OK, I'll do it. What we are discussing is a legitimate issue that people like Alex Jones turn into a tinfoil hat conspiracy. Isn't anyone even slightly skeptical that of all the media outlets and media personalities, politicians that support liberty, and others speaking out against the government that Alex Jones is the ONLY one who ever gets info from all of these unnamed sources with seemingly classified insider information? Again, the argument is that there is absolutely nobody in the federal government or military beyond this one "unnamed source" that believes in the rights of Americans and refuses to blow the whistle. Not one of these dismissed officers has sounded the alarm and not one has had a change of heart. Even Ron Paul is in on the conspiracy or somehow simply doesn't know what's going on. It's such a well kept secret that Wikileaks didn't find anything on it, and groups like Anonymous haven't happened across any evidence of this seemingly widespread federal policy. Someone else mentioned Katrina. The weapons confiscations during Katrina is a far cry from the insinuation that federal government is preparing to join forces with some secret cabal (UN, NWO, FEMA, communists, etc.) to take over the nation. By wasting time and energy on these absurd conspiracy claims, we are not addressing the legitimate problems and questions that are right in front of our faces. Let's take Katrina for instance. Did the circumstances following Katrina justify confiscation of weapons from law-abiding gun owners? I don't think so, and I find that precedent troubling. But let's argue that point on the merits of the incident alone recognizing that it could lead to a slippery-slope situation without jumping off the cliff into Alex Jones land. Convincing members of the National Guard to collect weapons from people following a natural disaster and absolute social chaos is a much easier sell for most Americans than telling them to launch armed attacks on Americans who voice political dissent. Again, do you ACTUALLY believe that there isn't a single person in our military or government with a conscience or love for individual liberty or that all of the military members who voted against Obama will be so easily convinced that killing American protesters is OK? Also, I agree that efforts to portray Tea Party members and anti-federalists as potentially domestic terrorists is very troubling. However, when we see people like Alex Jones and his followers going out on a ledge with their loony conspiratorial rhetoric and people getting on the Internet openly advocating armed revolution or discussing when Americans should take up arms against the government (including on TGO from time-to-time), we are making the government's argument for them. By playing into the Alex Jones trap, people may find themselves getting what they ask for. That is the real danger here. Incidentally, I recently spoke with a high-ranking member of the Department of Justice who agreed to talk on promise of anonymity that the Obama administration is actually publicly supporting gun control efforts, but is secretly trying to derail it behind the scenes in order to maintain support of the NRA so that they can get Joe Biden elected to the presidency in 2016. Biden plans to repeal all gun legislation and there is talk of issuing all members of the unorganized militia (as defined in the Dick Act) M-4 rifles and ammo in order to protect the nation from a possible terrorist attack or invasion by the Chinese. The Obama administration is trying to keep this all quiet so the Chinese and the Russians won't catch wind of it. All of this gun control rhetoric is a massive smokescreen to hide the real agenda of the government.

I keep grease on the rails of mine as well. I never had any function problems with Break Free, but like knowing the grease won't evaporate or creep like oil. I have strongly considering having the SRT installed on my P226. From the comments here, I may just have to break down and do it.

I don't buy this for a second. I know several military officers, including current students who will be commissioned upon graduation. Virtually all are very supportive of the 2nd Amendment and believe very strongly in the Constitution as a whole. At best, this so-called "litmus test" is nothing more than a confirmation that they will uphold the very same oath that all service members must take, which is to protect the nation from all enemies "foreign and domestic." So basically, every person who has taken an oath upon joining the military has sworn to use force against fellow Americans if the need arises. The issue here is whether there is some devious plot to use the military against the US population, and if there is, how likely it would be that thousands of American servicemen and women would see the order to fire upon fellow Americans as a legitimate order. Our service members are not robots, but have a brain and decide whether they think the mission is legitimate or not. I don't think that thousands of our service members would turn on Americans simply because they were told to do so by a political administration that they generally don't support. Alex Jones is a scourge on this country and the vile garbage he puts out is destructive to supporters of liberty.

Lone Wolf Barrel in 9mm for my Glock 17
East_TN_Patriot replied to Jamie Jackson's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I had a Lone Wolf barrel for a Glock 22 I owned. I was impressed by the fit and finish. It functioned fine and accuracy was excellent. I plan to pick one up for my G17 eventually so I can shoot lead with it. -
I would disagree. Many people assume that PayPal has adopted its policies because of a political stance on firearms. Much more likely is that their policies have been driven by statutes and concerns about litigation in case they are implicated in a transaction that let to the unlawful or negligent use of a firearm. Even if PayPal was nothing more than the entity that transferred the funds, they are part of the transaction, and they are the ones with the deep pockets that would be guaranteed to be part of any lawsuit. Considering we have states that want to sue gun makers for gun crimes and thousands of attorneys always looking for a quick buck through a settlement, PayPal has insulated themselves from being party to a lawsuit. I don't like it any more than anyone else, but that is the world we live in right now. For those not aware, there was a failed effort to start a more gun-friendly alternative to PayPal. The endeavor started out as GunPal, and then became known as GPal. The service was started by Ben Cannon of CalGuns fame and basically went belly up with many vendors unable to collect money from their accounts. Cannon was charged criminally, but best info I've seen says that he was basically guilty of being a lousy businessman. Fortunately, I never actually used my GPal account, so I wasn't out any money. GunsAmerica also tried the same project, but was unable to make it work. According to them: So, basically we are stuck with what we have and we use it for what we can and find other ways to send money for transactions that are prohibited. It's their service, so we play by their rules or don't play at all.

