I promised the folks at Classic Arms...
East_TN_Patriot replied to BigK's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Glad I read this because I was considering ordering a couple of Mosins from them, including one of those snipers. Thank you for saving me a lot of aggravation. I can't believe they would be so rude and so deceptive with their business practices. They are Christians. Says so right at the top of their website. And they have a daily Bible verse for you on there too. Actually... that's usually the first red flag I look at when considering doing business with anyone. I always feel that if you have to broadcast it to get business, something isn't quite right. A good Christian attitude and ethic will show through on its own. -
Not a weapon but cool new kitchen knives - JA Henckels
East_TN_Patriot replied to 7dogguy's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
A few years back, my mom was looking for a good set of kitchen knives. I told her to either get some Henckels or a set of Wusthofs. She got the Wusthofs and absolutely loves them. I don't think you can go wrong with either. -
Would you recommend a red dot or holographic for an AR15 carbine? Is there a benefit to one over the other except for looks?

See? This law might work out OK after all. -
Michelle Bachman derails her own Presidential campaign
East_TN_Patriot replied to a topic in General Chat
They are signing a pledge to support a Constitutional amendment. Clearly, no single politician will ever be able to do that on their own and there's no way Americans will support it enough for it to actually pass, but to see any politicians pulling a political stunt like this speaks volumes. But this shows that Bachmann and Santorum are not constitutionalists. They are advocating a Constitutional amendment to ban porn and gay marriage. If they are willing to pick and choose "moral" issues to use the power of government to restrict without a Constitutional argument to go with it, they are not constitutionalists. They are politicians using government to push their own agendas. Living in a free nation means we not only tolerate behaviors we don't necessarily agree with, but we actively defend these behaviors because we are only one politician away from them wanting to ban something WE do that they find objectionable. -
Michelle Bachman derails her own Presidential campaign

I have no problem at all with pledging to ban Sharia Law. It is in direct conflict with our Constitution and there have been cases in the US where American courts have actually considered Sharia law in ruling on criminal cases. Sharia has NO place in American society. The other two "bans" are a great way to commit political suicide, and I have now abandoned my support for Bachmann. Porn is protected by the 1st Amendment, and I believe that gay people have the same rights as heterosexual couples to marry. So that pretty much covers that. -
Serpa, Holster of Death, Strikes Again
East_TN_Patriot replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Well, based on the overall comments here, looks like my personal saying is true: life's too short to use a plastic holster. -

Some of you clearly didn't watch the entire video and are responding primarily on the OP's title, which is deceptive. The fellow specifically says that he doesn't blame the holster, but that it was his own fault with the holster design being a factor that contributed to the mistake he made. He was trying to show how even someone who knows what they are doing can make a mistake. I believe he knows what he is doing based on his actions after shooting himself. He engages the safety, places the pistol on the ground, and doesn't totally flip out. That shows he clearly has trained with that pistol and reverted to his training. Lucky for him it didn't look too serious and it takes a brave person to expose a mistake like that to the world for all to see, especially when many in the gun world are so very quick to throw stones. -
Sort of depressing being so close to the 4th.

I know a gal who went to that protest. She is a socialist and she not only advocates open borders, but advocates doing away with all immigration laws completely. She also believes that nations should do away with borders completely and we should have a one-world government with all wealth and resources shared equally by everyone. You simply can't carry out an argument with someone who honestly believes that way because they view reality totally differently than you do. -
I need holster recommendations, Please....
East_TN_Patriot replied to SALK's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Life's too short to wear a plastic holster, especially an IWB made of plastic. My first IWB was a Galco Royal Guard and I still have it. It's probably one of the best IWB holsters out there IMHO. -
Really? There are many thousands of dead folks who'd question that assertion.

