  1. Here are some of my latest projects that I've got done. I've been experimenting with color mixing to get some of what you see here. This is a GA Precision AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmoor that was done in a 2-tone flat dark earth and darkened flat dark earth. I later went back and made the dust cover match the rest of the rifle and didn't think to take any more pictures. Next up is my Remington 870 with the Talo stock set on it. I've been wanting to match one of the colors in the digital pattern for a while now and just got the time finally. I went with the lightest color on the stock set to match. I may redo it in one of the darker colors, it was a mix of coyote tan and desert verde (this one is more green than tan, I like it). I will be refinishing the mag tube in black as well, for now it is the factory finish. Here is the before and after. Before After Lastly, this Springer came to me after having been all over the US getting work done to it, it's been dimpled by a guy out west and hand fitted by another individual. It was originally all semi-polished stainless and it left me in a graphite black, still shoots smooth and true. Also I'm planning on making a photo box for future projects, and I'm experimenting with some "flair" in the pictures with it. Also if I have any other future projects I'll probably just add them to this, and as a teaser I've currently got a Howa 1500 in 300BO that is getting it's new skin right now, this one is a project though. Enjoy, Chris
  2. I'm taking classes right now, 5 hours a day 5 days a week. I already did a 6 month stint learning it, doing a refresh 6 years later. It's not that hard to read and understand the squiggles. Language is already mandatory in high school, at least it was at the high school I went to.
  3. I was a plumber for about 3 years, I did commercial and residential. With both I did rough-ins, finish work as well as service. I had been going to work with dad on the weekends from the time I was 9 until I started at 16. For my Uncle's company, I have seen him quote $2500 for doing all the plumbing in a Great Clips, that's removing all existing plumbing, installing all new fixtures, running all the pipes (copper at the time), and all sewer lines. I think $3500 is way out there. At the company my dad works for, we charged $110 for the first hour, $85 for every hour after that plus parts for service calls. That wasn't too terrible for people, we only did service on homes we were contracted to build and this was in Cincinnati, OH.
  4. I enjoyed shooting this Craig, I just have to remember not to put my sausages in the way of the toggle when closing. My trigger finger wasn't too happy with me. It was a great shooting rifle and held some extremely tight groups with the suppressor from the off-hand position....then again it was me shooting it.
  5. I've had several traded to me for work done or money owed, some of these include 4x Ruger 10/22's, Phoenix Arms HP22, Star BM, Rossi M88 & M972. As far as what I've paid for... FIE Little Ranger, bought for $60, refinished for free, worth about $80 or so... Sig P226, bought for $175 and a Surefire weapon light, in great condition. Enfield No 2 Mark 4, bought for $135, serial places it in late 1942, still had packing grease under the action Heritage Rough Rider .22lr, bought for $150 new Blued Colt Python 4", bought for $700, serial places it from 1980 I've traded _____________ for __________ A laser for a Ruger Super Blackhawk and a Puma M92 both in .454/.45lc, I think I came out on top An older EOTech for a Remington 870, about even I think my collection is pretty well rounded and I've gotten some pretty good deals.
  6. 1. Ruger / Colt 2. Sig 3. Beretta / Springfield 4. RIA 5. Uberti 6. Walther 7. Heritage 8. Rossi 9. Star 10. Davis / Phoenix / F.I.E. 11. Charter Arms ***Forgot a couple***
  7. It does, at least it shoots as well I can shoot it. I had a the chance to handle a Springfield Operator, it wasn't a loaded with a full rail, but it made my RIA feel like a HiPoint. I think if I run across a Springfield Operator Loaded with a full rail I'll be thinking real hard about making my wife mad again.
  8. RIA calls it their 2011 tactical single stack series. I think this is the link you need to get to it, they do have a double stack version also: http://www.armscorus...&id=9&Itemid=20
  9. I get made fun of because of the workout music I listen to. It's usually a compilation of Hank Sr, Jr and III, Waylon, Willie, Jerry Reed and a little southern rock. I enjoy it, it's not the most fast paced music out there, but then again it's what I listen to all the time.
  10. Can't go wrong with a good set of metal Troy or Yankee Hill Machine sights. I prefer the metal sights over the plastic magpul sights, to each their own.
