  1. Silly me. I should know better by now. :doh:Here ya go! This shows the location of the Kel Tec OEM rail and some aftermarket rails I attached to the foregrip. This shows the Kel Tec OEM stock extension and the two add-ons I got from Tacticool. Here is the aftermarket trigger I got from a fellow who runs AzTac, Inc. And here is my complete Zombie Defense Kit that includes my 2nd Gen G22, high-cap mags, and RAT3 knife.
  2. I have the Glock .40 version and love it. It's a great little carbine. I added the Kel Tec accessory rail and the Kel Tec stock extension. I did find an aluminum trigger for it and that made a big difference in the feel of the trigger pull. I also got a buffer tube cover and charging knob cover from Tacticool. It makes a tremendous difference in comfort when shooting the carbine. If you visit the Kel Tec Owners Group forum, they have a pretty sweet Sub2K Porn thread with lots of pics of mods folks have done to their carbines.

  4. And of course, any good house guest knows that they should bring a gift for the host, say maybe some whiskey? ;-)
  5. I just asked a fellow who is a friend of mine that is with the ABC. He said he would have to dig into it a little bit, but his immediate answer is that it would be a violation of the law to sell them without a liquor license or a collector license.
  6. As the others have said, all it takes is some persistence and a little coaxing. The bands on my rifle were pretty caked with gunk and shellac so it took a little bit of persuasion with a flat blade screwdriver to get them loose.
  7. Mine took about 6 weeks as well and arrived today. Somewhere on TGO is a thread with a list of C&R dealers. I have already spotted one I will be getting and I suspect the wife will be really peeved if I don't apprehend it before she gets home from work.
  8. For those interested, here is the website for the folks trying to put together the range project: http://www.phantomfirearms.com According to some info I picked up from Ace Pawn: "This range will be the most comprehensive indoor firearms complex in East Tennessee offering 12 rifle-rated 33 yard firing lanes, a pro-shop, gunsmith services, a variety of shooting clubs and a firearms education center. As an NRA sanctioned facility we will be able to host a variety of sanctioned national, organizational and private shooting events... We have a developer agreement and preliminary bank approval..." They are trying to get as many people to show interest as possible in order to present the data to the bank to make sure they get the loan. I would imagine that if you were to contact the folks by e-mail, they will either send you a copy of the interest survey. The e-mail is: range@phantomfirearms.com I just sent them an e-mail suggesting that they post the survey as a form page on the website, so we'll see if they do that or not.
  9. Not exactly... "I prefer liberty with danger over peaceful slavery." It's my signature.
  10. Hmmm... I don't know if there is any law/ordinance against it or not. The impression I got was that everything was squared away pending getting the financing, but I can only assume they looked into zoning requirements, etc. That could only be a city ordinance and the city limits end near the I-75 exit in Powell. I don't know...

  12. Yeah, Flo has a certain "Say my name!" quality about her.
  13. Boy, where to begin on the TV commercials: 1) Fox and Farmer "two for you" and their stupid computer animations. 2) Ogle, Elrod, & Baril and their stupid "we come to you" BS with the helicopter and the speedboat. 3) Cialis. I effing HATE those! Guy sneezes, his wife gets all hot an bothered, the house turns into an exotic jungle, and they are naked in bathtubs in the woods. 4) Pajama jeans. 5) That "GOLD!" commercial with that douche G Gordon Liddy 6) Any cat food commercial because I just don't like cats. Radio: 1) Any commercial narrated by Phil Williams. That guy's voice and idiotic sense of humor grate on every last nerve I have. I totally quit listening to talk radio in Knoxville because of that guy's voice. 2) Those stupid Gemstone Designs commercials where they make it sound like their highbrow overpriced store is THE only place where good civilized folk sell their gold. News flash: From personal experience, they are the WORST in Knoxville on their gold buying prices. I got $200 from Kell's for an old ring that Gemstone Designs offered me $125 for.
  14. And that is the key. Many people get caught up in the bidding and when you couple that with folks who probably know very little about guns, you end up with premium prices. I think many people attend auctions assuming that everything will go at a bargain price, so novice gun folks don't even think about researching prices.
  15. I think this argument is one in the same. A person who reloads will get more ammo to shoot for the same amount of money. That's saving money in my book and I reload to save money. Seems like you're splitting hairs.
  16. Reading this while barefoot. I'm one of those "new age" shooters. Gunpowder is good for your karma. That said, I burned the dog snot out of my face the other day shooting my AR. I had my spotting scope next to the rifle and the brass kept bouncing off of it back into my face. One hit the bridge of my nose just above my shooting glasses and three others hit my cheek. My wife got home from work, looked at me, and said, "You went to the range today, didn't you?"
  17. I'd contact them about it. Whatever it would cost to ship back for repair or replacement would be cheaper than buying a new Spyderco. You could also tell them that this is the second time and they may send you a different model of comparable value. That's what I would do if I liked the knife otherwise. Also, is it the screws that are stripped or is it the holes? If it's the screws, you can likely order new ones for next to nothing and then loctite those in place. If it's the holes, I don't think there would be anything to prevent that other than Benchmade using stronger material for the handles to keep the screws from stripping the threads.
  18. Really, the PPK and the PPS are so different, there really is no comparison. It has a polymer grip frame with an aluminum alloy insert. The slide and barrel are steel. The difference between the PPK and PPK/S is distinct. The PPK style pistols are simple blowback style actions and only come in .32ACP or .380ACP. The PPS uses a locked breech action like most modern semi-auto pistols. It comes in a 9mm or .40 S&W calibers. The PPK style pistols are also traditional double/single action pistols and the PPS is a striker fired pistol. If you are a Glock guy, you'll find that the PPS is very similar to your Glock 19 except that it's a single stack and much thinner.
  19. I think it is every bit as good as a factory Glock trigger (I have a G22 as well). The trigger is smooth and crisp with no significant overtravel and has a decent reset. I have noticed it get better as I have shot it, which is what most PPS owners say about it (admittedly, it could be a placebo effect). The trigger is manageable enough that I can plink golf balls at about 25 yards and tear a jagged hole in paper at 10 yards with no trouble. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I LOVE THAT PPS! Also, when I was at the range the other day with it, I made some realizations about the backstrap and the mag release. The backstrap, when properly installed, is held in place by the magazine, the upper part of the grip frame, and your hand. The only way to remove the backstrap is to slide it down and then pull it away from the bottom (kind of like the battery cover on many electronics). It's no easy task when you are trying to do it and impossible when the mag is installed. That brings us to the mag release. The benefit to the mag release as it is designed is to prevent accidental dropping of the mag. If you have it in a holster with the trigger guard fully covered, there is no way to accidentally bump the mag free. There have been more than one person I have seen on the range pull their pistol from the holster and watch the mag hit the ground because they accidentally bumped it in the holster. When you are shooting, the position of your hands also makes it nearly impossible to accidentally drop the mag, which can happen with a button style mag release. For a CCW gun, I really think this thing is hard to beat unless it would be in overall size.
  20. This topic was talked about pretty in-depth in this thread, so it may be helpful to browse through it: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handguns/58379-lc9-10-thumbs-down.html My vote still goes for the Walther PPS 9mm.
  21. I wouldn't mind doing something like that to my G22. It is a police trade-in and the frame has worn darn near smooth in a couple of key spots. Not sure if I have the guts to take a woodburning pen to it...
  22. My grandfather was in Korea and started out with an M1 Garand, but transferred to the ASA and carried an M1 Carbine and 1911 pistol when he was on an outpost in the former East Germany (not in Korea... I know).
  23. So it is an alloy, which would explain the strength factor. Thanks for that info.
