Got the +2 mag extension, but can only get one extra bullet in the mag. Gotta find me an inexpensive IWB holster and I'll be set. BTW, pic is up. I'd love to know where people would recommend buying (and NOT buying) aftermarket and extras for Glocks.

I have an OWB Blackhawk. Like everyone else, I'll have SIX holsters before its all said and done. I want to go into the holster business.

Pics coming shortly:cool:. Trigger and angle were very natural for me. I intend it to be a everyday carry piece, thats why I went with the 26 and not the 19

Took the wife to Guns and Leather yesterday. Her first trip. Before we went to the range, I rented a Glock 26 because I'd never shot a Glock before. After emptying several boxes of Walmart's finest ammunition, I came back upstairs to the store and traded my Ruger and some bump for a new Glock. I'm very pleased. Even the wife is happy for me.

Thats a brave brave soul. My wife would have turned and fired until it went *click* and I'd be well ventilated.

Carrying in Clarksville - Nothing is posted.

By the way, Grandpa's IS posted. There is a hand made sign that says "NO CONCEALED WEAPONS ALLOWED BEER SOLD HERE". Now I'm not sure who they get their legal advice from, but that's the sign. -
My carry piece is a Kel Tec PF9 with the belt clip installed on the gun. I wear it IWB with my shirt tucked in, if I feel the need to hide it, I blouse the shirt out an inch or two and it covers the end of the butt that shows above my belt. My wife and I had lunch today at a buffet in Clarksville with about eight LEO's sitting around us and no one noticed I was carrying. I will admit that on hot days, I do sweat on the gun and on more than one occasion, I've had to clean rust off the slide at night. But I have credited that to the fine KT bluing. Heheheeh

I know I've carried there before and I know I have never seen a sign there. Just didn't know if I wasn't looking in the right place or they'd taken it down. But its been months since I'd been there. -

Add the Police Station and the Golden Jukebox to those and that makes seven places in a town of 150,000. The Golden Jukebox is a local redneck bar with a sign on the door in mailbox letters that says "NO GUNS ALLOWED". Not that a sign would stop any of the clientele in that place. Hehehehehe. I'm more a Logan's kinda guy myself. Couldn't say the last time I'd been to Outback. -
Packing heat in AZ to become easier soon The Wild West is about to get wilder - on Thursday, Arizona will join Alaska and Vermont as one of the states with the country's most liberal gun laws. Senate Bill 1108 removes the requirement that gun owners must be trained and licensed to carry a concealed weapon. Arizona already allows for "open carry" - anyone not legally prohibited from possessing a firearm, such as convicted felons or those adjudicated mentally incompetent, can carry firearms in public as long as they are clearly visible. After Thursday, the requirement that weapons be displayed openly will be dropped, and anyone who is not a "prohibited possessor" will be able to carry concealed weapons. The new law will not remove restrictions on places where it is forbidden to carry weapons, including schools, hydroelectric or nuclear power plants, polling places, federal buildings or businesses that have posted specific signs prohibiting weapons. Establishments that serve alcohol will still be "no-carry" zones for those without a concealed-weapons permit, and gun owners will not be allowed to drink alcohol while carrying a weapon. Also, anyone who carries a concealed firearm over the state line will need a concealed-weapons permit to avoid violating other states' handgun laws. Despite the caveats, the new law enhances Arizonans' freedom, said Charles Heller, a radio talk-show host. Heller is a concealed-weapons course instructor and secretary of the Arizona Citizen's Defense League, a group whose efforts are directed at "expanding the rights of law-abiding gun owners." He says the freedom to carry weapons and defend oneself from attackers is at the heart of the law. Once the law takes effect, he said, "Innocent people aren't going to be harassed because their purse got set down on a car seat (and accidentally covered an openly displayed weapon) or their shirttail came out" and covered an openly carried weapon. Heller said the law also removes a barrier to people who might want to carry concealed weapons but don't have the time or money to invest in a training course. Currently, a CCW - carrying a concealed weapon - course costs about $80 plus another $60 to the Department of Public Safety to issue the permit. There are nearly 160,000 active concealed weapons permits in Arizona, DPS statistics show. About 26,000 of them - 16 percent - are held in Pima County. DPS spokesman Bart Graves said the agency expects a decrease in applications for concealed-weapons permits once the law goes into effect. But he, along with many supporters of the new law, said he hopes people who want to carry weapons will still seek out some form of training. Josh Katz, owner of The Armory on Pima, says he supports the new law because it strengthens the Second Amendment. But he urges people to get education and training in the use of their guns and their rights and legal responsibilities as gun owners. "Let me be clear - I'm not opposed," he said. "The law passing is good, but people need to have some of the education involved in training for the license to carry concealed." Local gun owner Dan Demer is licensed to carry a concealed weapon, and said he wouldn't mind more regulations on the process. "I would feel safer if everyone was required to take courses," he said. "Most people that have gone through the classes are conscientious about handling weapons - it's a big responsibility." Part of that responsibility is knowing what the law says about self-defense, Heller said. For example, the threat or use of force is not justified "in response to verbal provocation alone" or "if the person provoked the other's use or attempted use of unlawful physical force" in most cases. The state laws that address the justifications for use of deadly force in Arizona can be found in ARS 13-401 through ARS 13-421 at Arizona Revised Statutes Brian Malte, state legislation director at the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, said easing the prerequisites for carrying concealed weapons is a risky proposition. He's especially concerned about population density. Vermont and Alaska, the other two states that allow concealed weapons without a permit, each has fewer than 700,000 people. Arizona's population is about 6.5 million. "Having loaded guns in crowded situations - on public transit or on crowded streets - is not a good idea," he said. Tucsonan Mark Reinl-Bautista said he fired guns as a child but prefers not to own one now. He said he is concerned about the presence of guns in the community in general. "I don't know if it makes them (people who carry guns) feel safer," he said, "but it doesn't make me feel safer." Contact reporter Clayton R. Norman at cnorman@azstarnet.com or 573-4142.

