Yeah, no kidding. They have a nice deal on used Sig P226 handguns right now.

This. When I was a LEO, I paid for the PBA legal defense. It's well worth the investment. It's primarily the worry about getting sued that has kept me from taking a reserve job. Wear your body armor and wear your seat belt. As many cops are killed in traffic crashes as by gunfire.

Yes, this is the part that does peeve me. While Chicago is coming apart at the seams, Rahm is worried about a fast food chain. No government should have the power to ban or block a business based on some political topic like this if they otherwise qualify for a business license in that jurisdiction. Or a mosque, but I digress...

The Bill of Rights is not an all-inclusive list of rights. It is a list of rights that were especially important to the anti-Federalists who demanded that certain rights be specifically included in the Constitution. Our nation is founded on the concept of Natural Rights, which assumes that we are all born with "certain inalienable rights" including "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." It's kind of hard for people to enjoy life, liberty, and pursue happiness when people are saying they can't marry because people have a particular interpretation of a couple of select verses in the Christian Bible. I don't care how people choose to live their lives and who they want to marry or have sex with. As long as they are consenting adults, what business is it of mine? I have known many homosexual couples in my life and there are a few same-sex couples who attend my church. They have never hurt me. Why should I judge them because they sin differently than I do? We have a lot more serious problems in this country than this diversion. If people are worried about the sanctity of marriage, it seems they need to focus on their own relationships because our divorce rate and problem of domestic violence is certainly no testament to the Christian definition of marriage (incidentally, Jesus never said a word about homosexuality, but did specifically speak against divorce and adultery). As a Christian libertarian, I'm not boycotting Chick-fil-A, nor did I eat there today because there's no way I'm standing in line for an hour to get a fast food chicken sandwich. I went to Bojangles and was in and out in less than 5 minutes.

I too would keep the Sig.

It's like I said when Susan Sarandon made her stupid Twitter post saying that the 2nd Amendment only applies to muskets. I said that using her stupid logic, the 1st Amendment wouldn't apply to her lousy acting or her idiotic tweets. Anti-gun people work simply off of emotion with no logic applied.

Private McDonalds: A Call to the Manager
East_TN_Patriot replied to Paladin132's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Well done, my friend. I've made similar calls and emails, but didn't phrase them quite the way you did. Not sure if they ever made any difference, but I still keep doing it. -
AFAIK, J&T is the retail/distributor arm of the same folks who produce Double Star rifles and parts.

I got busted last night for a little "loan" I made to myself for a shotgun. I borrowed it from our savings account a couple of months ago and planned to replace it with some extra money I am getting next month. I thought I was golden on it, but out of the blue my wife asked me about the missing money. This was her: Then I was like: Then she was like: So I responded with: Then things got ugly: So for the near future, I am:

Batman shooter tried to sign up for gun club
East_TN_Patriot replied to 1pointofview's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I wish the guy from the gun club had described exactly what the voice mail greeting said that was so "bizarre" that he would flag the guy's application. I suppose that his silence on the details is a sign of class, but I sure would like to know the details. -
Scalia: Guns May be Regulated
East_TN_Patriot replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't know how we could come up with a better way. Do we want them elected? Do we want them appointed by the POTUS and subject to dismissal at the whim of the POTUS? The idea was to free the Justices from the influence of politics and the threat of losing their job for making a ruling that wasn't politically popular or ran counter to the parties in power. Recommended by the POTUS and approved by the Senate is really the best way to go in my opinion. This is perhaps the most important reason why people need to make informed decisions about who they vote for. -

So, an off-duty LAPD officer leaves his unholstered and loaded Glock service pistol under the seat of his truck. He then takes the child seat out of his truck and goes for a ride with his 3 year old son, who retrieved the Glock from under the driver's seat and fired a shot into his dad. Now dad is suing Glock for not producing a firearm with "adequate safety features" to prevent his kid from shooting it. Give. Me. A. Friggin'. Break. http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Judge-allows-paralyzed-dad-to-sue-Glock-3732408.php

Shooting at Denver theater during new Batman movie.
East_TN_Patriot replied to K191145's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yes I am. It's called ethics and the rule of law. Our legal system does not provide for the police to execute suspected criminals, and planting evidence is a crime. So it's ok for the police to ignore the law when you don't like the target, but think it's wrong when you do like the target of LEOs? Until the guy is convicted in court, he's innocent. If he was no longer posing an immediate threat, deadly force is no longer authorized. Last time I checked, the Constitution protects all of us, even the worst of us. If you are willing to toss it aside for any single person, then it's not worth anything. -
Shooting at Denver theater during new Batman movie.
East_TN_Patriot replied to K191145's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Last week people are complaining about the police for being jack-booted thugs for confronting people who open carry in a restaurant, and this week people are complaining that the police didn't execute this guy and plant evidence to make an illegal shooting look justified. Nice. And I won't even start on the conspiracy BS... This thread does not fail to deliver, that's for sure. -
Ok, that is the way to do it. Someone somewhere either misunderstood the procedure or told it wrong.

I'm curious... how do they train to change magazines? I have heard they were training people to do a reload by using the slide release to let the slide go forward, drop the empty mag, insert a fresh mag, and then reload by cycling the slide by hand instead of just releasing the slide on the fresh mag to load the weapon. Is this true?
-
Well, in my 10 years of law enforcement experience including time as a firearms instructor, that is a rare requirement. In fact, at my department no loaded firearms were allowed to be brought onto the range. We cleared them as soon as we arrived on site. We kept our handguns unloaded and holstered with no mag in the pistol. Long guns were unloaded with the action open. If there was live fire to be done, we loaded on the firing line, and left the line with a clear weapon. We loaded them back up on our way off the range for the day. I've seen many civilian locations that have similar rules. I've heard of courses that will kick you out if you arrive on the range with a loaded firearm. When I took that idiotic CCW class upon moving to Tennessee (no, they said my extensive firearms training and experience wasn't sufficient since I didn't take it in Tennessee, so I got to watch that stupid video of two Highway Patrol officers who couldn't even identify the handguns lying on the table they were asked to talk about), they made it very clear that we were not to bring a loaded firearm to the classroom or onto the range. We went hot on the line right before we fired. I don't think it's fair to act as if people are dumb or ill-prepared because they follow the rules that tend to dominate in the firearms world. In fact, I would suggest that bringing loaded firearms into a training classroom is a recipe for a negligent discharge. Cops get killed every year in firearms related training "accidents" caused by people firing off "unloaded" firearms in a training class. I would have come with an empty weapon, but loaded mags.

No, it's a Walther product imported by Smith & Wesson. It says "Made in Germany" right on the side and has all the German proof marks. I used to be a big fan of Smith & Wesson, but in the past decade, their quality has gone in the tank. They even managed to screw up the tried and true PPK when they started making it in their factory. I still have a couple of older S&W revolvers, but I don't foresee owning another new Smith & Wesson. They do have excellent customer service overall, but the only reason I know this is because I, and lots of others, have had to use it in the past few years.