  11. I'm finally to the point on the outside of this 1911 where I'm done. I still have a Cylinder & Slide sear and disconnector to put in. The trigger is a nice, crisp 5.5lbs, but I'd like it better around 3.5lbs. Eventually I'd like to throw in either a Barsto or Kart barrel, this one shoots fine for now though. There are some other fitting things that will get knocked out as time passes as well. Here is what I'm working with: RIA 1911 Tactical 2011 Factory grip & thumb safety Wilson Combat oversized magazine release Raasco Dymondwood grips Wilson Combat extended slide stop Novak Extreme Duty night sights EFK Firedragon compensated bushing Smith & Alexander mainspring housing magazine well Chip McCormick 10 round magazine Here's what I've done: Fitted mag well and compensated bushing polished the following: trigger, hammer, magazine release, slide stop, thumb safety, compensator, slide, screws, mainspring housing pin Backfilled the sight's dovetails and contoured them to the slide Cerakoted frame, mag well/mainspring housing, grip safety, compensator and slide in Graphite Black Removed the RIA engraving from slide Final product:
  12. I currently drive 50 minutes one way to work, leaving work is another story...it takes on average a hour and 20 minutes to get back to my house. I've looked into moving closer, but the traffic isn't any better no matter what part of town I live in. Try looking for a closer house that still fits all the needs your current house provides.
  13. Sorry to disappoint. There are some things that even I would question.
  14. Stopped by TN Gun Country and they said that where the classes are held is behind their building. Tailored Defense is not associated with TN Gun Country.
  15. The shop on Salem Rd....is it this? http://www.tailoredd...om/indoor_range ... if so, that's new to me. ***This place is apparently associated with TN Gun Country. The address for their classes at Tailored Defense is the same at TN Gun Country.
  16. Try your hand at hollow points. Mine damn near refused to shoot them. I accidentally bought some target hollow points at wally world and didn't realize it until I got to Guns & Leather. I should have just bought some ball ammo there, but I was already frustrated.
  17. So I've had a certain level of frustration lately and it all stems from the color Pink...that and it's been pretty hot this weekend. Anyhow the pictures will speak for themselves and there are a couple before/after shots. Enjoy... Sig P238 Before: Sig P238 After: Ruger LC9 Talo: Glock 26: Now a little something for the guys again... AK-47 Before: AK-47 After Shots (the AK is fully functioning, the buttstock is just open to show it off): These were a bit out there, but not as bad as the highlighter green revolver. Sorry for the pictures being all over the place...photobucket has them all going the right way....don't know where the disconnect it.........EDIT AGAIN...The pictures appear to be in the correct orientation now.
  18. I have the same pistol, I put the night sights on it and made some other alterations. It's an awesome pistol, I couldn't be happier with it and it beats the price of a Springfield Operator any day.
  19. Yea those are the places. I haven't been to Tiny Town yet, but the guys at Golf Club seem pretty eager to help, it just took them a bit to get some guns after they opened.
  20. quietguy, sorry, checked this just after getting the classified together. PM replied to. Chrome one is in the classifieds now.
  21. Well it looks like I lost the battle, after enduring Opry Mills Mall, The Book Attic, Bed Bath & Beyond and REI...well REI wasn't that bad, but still that's a lot of shopping that didn't really interest me in any way. It's sad and I hate to do it, but Willis you have a PM. I'll still be enjoying the blued Python and.........shhhhh, don't tell my wife, but I may have a line on an Anaconda, I can only hope.
  22. When I do go to the range, I let the people I hang out with know the day and time I plan on leaving. I tell them if you would like to come call before I leave. The only person who is good for the range is my Dad. I've got friends that have guns and I've never seen them shoot them in the 6+ years I've known them. I tell them to sell me their guns so they will get the appropriate attention they need. One day though, I'll get them to go shooting, maybe they are intimidated...who knows. I would just throw out the date, time and location you are going and tell them to meet you there if they are interested, I wouldn't depend on them going.
  23. If she wants lessons on technique, I'm a pretty good teacher. I'll just tell me wife I'm giving classes. Back to guns now, I think if she was also making some 800-1000 meter shots with a nice bolt action would be even more scary to the sheeple. And she can suppress it and make some 500-600 meter shots, that'd make some people think a little.
  24. I got a hobby that pays for my habit. I was getting firearms in trade for services as well as sinking in the cash profit into the rest. It's good to have a hobby that supports a habit, I don't drink or smoke so I have to spend my money on something, so I chose guns and bullets. ***Edit*** They feel smooth, I haven't tried to dry fire them and I don't have any snap caps for it but once I'm not working I will be shooting these. Maybe between projects this weekend I can make it across the street from the shop to squeeze off a few rounds.
  25. Here are the markings that are unusual to me...
