  1. Thanks for the encouraging words.
  2. I've sent a pistol back to Taurus to take advantage of their lifetime warranty and the wait is killing me. This is the first time I've ever done this. I talked to the Taurus CS rep before sending the gun and I've received a call and a letter confirming they received the gun. Since then, nothing and its been two weeks. Has anyone else used the Taurus repair warranty and how long did it take to get your heater back?
  3. I"ve been in Clarksville Guns and Archery and I like the place. One of the friendlier gun shops I've been in. They offer layaway and financing. They have as good a selection of new and used as anyone in town. Helpful, friendly and they seem genuinely glad to see you when you walk in.
  4. I had a PF-9 that I carried for a year, until it developed a problem with the mag release. Everytime I fired it, the magazine fell out. I traded it. Given the price, I was happy with it while I had it. It was a cheap gun with a sorry finish (I ruined several shirts because of rust stains where they touched the gun while carrying it IWB). It will be something to get you by until you can save your nickels.
  5. Thats the problem I was having.
  6. I will try it again. I didn't complete the thread because when I finished the poll it all disappeared, so I stopped. I will try again sometime. JW
  7. I was going to add a poll in the General section
  8. I was trying to start a poll and I used the "manage topic poll" function, typed out my questions and the multiple choice answers, clicked finish and it all disappeared. What did I do wrong? JW
  9. We have a new gun shop in Clarksville: Clarksville Guns and Archery 1690 Golf Club Lane Clarksville, TN 37043 931-802-8912
  10. Depends on how I'm dressed. In dress clothes/suit, I carry a S&W Bodyguard 380 in my front pocket in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster. In jeans and untucked shirt, I'm carrying a Glock 26 in a Don Hume JIT slide.
  11. Based on our lifestyles and such, we are all different. However, I have a pile of holsters that I bought and tried and threw in a corner. I have been carrying about two years and I do check my clothing and cover on a regular basis. Personally, I wouldn't bother with an extra mag, I feel like that in a situation of actually having to pull my weapon, one shot, if any, would be all required to end the situation. And yes, I tend to dress differently than I do when I'm not carrying. Carry is different for guys of different sizes, for sure. However, personal preference is more important.
  12. I owned one for four hours before the trigger broke off while I was shooting the second magazine of ammo. Be warned.
  13. Holy Smokes! I'd have needed new pants too.
  14. I'm learning about steel as well. Actually I thought stainless was hard to sharpen, but once sharpened, will hold an edge well. I have a stainless steel Kershaw and I've had a heck of a time getting it to take an edge.
  15. First off, my wife names EVERYTHING. Her car is Little Red, my truck is Big Red, etc. I put a slide end cover on my glock that has a stylized skull from the comic book The Punisher. Therefore, my wife starts calling my Glock 26 "Punisher". Its stuck. Me and the kids all call this gun Punisher now.
  16. I think this guy knows my brother-in-law. Bah-hahahahaha
  17. Wow, just wow! I can't imagine the level of stupidity that was in the air while all this was going on.
  18. I think I need something from Home Depot. I'll be back later.
  19. Only a partial highjack of the thread, but I went shooting with some friends this weekend and shot several different weapons, among them, a well used Kimber Officer size pistol. It was the first time I'd shot a 1911 and I enjoyed it immensely. The Kimber is a great shooter and a different experience from shooting a Glock. I enjoyed them both, just like a hungry man would enjoy beef and pork. Can't and won't say one is better than the other, and I stick with my original assertation that in THIS circumstance presented by the OP, I'd choose Glock, but I have to say I truly enjoyed shooting that Kimber.
  20. Great minds think alike. I just hit the BUY button and was coming here to tell everyone about the bargain knives. I love WOOT.
  21. I like 9mm because its cheap, easy to find and there is a good variety of range ammo and carry/defense ammo. That said, I've owned the 17, 19 and the 26. I felt the 17 was too big for my hands, just wasn't comfy with the size, although it was a GREAT range gun, I could counter sink nails with it, I was just never comfy wiht the size. I LOVE the size and feel of the 19. It performs great at the range, good weight, good size, my kinda gun. I like my 26. Due to its reduced size, its my primary carry piece. Not as accurate as the 19 or 17 and the short grip takes some getting used to. Pinky extensions on the magazine help. But the 26 disappears under an un-tucked dress shirt and a Don Hume leather JIT holster.
  22. Having a $2 just means you bought a ticket for the Bill Goodman Gun Show. The ticket booth gives you change for your $8 ticket with a $2.
