The training classes at Royal Range in Nashville should be up and running by the spring. The training provided by their head trainer will be top notch. No silly videos or fluff, just good solid foundational training.
-
I have heard the ranges for training should be open by this fall. The retail side of things much earlier.
-
Once their ranges open, Regal Range in Bellevue should have some very good options.
-
As far as I am concerned all guns are always loaded and the guns were in the proper condition for a gun on the hip.

Do him a favor and teach him to shoot long guns left handed. If he ever takes up the shotgun/wing shooting he will thank you. His rifle shooting with aperture sights will also benefit from using his dominate eye and shooting with both eyes open.

In for another year

The place sounds great. The guy they have slated to be the head range guy knows his stuff and will bring a wealth of knowledge.
-
Thank you. It was a great match.

I have Warren Tactical sights on six pistols. They are my favorite. Great blend of speed and accuracy. No dislikes come to mind.

Ares Aegis Enhanced Belt (My New Favorite "Gun-Belt")
DBTN replied to GlockSpock's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I have been wearing an Aegis Enhanced belt for about two weeks now. Very nice belt. It is my new everyday belt. Moved away from the Wilderness belt after about nine years. For those of you in the Nashville are, Lifeview Outdoors is now a stocking dealer for Ares Belts. -
Just one stage or multiple. Any idea on round count.
-
It will be interesting to see the format. I emailed for info and got a response but it was kind of generic. Not sure how up to speed they are on actual three gun as far as commonly established scoring and divisions. Should be fun regardless.

Depends on your shotgun and choke combination pattern. In general, whatever choke allows you to knock down 4-6 inch steel plates from 10-25 yards while using 1145fps 7.5 or 8 shot. In general that is going to be a light modified or modified choke. How close no-shot targets are also factors in to the decision. I use a light modified choke 95% of the time.

Very good shooter. Nice and accurate. I like it.

I sat there last night waiting to place my order for my next fix. Got it. Just have to wait for August now. 3 gun is a powerful drug.

3 gun at MTSC in Manchester starting 1/26/2014
DBTN replied to El Guapo's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Sounds like fun but unless you have some kind of rules pertaining to parking, no one will ever take you serious as a club. -
Simulators of this type are fun and can be beneficial. But it is not firearms training; it is shoot/no shoot discretion training. Even in that regard, it only works well if there is someone there who knows what they are doing and can properly debrief each scenario. Otherwise, it is a big video game that is fun.

Rock Castle 3 Gun Club Match Nov 24th

Who is not going is more like it. It is too close for all the local 1 gun shooters not to go. -
Acog 4x32 vs vortex viper 1 -4 24 optic
DBTN replied to Dustbuster's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
The Vortex is popular. It is a nice scope. Much of its popularity comes from being $1000 less than the Swaro Z6i. Before true 1 power variable scopes became available, the ACOG was very popular. It has quickly become displaced by the 1 power variables. Much like the 1-4 scopes being over taken by the 1-6 scopes. In my experience, I have seen more people up-grade to a quality scope over any other piece of gear. They usually start with an entry level 1-4 power, or even less versatile scope, and usually end up with a 1-6 variable. I haven even seen someone start with the Vortex 1-6 but only sell it to get a Swaro Z6i. Are such high end scopes necessary, not at all. Do they help, most certainly. -
Shot my first idpa style stage today. wow.
DBTN replied to Peace's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Peace. What have you done? What were you thinking? I think I warned you. There is no turning back now. IDPA is like crack. It's addictive. Just wait till you try 3 gun. It's even worse. It's like meth but you get to keep your teeth. -
63rd. About the same as last year. I crashed and burned big time on stage two, was 220th on it. Had I shot it conservatively, I would have placed in the upper 30's. That's the nature of the game. Hade two stages were one bad shot moved me over 50 positions for the stage. It was still fun. I am just ready to go from 30-50 second stages of the Pro Am to the 1-3 minute stages of the Blue Ridge.
-
I love the challenge and the fact that the past two Blue Ridge matches have been my best. Yes, I will be at the match in Dec. Looking forward to it.
-
You need to check out the Blue Ridge next. It is not as festive or big since there is no AM side but it is a great match and my favorite. The Pro Am is like a drag car race. The Blue Ridge is NASCAR.

The fun begins tomorrow. Walked five of the pro stages today and they will be fast and furious. Nothing long range at this match. Max distance is around 340. This match is made for speed. Looked like more vendors this year and the JP side match looks fun.
