No, police cars don't have a bullet stopping barrier. What you are thinking about is the partition and it is nothing more than thin metal and Lexan or plexiglass to prevent a prisoner from physically attacking the officer. It will not stop a bullet in most cases unless it was a very low velocity round and even then, I'm not sure the standard partition would stop it. I assume that there are some that are bullet resistant, however they would be expensive and most departments wouldn't use them (heck some don't even pay for the basic ones). As a side note, cops always like to hide behind their car doors, but those aren't bullet proof by a long shot. However, I digress... As far as the officer's actions, I am certain that I would disarm the person before transporting them, but each officer has to make that call individually. There is something to be said about the idea of an average Joe who is open-carrying that flags down a cop and tells them they are armed not being a threat. Seriously, what sort of person would do that if their intent was to kill a cop? Obviously, we have some nutty folks out there, and I personally wouldn't take that risk myself, but if that officer was comfortable with it, so be it. It's also a documented issue that cops spend too much time worrying about getting killed and it results in everyone becoming a "symbolic assailant" and a potential grave threat to the officer. Realistically, out of the millions of police/citizen encounters every day in America, police homicides are a fairly rare occurrence and policing is ranked 10th in the most dangerous jobs behind agricultural work, construction, and others. Pretty consistently, about half of the officers who die every year are killed in car wrecks and not homicides, and of those homicides, the officer was typically engaged in a criminal investigation of some sort, not a motorist assist. My point? The officer's actions are not what I personally would do if I was back on patrol, but far from being suicidal.

I just saw this. Ya know, I'm not Jewish, and I'm far from being a "political correctness" kind of guy, but this is pretty low. Are we stooping so low as to make fun of a human being killed by the Nazis in the Holocaust? And this from a moderator? WTF???

Make sure you do some "after" pics for us to see.

Ya know what they say, it's better to have loved and lost than to spend the rest of your life living with that crazy ^$%%#^@+*#.

Looks like this fellow was only here to ask folks to sell him a pistol. What a waste of bandwidth and server space.

A cheap shoulder holster isn't going to be comfortable at all, and expensive shoulder holsters aren't much better in most cases. They are literally like wearing a backpack all day long assuming you will also put a mag carrier on it as well. I own a Galco Miami Classic that I got a great deal on many years back. I literally wore it once. It was just too much of a hassle to put on, keep stable, and keep concealed. You have to keep a jacket on or wear two shirts to keep it concealed, which sucks. It also went against my own muscle memory that was accustomed to having my pistol on my hip. The cheap holsters use nylon straps that cut into your skin under the weight of the pistol and the fit of the holster is usually lousy. I have made a couple of shoulder rigs for folks, but they have all been pilots who are carrying their Beretta M9 while flying over in the Middle East. I think the shoulder rig is a great special purpose rig, but I'm not a fan of them for EDC.

Spanish Mauser FR-8

Yup, that was one thing I remember about mine. It beat me up. I got a rubber pad and put on it, which helped a lot. I hope I get a replacement someday myself. -
Then why announce anything at all? If they currently hold him as you suggest, it would be in the best interest of the government to keep the news under wraps. Again, lying about this would be the most epic lie in world political history. And for what? So that Obama would get a bump in poll numbers over a year before an election?
-
Bin Laden is dead, Obama made the call (shockingly), the outcome was the result of policies put into place by Bush including that pesky Gitmo place, those darn torture tactics that "don't work," and SEAL Team 6 "Dick Cheney's personal assassination squad." Obama will probably get a small and brief bump, but the death of Bin Laden doesn't lower gas prices, doesn't reduce the national debt, doesn't decrease inflation, doesn't help the housing market, and doesn't help create good jobs. In a week or so, all the fair-weather supporters of Obama will come back to reality and he'll be in the basement. Also, the "approval" number can be greatly influenced by the exact wording of the poll question being asked. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were an Obama supporter.
-
So now the stupid conspiracy theories have started. To really think that the Obama administration would be able to convince thousands of politicians, CIA officials, and American service personnel to go along with this just to boost his approval rating is absurd. If Obama made this all up, it would be the most epic lie in world history and spell instant and total collapse of his political and professional career. It's too big of a story to keep under wraps for long if it were actually a lie. There are far too many Obama critics and political opportunists who would be eager to break this story and destroy him. This is always the fatal flaw in every conspiracy theory. If "two people can keep a secret if one is dead," Obama would have a lot of executions to carry out to keep that lie quiet. I don't like Obama any more than most of you, but this is just nuts. It makes the Obama critics look like a hoard of crazy paranoid psychotics and is just as bad as the "global warming" goofballs.

Nice pistol. Too bad the importers decided to engrave their entire business plan across the slide like a billboard. Someone at PW Arms must have worked for Ruger at some point.

It's an ambidextrous momentary touch switch. One push turns it on, a second turns it off. It doesn't matter which side you press. -
LaserMax UniMax Micro Laser Review
East_TN_Patriot replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Here is the range report. I am VERY pleased with this laser! I fired 50 rounds of Winchester 124 grain FMJ and the laser worked flawlessly. As expected, the laser was not visible on the target in full sunlight (it was about 4:30p), but when I moved the target into the shade, it was clearly visible. I did not detect any change in the zero and the laser remained securely mounted on the pistol. My final string of 7 rounds was fired off-hand using only the laser in rapid succession with only a brief pause between shots to get the pistol back on target. As you can see, the laser kept the shots well-placed on the target. The rounds pulling to the left are a product of my shooting and not the laser. Each square is one inch. I am extremely pleased with the performance of the UniMax Micro laser and would recommend it to anyone who is in the market for a laser sight for their compact pistol. MSRP on this model is $129, but shopping around, you can get them for $100 or a little less. With this laser, it seems you get a lot of bang for your buck (pardon the pun). -
Banana pudding is my favorite! And they are correct, gun ownership positively correlates with higher rates of successful suicide. If you're gonna do yourself in, a gun is a far more effective way than taking pills and quicker than hanging yourself. Sometimes I feel a little suicidal when I can't get my nanner puddin'.

Thinking about a Versipack
East_TN_Patriot replied to peejman's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Then the Jumbo should be good to go. It will hold a surprising amount of stuff, but is not so massive to look like a briefcase. I just made my own leather holster for the bag, but that's easy for me to do. -

I think it would be well worth it for a CCW pistol. I'm planning a trip to the range either later this afternoon or tomorrow to see how it performs and whether it will hold zero. I'll be sure to update once I do. -
As Rep. Giffords prepares to attend shuttle launch, Gun Owners' Erich Pratt says 'armed citizens pose a huge deterrent to criminals' – In the Arena - CNN.com Blogs As an interesting side note, I actually had a face-to-face chat with Dr. Kleck (mentioned in the article) at the 2009 American Society of Criminology Annual Meeting in Philadelphia and talked about this particular issue. My impression was that he still doesn't particularly support concealed carry, but stands by his findings. One anti-gun friend of mine challenged the article as being "disingenuous" because the Denver church shooting was stopped by one who was hired as an armed security guard and happened to also have a carry permit rather than a private citizen with CCW. I did some research and found this article: http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/14817480/detail.html In it, the pastor of the church says that the security is provided by church volunteers who are screened and selected. The only ones who are armed are those with a carry permit. In short, had Colorado law not allowed permit holders to carry their firearms in churches, this lady would not have been able to engage the attacker and neutralize the threat.