I run my holster business using Pay Pal. When I set up my account, they did look at my website and contacted me to confirm that I was not selling firearms or prohibited items, the list of which has been the same for years. I've never had any problems selling my gun-related items and Pay Pal has been helpful in resolving any problems when they pop up.

You can't go wrong with either. I can't speak to the extra lube question because I've never heard anything like that. Sig built their factory in the USA to circumvent the import restrictions on firearms and the requirement for military contractors to be in the United States (at least that is my understanding). As far as I am aware, there is no difference in the construction or specs of US made pistols versus German made pistols.

I don't think I've ever heard of it. They probably need a better marketing campaign to get membership up. I try to pay attention and honestly don't recall hearing of the group. EDIT: I just joined. Now I can't be blamed for not helping out. For others who have not joined, it's a $35 annual membership and you can pay online. Join here: http://www.tfaonline.org/index.php/tfa/join

You crank it for something like 2 minutes and the radio will run quite a while before the battery drains down. Also, with the solar cell, you don't have to crank at all to keep it charged if you have sun. I've never actually timed how long it lasts on a 2 min crank.
-
That's the one I have. Mine works well and I like the crank and solar recharging options. It's about the size of a box of ammo, so you can stash it away easily.

OK. What is TFA?

Here's the ban list
East_TN_Patriot replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Why, we can't allow poor people to have easy access to firearms! Imagine what that bunch of rabble and peasants might do if they get their hands on guns! -
Already have a discussion going on it here: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/59381-heres-the-ban-list/

Here's the ban list

I don't want to say this too loudly, but I'm a little surprised at how limited the list of shotguns is. -

My feelings are that the NRA is asleep at the wheel on this one. Beyond the press conference with LaPierre, they have done nothing. Where is the NRA press conference with academics talking about the data, law enforcement officials talking about the problems with dealing with the mentally ill who commit these mass shootings, and crime victims who used a weapon in self defense? This is likely a battle that will be won with public support. If the only message getting out is the one put out by the Feinstein crew, our side is sunk.

Assault Rifle Not Used In Newtown
East_TN_Patriot replied to FlyboyLDB's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Did someone have a little too much coffee this morning? Settle down. And yes, you do have a need to vet stories from media outlets. That ability is what separates the sheepdogs from the sheep. If you are content with repeating information given to you without any concern for it's accuracy or context, then you are part of the problem, not the solution. Lashing out at people who point that out to you doesn't accomplish anything either. -
I had a couple Glock 17 mags on backorder and they filled them the other day. If you had some PMags on backorder, they are filling some of those as well.
-
Except I have never heard of any effort to ban anything in .22LR except maybe the hi-cap mags. In fact, the list of guns in Feinstein's bill specifically exempts .22LR firearms (assuming the list was legitimate).
-
I have done some searching on the web to try and get a sense for why there is a .22LR shortage. Most of this is based on comments made by people on various forums and some from my own conversations. The main reason is what most of us already suspect. People are hoarding .22LR. It sounds as if the preppers are in on the game this time because many preppers see it as the most practical survival round and so with their general mindset to prep, they are doing it with ammo as well. Next we have the general ammo hoarders who see the news and the store shelves emptying out so they buy as much of anything they can afford. Then we have my favorite group: the hoarders who are doing it for resale. One person on the web talked about how he was at the store and found 6 bricks of .22LR on the shelf. He grabbed one and the guy behind him took the other 5. While waiting in line, he bragged about how he had a circuit of stores he went through and bought out all the ammo he could. I have spoken with employees at two different Wal Marts and both told me that their ammo shipments are primarily being bought up by local people who mark it up for sale at the gun shows along with some gun shops that do the same. One of the Wal Mart employees said that people are waiting on the mornings when ammo shipments arrive and the entire lot is bought before the pallet is unloaded. Associated with that is the massive popularity of the .22LR cartridge. With all of the .22LR variants of popular weapons, conversion kits, etc., there are many more people shooting more of this caliber. The next reason I read is related to the manufacturing capacity used by ammunition makers to fill military contracts. I would think that after a decade at war, the major ammo producers would have increased capacity to meet demand, but this does not appear to be the case. Here's the info FWIW, so enjoy scrounging for .22LR.

All the more reason we need to do it ourselves. Just as no person should become dependent on the government, neither should we become dependent on the NRA to fight for our gun rights. It's time that every gun owner take an active role in the preservation of our rights as law-abiding gun owners.
