  1. 10.5 grains of IMR4227 works really well in my 8.5" gun so that is where I would start with IMR4227.   BTW, I have found that cast bullets, even coated, that are over 230 grains use data that is very close to the same date as 220 SMKs. I know my 247 grain loads using cast bullets use the exact same data as 220 SMK's.   The fear isn't too much powder with subsonic loads but too little. I would take whatever data you find and add a grain as long as it is an appropriate powder for 300 Blackout. Doing this will ensure the bullet is both fast enough to leave the barrel as well as be stable when it does. Just because a load cycles does not mean the bullet is stable, velocity is what ensures the bullet is stable.   This goes without saying but ALWAYS shoot your loads WITHOUT your suppressor until you feel comfortable they are stable. I test mine at 10-25 yards and if the bullet holes are nice and round they are probably going to be stable enough to make it out of the suppressor.
  2. Minority, freshmen football player evidently upset over a break up with long time girlfriend. Two dead, shooter and his target, and two others injured. Witnesses said he walked up and shot his best friend with a HANDGUN then, as people scattered, he shot at others then shot himself. BTW, he is native American.   It will be interesting how quickly the story will change and the shooter will have an assault weapon.   BTW, left is calling for gun control measures. Stated anyone who has a gun around children should be charged for child abuse and thrown in jail.
  3. I got mine this morning. It is lighter, thinner and fits the tube better. Personally I do not like the looks of it but it definitely works.
  4. This gives a little insight into how easily it can be transmitted. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1j8bh8_O_Q
  5. Adding a VFG to a "pistol" that is OVER 26" overall length turns it into a "firearm".   Adding a VFG to a "pistol" UNDER 26" overall length turns it into a "Any Other Weapon" and must be registered with the ATF before adding the VFG.     ETA: Hiding that "firearm" on your person becomes an "Any Other Weapon" and must be registered with the ATF.
  6.   I wonder if Cerakote sells "Airsoft orange".
  7. This is a pistol chambered in 7.62x39 that uses standard 30 round capacity magazines. And because it is a pistol I can carry it anywhere I can carry my 1911. If it were a rifle, even SBR, I would not be able to carry it like a pistol. Matter of fact outside of my vehicle and outside of my property I would be breaking the law by carrying it if it were a rifle. The brace lets me shoot it one handed. I can also shoulder it because there are no laws dictating how to fire a handgun.
  8. There is also the fact OUR government holds the patent for Ebola.
  9. Harbor freight sells N95 masks for $20.
  10. I have masks, good masks, on hand as well as tyvek suits and nitrile gloves of course. That is the only preps I have that I would consider to be for airborne disease. I also live in a pretty remote area, have a lockable gate across the driveway and the ability to hopefully persuade people I am not an easy target. The biggest advantage I have over most is I do not have to leave my property and expose myself.
  11. A1680 was miserable for me. I got ES of 100+ fps. Lil'Gun works a whole lot better with pistol gas. With Lil'Gun I was getting single digit ES numbers. I have recently started using IMR4227 and really like it so far.
  12. Sounds like it has a crimp. If you chamfer the primer pocket it will work fine.
  13. Have you oiled/greased the pin? That can go a lot way in making things work more smoothly, especially with dry anodizing.
  14.   They are perfectly legal. Matter of fact they can have stuff we cannot.
  15. It depends on what length gas system and whether you are using a suppressor what type of powder you need. Pistol length gas systems, regardless of barrel length, work with a wider variety of powders while a carbine length gas system is very, very limited. I will say that subsonic load out of a carbine length gas system will be problematic.   If you could give me the specs on your gun I can recommend a powder that will probably work.
  16. Thanks Red, that is the forearm you sent me. It took 2 previous ones to get it right but this one is RIGHT, as in PERFECT. The forearm feels so much better like this and it cut a few ounces off the gun. The SBX will cut a few more ounces but even so I may not use it.
  17.   The same kind that collect benefits and are perpetual victims. Now they have taught their kids to be victims and to blame everyone else for their misfortune.
  18. 9 twist will stabilize anything up to ~77 grain bullets. 8 twist will shoot and stabilize anything that will feed from a magazine. both 8 and 9 twist barrels will also let you shoot lightweight varmint loads. 7 twist will sling the jackets off of some lightweight bullets. I know a 53 grain SMK will shed its jacket from centrifugal force out of a 7 twist barrel but not out of a 8 or 9 twist.   7 twist will also affect a bullet's ability to fragment. The bullet must tumble first in order for the bullet to fragment. With a 7 twist the bullet will likely be over stabilized and not tumble, and in turn, not fragment. Another effect of 7 twist barrels is reduced velocity as well as more barrel wear, affecting accuracy over the long term, compared to 8 or 9 twist barrels. So you are starting out with a bullet that has a reduced velocity and the velocity is what is key to the bullet to fragmenting if it does tumble. The threshold for bullets to fragment is considered ~2,650 fps. So if the bullet you are using is going slower than that when it hits the target it will not fragment even if it does tumble.
  19. Your second one will be a 22 can. There is nothing cooler than a subsonic 22 suppressed. They are handy, useful and I consider them a survival item.
  20. I know several people who have these and are really happy.   Personally I would take melonited barrel over a chrome lined one. Also, I prefer 8 or 9 twist over 7 twist for defensive guns.   When you get ready to order the bolt I would buy the NiB bolt from AIM Surplus. They are SLICK and super EASY to clean. And the best part is they are as cheap as most other bolts that do not have the NiB treatment. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAIMBCGNIBBDG&name=AIM+AR%2fM16+.223%2f5.56+NiB+9310+MPI+BDG+Bolt+Carrier+Group&search=nib They are out of stock now but they are a regular item in their inventory.
  21.   You will not understand how important this is until you have to take a hammer to your investment to take it apart for cleaning.
  22.   It is a classic even though it isn't an oldie.
  23. Maybe, for once, I can finally sell something for more than I paid. That is if I do not like it.
  24. That is fraud/theft and is against the law.