Building off of Caster's post, the concept of "freedom" has changed over time. Most of us refer to freedom as meaning "freedom of choice" over our own lives, but during the past century, many have adopted the concept of "freedom" as freedom from want, which gives the government more power to intervene in our private lives to make sure nobody suffers any ills or does without. And there in lies my point. Being able to access your firearm rapidly under stress requires you to train as you carry. If you train with the holster in one position, I PROMISE that under stress, that is where your hand is going to go with your handgun in a totally different place. I didn't dream this up. It's a well-documented fact in the firearms training world. One of the most notable incidents was the killing of four CHP officers some of whom had empty brass in their pockets. The reason became clear when they went to the range at their police academy. Officers were instructed to catch their revolver brass and put it in their pocket to save time by not picking it up off the range. In the stress of the firefight, the officers caught their brass and put it in their pocket. They had also trained with .38 spl rounds and carried .357 mag on the street, which the investigation states contributed to their very poor shot/hit ratio. Since that incident, police firearms training has changed dramatically because one fact remains: You revert to how you train. Carry that holster in one spot, but train with it in another? That is a recipe for disaster if the SHTF.

I got an EMF Hartford (basically a Rossi 92 with their name stamped on it) in .45LC and I love it. Next one on my list is a Rossi Ranch Hand in .45LC.

IMHO, you would be far better off just finding a single carry position and stick with it. Part of accessing your weapon quickly under stress is the muscle memory you gain from consistently accessing your weapon from the same position over and over again. This is why police duty holsters have tension screws to keep them in place on the duty belt (and also why the duty holsters with retention features instruct the user to practice! practice! practice! with removing the firearm). The last thing you want is to end up in a deadly force encounter and reach for your pistol only to say, "Oh poop! I forgot I put my holster on the left side and upside down today... or is it in the small of my back? No, wait, crossdraw!" Or just wait until you forget to check the tightness of the screws and your super-duper roto-holster spins upside down when you bump it against something and your pistol falls out.

Carried one for almost 10 years as a back-up and off-duty gun instead of any number of semi-auto pistols. I now use it for CCW when the mood strikes. I had mine silver hard chromed several years ago when the factory paint started to chip off of the aluminum frame. I also have Eagle checkered rosewood Secret Service grips that I absolutely love. Simply a fantastic small carry weapon. +P rounds should be used sparingly even if it is +P rated to keep it good and tight for the long haul.

The victim of this disgusting abuse of government power is a 95 year old woman who is dying of cancer and must use a wheelchair. How much longer are Americans going to let this kind of tyrannical behavior continue?!? Elderly woman asked to remove adult diaper during TSA search | mother, search, adult - The News Herald And what really peeves me is that once you get to that point in the process, you are not allowed to stop the search and leave. Doing so is a crime. I refuse to fly at this point and if I, or anyone in my family, were ever subjected to such treatment, I would likely end up in jail due to a little non-violent civil disobedience and vocal protesting. The TSA's policies are infuriating!

It's not liberalism that's the problem. It's "progressives" that are the problem. "Progressive" people from both the right and the left tend to be statists and have these screwy beliefs that society needs the guidance of political elites and central planners to function properly.

I've seen pics of them and reproductions come up for sale every once in a while. Basically, they are a padded canvas belt holster with leg strap to hold a folding M1 carbine. I guess they wanted to have a good way for Airborne troops to carry their carbines when jumping.
-
Come on, you know you want to. Seriously, it's a really cool and practical little carbine. It's a very simple design and runs like a champ. I can't think of very many folks I have heard about who didn't like theirs. A lot of bang for your buck on these Sub 2000 carbines. The OEM rail attachment is a small one that is just large enough to mount the TLR-2 light. The other three rails were aftermarket and I just drilled some holes in the grip panels and mounted them with screws. Kel Tec makes an actual picatinney rail forend, but it's a little pricey and usually out of stock. I may break down and get one some day, but I like my current setup. The only downside to these is that it's very difficult to mount optics without giving up the folding feature, which is what originally attracted me to the rifle in the first place. There is a folding scope mount that Kel Tec offers, but it has not gotten very good reviews. There are a variety of homemade mounts and mods that people have tried. I just figure that with the laser and the peep sights, I should be good to go.
