  1. The other thing to consider, is whether the local LEO's are going to support the business or the gun owner if called. If you carry into a store that has a tiny, inconspicuious sign and the law is called, will the officer back the gun owner because the sign is out of spec or will they back the business and charge you for carrying in a posted location, ruining your outting on many levels and forcing you to go to court even if its a bogus charge? I'm not running a risk. If I'm carrying, my head isn't in the clouds and I take the time and effort to survey the entire entrance area. I've been known to leave a business if I am inside when I see any version of a gun buster. I once pointed out to the manager of O'Charley's that his "no weapons" notice posted in the bar was not legal according to the wording of the law and his response was "I'll bet the cops would arrest someone on the basis of that old sign" and they probably would. I might win when it finally gets to court, but I'm going to avoid that at all costs. I'm not risking an arrest, even on a bogus charge. I'll just avoid those locations.
  2. I was in Tennessee Gun Country in Clarksville today and they had a used Glock 17, Generation 3 for $400. Despite everything I tried, it followed me home, and ate a whole box of Remington FMJ in the backyard. Great shooter, great price. Very pleased. TN Gun Country has a bunch of used guns at great prices. As has been mentioned before, they are selling "estate" guns. There were some really good prices on lots of different things. I highly recommend you check them out. Their prices are certainly better than the ones I saw at the Bill Goodman show in Nashville Saturday.
  3. I'm one of the casual concealers. I keep my shirt untucked pulled over the butt of the gun, but I'm not "hiding" or "concealing" anything. Any observant individual would know I was carrying. However its my opinion that the general public just doesn't pay attention. The only time anyone has ever said anything about me carrying was the cop in line for coffee with me one morning. No one else that day or any other day paid any attention.
  4. My class taught me the phrase "Officer, I have a hand gun permit and I am armed." That said, you sit very still with hands on wheel until directed otherwise. I've been stopped once and it worked like a charm.
  5. I don't understand. Where was the beer? Aren't you supposed to drink beer when you play with guns you don't know anything about?
  6. License? Its on the bumper. Oh registration? Here, hold my beer and my gun and I'll get it.

    Walther P22

I love mine, however like previous poster, it is picky on ammo. Walmart bulk box ammo will jam all the time. I've also had a problem that the damn replaceable front site keeps falling off the gun. S&W/Walther was very good about sending me an envelope full of front sites for the gun however. Otherwise it is much fun.
  8. If it falls, I let it hit the ground. Thats why I carry a Glock, a ding won't make it any uglier. Knock on wood I've never dropped a handgun, but law of averages states I probably will. Thats why I don't carry a pretty $1000+ Kimber, I would be sick to death of a goober ding on one of those.
  9. I regularly OC in my neighborhood. Primarily so my neighbors will know to call before they come by my house. Hehehehehe Around town and most def out of town I conceal. Just more comfy for me that way. No reason to attract attention sometimes.
  10. I did some searching and found this place. Never used them, but the prices aren't bad. They even have Kydex in camo and PINK of all things. KnifeKits.com Designer Knife Kits - Knife Making Supplies - Sheath and Holster Making Supplies
  11. Ok, I've got a Walther P22 and the front site keeps falling off the gun. At the recommendation of a local gun shop, I called Walther customer service, rather than buy new sites. After about a 10 minute wait on hold, I got someone on the phone and explained the problem to him. After I finished telling my tale, I get about 15 seconds of silence, then a deep sigh and the CSR says "let me see if we have any laying around". A few more minutes wait and he comes back on and says "I'll drop you a couple in the mail, whats your address". I'm grateful they are sending me the sites, but I'm not 100% I'm actually going to receive anything. It just wasn't very professional. Does anyone have any experience with the Walther customer service?
  12. Remember, NONE of these people are trained survivalists. And at the beginning of the show, no one is aware this is widespread. They all think the "authorities" are going to show up to restore order at any minute. None of these people wants to admit that society is GONE.
  13. My first handgun was a P-95. Will always have a spot in my heart for that model.
  14. The Walton plantation is in between Claw Hammer and Indian Creek. That wasn't one of the options on the survey.
  15. Yup. Other than ugly, I think my Glock was perfect outta the box.
  16. I have to say that as a resident of Clarksville, I'm VERY proud of the police department here. They have never failed to act in a professional, polite manner, no matter the circumstance. And bless their hearts, with the University and the Army base here, they have their hands full at times.
  17. I've actually owned three guns on this list, (shows what my budget allows). The SCCY broke after firing two mags of ammo. The Ruger was a great gun for a beginner hand gun owner. I traded it for my first Glock and got almost my full purchase price on the trade. My KelTec PF9 is a great carry piece, disappears under most any clothes, goes bang at the right time and will hit the target until it makes your hand numb. I Duracoated my PF9 and I"m convinced it will last for years now.
  18. Don't want to be a Sheepdog. Don't have the inclination to be a wolf. I'm not gonna hurt anyone and the only one I want to protect is me and mine. Most of the sheep are on their own.
  19. I've carried a PF-9 for months. I agree with other posters, its not a range gun, but its easy to hide in your clothing. Small lightweight, no external hammer or external safety switch. VERY long DAO trigger, never had a misfeed, pull the switch and it goes bang every time. I added the optional belt clip and can carry IWB without a holster and it completely disappears. The worst thing I can say about the PF-9 is the finish. I had so much trouble with the slide rusting from being against my skin, I had the slide duracoated. Best move I ever made.
  20. Tenn. appeals court rules against person who left keys in car | theleafchronicle.com | The Leaf Chronicle+ NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee appeals court has ruled that a person can be held responsible for a car thief's crash if the keys were left in the vehicle. The Tennessee Court of Appeals ruled this week in a case involving a stolen car, a police chase and a wreck in Murfreesboro in May 2007. The Court of Appeals upheld a lower court's decision to dismiss a lawsuit against the city of Murfreesboro and its police department over a wreck that involved a fleeing stolen vehicle that crashed with a car carrying three people. But the higher court reversed a decision by the circuit court of Rutherford County and said the suit against a man who left the keys in the car before it was stolen should continue. The amount of damages sought by those hurt in the crash was not listed. The extent of their injuries also was not included in the appeals court ruling. Plaintiffs were Sandra Newman and her family, who were in the car hit by an unknown motorist who had stolen the vehicle. They claimed negligence against Rubye Jarrell, who had the car registered; her grandson Joseph D. Ash Jr., who had left keys in the car, and the unknown driver of the other car, listed as John Doe in the suit. The suit alleged negligence on the part of the Murfreesboro Police Department for pursuing the stolen car prior to the accident May 18, 2007. The appeals court said it did not matter whether the keys were left in the ignition or the front seat or on the dash board in plain view. Further, the judges said the car was stolen in what appeared to be a high crime area.
  21. Nerves of steel and ginormous brass cohones.
  22. I carry a PF-9 every day. This gun has never failed to feed and everytime I've ever pulled the switch, it goes bang and isn't tough to hold on target with a little practice. On the downside, the Keltec bluing is crap, the slide rusted so badly, that I had the gun duracoated. Its got a pretty healthy kick, after a mag or two at the range my hand is numb. And lilke a previous poster said that DAO trigger feels a mile long. It does take some getting used to, but I do like the little gun for what it is and for what I invested.
  23. Around Clarksville its all called "550 cord". As in will withstand 550 pounds of stress. None of it is actually labeled "parachute cord".
