomite_supafly replied to whitewolf001's topic in Handguns
And the problem is the RSOs are viewed as an authority figure so what they say to novices is considered fact. Now imagine how many other people these people have come in contact with and spewed falsehoods that can get someone in trouble. These idiots will not accept any responsibility for the BS they tell people when it comes down to it. I have always said that you will always find volunteers to fill positions of the authority. Problem is these volunteers are often people who would not be hired if they were being paid. -

The folks at VRPC are a bunch of idiots with the exception of a couple. I was told by them that if they ever caught me with my legally registered suppressor they would seize it and I would have to get it back from the ATF. They recently told a member that they could not shoot there if their Mosin had a muzzle brake. They have told me that when my brass hits the ground it belongs to them. I eventually started marking my brass to keep the thieves at bay. I have caught them catching other peoples brass and sticking it in their pockets without the shooter's permission. I have caught them rifling through my shooting bags because they had to "inspect" what I had. I have had high end stuff come up missing several times when the only people who could have were the RSO's. But if you question the RSO's about anything they will threaten to have you barred from the premises and arrested for disorderly conduct. BTW, one of the RSO's, who is a NRA certified instructor, pointed a pistol at my wife with an unknown condition pistol and pulled the trigger. It had a magazine in it at the time and when my wife jumped his ass his response was "this is a gun store, get used to having guns pointed at you". He is also the POS that would raid the brass box for the Boy Scouts. VRPC had an agreement with the local boy scouts so they could recycle the old brass to fund their troop. This same guy would take brass destined for the boy scouts then sell or trade it for his own gain. I was there when one of the RSO's used a plastic soda bottle to make a suppressor for a 22. When asked, by some kids, about the legality of it the RSO said it was perfectly legal because it wasn't made out of metal and because it wasn't registered. He said as long as you didn't register a suppressor it was legal to have. That was the same idiot who said LC brass was so good because it was made in Lenoir City. He got a dumbfounded look on his face when I told him it was Lake City, not Lenoir City. My advice is to stay away from that place and if enough people do eventually that place will shut down leaving all the liars, thieves, idiots and cantankerous asses without a place to inflict pain upon the general populace. -
You have become immortalized on TGO thanks to the pin button. Thanks for your work putting this together.

Yeah that is a nice looking rifle with nice little, custom touches.

Getting calls from a number that is "not in service"
Dolomite_supafly replied to jgradyc's topic in General Chat
I will answer every call unless I am asleep and then my ringer is turned off. What I do is ruin their call metrics. Most call centers have guidelines as to how long a call can be before they HAVE to make a sale. Most times I talk for 30 seconds then act like I can no longer hear them. Or I will talk for 30 seconds then lay the phone down next to the television that is on. It takes them a little while to figure out it is not me. I also argue with them over the fact they can barely speak American yet they ALL have American names. I might start talking to them like they are a long, lost high school buddy I haven't talked to in a couple of decades. -
finger printing

Any dealer who does NFA stuff should have the correct cards if not you can get them from the ATF. -
You can even hear the difference between the guns.

The KAK is just a funnel and the Noveske is a single baffle suppressor. The gasses get caught up inside the Noveske while the gasses just get trumpeted out of the KAK. If all you are looking for is the look of a KX3 then go ahead and get the KAK but if you want performance get the KX3 or one of the clones I linked above. The KAK and the Noveske are not even in the same ball park when it comes to performance. The cone is inside the outer tube but there is a gap between the outer tube and the cone so gasses go into the area between the cone and outer tube and are held there temporarily. This is what reduces the flash, noise and recoil. The KAK is just a cone, like a trumpet, and does nothing but make the gun louder and does not reduce flash at all. Here is a video showing the KX3 performance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAr2h6zMcWc

You od have the fingerprint cards right? The ones with the correct ORI? -
Man, I wish my bench was covered with carpet too. I bet it is much nicer to hammer on a gun sitting on carpet than a hard bench.