I've had my HCP and been carrying locally around Clarksville for three months now and other than the police station, I haven't seen a single business that is posted for no firearms. Those of you that travel more than me, can you tell me, is Clarksville not posted as much as other towns? I see all these posts about different restaurants and businesses with signs, but I never see them in Clarksville.

I OWNED A SCCY CPX-1!!!!! Notice my declaration is in PAST tense. I purchased the CPX-1 new from a pawn shop.I bought it specifically because it was cheap. I took it home, oiled it lightly, loaded the magazine and started plinking away in the back yard. The gun was snappy, a little more recoil than I was used to, but it is a sub compact 9mm, so snappy, but not so you can't hold it. On the third magazine of WWB FMJ ammo, I fired two shots out of a 10 shot mag and when i pulled the trigger the third time, all I got was *click*. At this point the trigger was free swinging with no resistance whatsoever. Something inside the gun broke after firing 22 rounds. I could turn the gun upside down and give it a little shake and whatever broke would fall back into place and the trigger again had resistance, but if you turned it right side up, you could hear the piece fall back into the handle of the gun. I emailed SCCY telling the above story and they almost immediately emailed me back with a Fed Ex shipping label and the instruction to send them the gun, they'd fix it free of charge. I asked how long they'd have it and the terse response I got back was along the lines of "as long as we need to". Given the fact that I'd owned the gun a grand total of FOUR hours before it broke, I went back to the pawn shop and long story short, they eventually gave me my money back. I took that money, put another $100 with it and purchased a KelTec PF9. I'm VERY happy with the KelTec and can recommend it to anyone who is looking for a dependable bargain gun. It ain't pretty and it will make your hand numb when you first shoot it, but it will feed anything and goes BOOM when you pull the stick. Thats something the SCCY wouldn't do.

I was gonna recommend WD-40 and a toothbrush.

Why would this be?

Thanks for the info. MOST appreciated. Now I just need to buy the Mossy. hehehe
-
AH HA! I got it. Thanks. Thats what I hoped someone was gonna say. Paper plates at 100 yards is interesting, but I"m more interested in having the option of ventilating the door or not.

Ok, I've searched the forum and got WAY too many results, so I'll ask the question and someone can answer me, or point me in the right direction. Or in a pinch, make fun of me and call me names, but please don't throw things. Can you shoot slugs and shot through the same barrel on a shotgun? I see people mentioning "slug barrels" in threads, but is it necessary to have a special barrel for a slug? If I buy a shotty for HD, could I load buck, bird or slugs and shoot thru the same barrel? Lets assume one of the super cool Mossberg 500, 12 gauge, 18.5 inch barrels, pistol grip, door buster barrel end, etc. Could I shoot slugs thru this, then reload and shoot buck or bird shot? Or am I going to cause the Mossy to blow up in my face by shooting a slug through a regular barrel?

P95 slide won't lock open after last shot is fired
walton6467 replied to walton6467's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Ok, it looks like the spring in the magazine isn't pushing up hard enough to engage the slide lock. I DO have Ruger factory mags, but I do keep them loaded with ammo all the time, I suppose the springs are somewhat worn or weakened. I'll pick up another mag and see if it makes a diff. Otherwise, I'll replace the slide lock. Thanks again Rightwinger. -

I have 3 Ruger magazines and it seems to happen with all of them. -
While slightly off topic, please explain "low bore axis" versus "high bore axis", these are new terms for me.

More like the LCP. Kinda stings until you get used to it. squeeze a stress ball a few days, build a little new muscle in your hand, its all good.

Inside waistband holsters seem very popular, but I don't like them, maybe my pants are too tight. I prefer outside the waistband Fobus holsters and long shirts.