300 WM load test results
Dolomite_supafly replied to jphillips63's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Those are some truly amazing 300 yard groups. I don't think there is anyone who would not be happy with the worst group. The .331" group is absolutely amazing. I was happy when I was getting groups that size at 100 yards. BTW, what gun is that? Is it a factory gun or one that was built? -
He is probably visiting his mother. He kind of goes "dark" as far as the internet goes when he is visiting her.

Getting calls from a number that is "not in service"
Dolomite_supafly replied to jgradyc's topic in General Chat
Also be aware there is a scam where they call you and hang up but when you call back they charge by the minute. They are based out of the Caribbean and according to the news reports nothing could be done to prevent it other than do not call back. And for those who contacted their carrier to dispute the charges the carriers would not. It was something insane too like $10 or $20 a minute. The call lists get passed around and sold to various companies. One way to stop them is to record the disconnected tone to your answering machine or cell phone greeting. Record the tone then add your individual message right after. To a computer that is dialing it hears the disconnected tone and immediately hangs up. But not only does it hang up but records your number as disconnected in the call list. And from that point forward they will not waste the time calling and anyone else who works of that list will not call you. To a real person calling they hear the disconnected tone but before they can register that your phone is disconnected they hear your voice. So to them it is just a glitch in the system. I did this and after about a week I quit receiving automated calls on my cell phone. Here is the tone but only record the tone, and not the speech, to your phone or answering machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BVbyCZXc5s -
Vacuum them up is how we deal with them. Ernie would eat them and stick up the house, so far Gus seems to not like them.

Talk to him all the time. Talked to him 3-4 days ago on the phone and he was on here less than 12 hours ago.

The Noveske pig is not like any of the other look alike muzzle devices out there. If the muzzle device is a one piece it is inferior to the Noveske. The Noveske is a single baffle suppressor, silencer, and that is why it works so well. It is just like most other silencers out there except it is much shorter. And I very surprised it was not regulated by the ATF because it does do an amazing job. I have tried both the KX3 and the one piece look alike devices and there is no comparison. There are cheaper versions of the 3 piece out there that work way better than the one piece versions. http://www.cobratacsystems.com/collections/muzzle-brake-devices/products/ar-223-banshee-can-muzzle-brake-pressure-reducer-1-2x28-pitch-thread or this one http://www.cobratacsystems.com/collections/muzzle-brake-devices/products/ar-308-banshee-can-muzzle-brake-pressure-reducer-5-8x24-pitch-thread

He is either talking about smokin45, http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/user/10956-smokin45/, or SmokyBaer, http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/user/7371-smokybaer/. Those are the only two I can find that have been active in the last six months. Or maybe he has changed his name to something else.

Springfield 1911 firing pin spring weight ?????
Dolomite_supafly replied to tercel89's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I run a 20 pound spring for my main, hammer, spring and have never had issues with light strikes. I also run a steel firing pin which is harder to get moving compared to a Ti one. The firing pin will not protrude when the hammer is resting against it. The hammer strikes the firing pin and the firing pin goes pretty deep into its hole before hitting the primer. I run a 20 pound spring to reduce the trigger pull and compensate for it by running a heavier, usually 18 pound, recoil spring. I cannot recall which firing pin spring I am running, I know it is a Wolff but I cannot remember whether it is a standard or heavy. I want to say standard but I am not 100% sure. If you really want to test it go grab a box of steel cased ammunition and shoot it. If it sets those off you will not have a problem with anything else. And just to make you aware NEVER drop the slide on an empty chamber of a 1911. It WILL ruin the sear and will make the gun unsafe. The higher end the gun the more susceptible to this. I have seen a lot of guns damaged by dropping the slide on an empty chamber. What happens is the nose of the sear gets broken or rounded and then the hammer follows the slide. If you are lucky the hammer will stop at half cock. If you are unlucky the hammer will follow the slide all the way down and the gun will go off. If you are extremely unlucky the gun will not stop with one, will go full auto and empty the magazine.
