  1. Better than my wife's wish list. She wanted a Gold Desert Eagle for a while, but she's happy for now laying claim to my Sig P226. Nice choice on her part. SA revolvers are all that I have and I couldn't be happier with them.
  2. Haha, these are the after...nice try at a ding though. As I said in the original post, what I recieved was a rusty frame in the white and a slide that was 2 different shades of blueing and a ziplock back of small parts.
  3. I've narrowed down my Surefire stock to a X300 and now the L75. Dad ended up with 2 my my Millennium weaponlights and I've sold 2 of them and I've lost 3 of the Z2 lights. I've used the M910 series before, just seemed kind of bulky and I had to go back to a KA foregrip, now a Magpul AFG, and a X300 or M3X.
  4. I was talking about this little guy: Surefire L75 Infrared Laser Sight And you will have to let me know how you like the single 123 battery, I'm old school I guess, all my EOTechs still run on AA's.
  5. What you need is my Surefire IR laser that I've got sitting around. It's got a nice picatinny rail mount and a pressure switch. I'll even throw in a Tangodown dark earth foregrip or a KA black foregrip. The rifle looks good though, I need to get out and shoot mine it's only been about 4 months since I shot it last.
  6. My friend handed me his 1911 project to refinish it. It wasn't in the best of condition, the frame had some rust on it, the slide had standard blade sights and the finish on it looked like it had been blued and then someone did a DIY blueing to repair it. He picked the colors, not my choice but I think it turned out very well. It's a Caspian frame and a Colt slide, and I know nothing about the guts of it. On to the finish since that's my doing; the slide and all small parts were done in a custom mix of Graphite Black and Blue Titanium, the frame was done in Blue Titanium and the barrel, barrel bushing and operating rod were left alone. Here are some pictures, the close up is my attempt at getting a contrast shot. Here's the pictures, enjoy. It does have a serial number, it's been masked. EDIT: for Graycrait, It's all Cerakote. And yes I sand blast the old finish off. I like a clean unflawed surface or a fresh parkerized job only. I don't like the idea of any flaws between what I do and what someone else has done.
  7. I've got the funds...just not the permission from the boss. I've already bought my limit on guns for this year according to her...5 is too many according to her. But then again she won't have to know...I'll call it "Charity Work".
  8. I can't even begin to tell you how many poles of mine that my Grandfather lost. In highschool he and I used to go to pay lakes in and around Cincinnati and enter the carp and catfish competitions (biggest fish of the hour, biggest fish of the night, biggest fish of the week). There were numerous surf rods that he forgot to set the drag on before putting them in the PVC pipes I used for rod holders. Good on her though managing to get 2 before losing the pole, I guess third time is the charm for the fish...but now he's dragging around a fishing pole. I can't wait for my daughter to get old enough to go fishing and shooting.
  9. See that's the other way around for me. Dad came to visit this weekend and dropped off a few 22lr Rifles for me to take to GunTroll for work and went home with my Cattleman .45LC, Little Ranger .22lr, Ultra Compact V-10 .45acp and he tried to give back the .30 cal carbine Blackhawk but got to keep that anyhow. I would say keep them both, I know if my dad gave me a gun it would never leave my hands, and the few he has you'll never see for sale.
  10. It is, says "The worst gun review ever done on Youtube" at the beginning and "Can you count how many incorrect gun references I made?" at the end.
  11. We should find that guy and invite him to a TGO shoot so we can all learn what mistakes we're actually making with all our weapons.
  12. I used to be the same way until my COD BO crapped out on me. It won't let me on the regular multiplayer mode anymore but I can play zombie mode online. I'm thinking of getting HF as a replacement since I can't figure out my COD BO.
  13. It's missing something though....a bayonet (Example: On the Water - English Coach Gun)
  14. That's awesome...now when does something like that happen around here. I've got some change burning a hole in my pocket and could go for some cheap used guns.
  15. Makes me want to get another Stoeger Coach...I'll be on the look out now.
  16. I saw one at Guns and Leather about 2 months ago (Ruger Blackhawk .30 Cal Carbine 7.5" Barrel) for $350 or so, used. I almost bought it out of principle, but my wife said no since I already had one.
  17. I've tried to run the same ammo out of my .30 cal Blackhawk and I ran into the same problem...that box of ammo is still sitting on my work bench. I've figured it to be the expansion of the steel casings, that or the finish on them. Either way I'm going to be spending the extra little bit for the brass cased ammo from now on. G&L when in stock carries some for right around $23 a box of 50 if I'm not mistaken. I usually get it from them since it's one of the few places I've found that keeps a decent stock of it.
  18. Very nice, I'm envious.
  19. My wife never was a fan of any other color than black or stainless. I've tried to spice up some of my personal ones but they always end up black again. I've showed here a few pink guns and some with a nice pearl coat on them and still not a fan. More power to ya though KCC, hopefully you don't waste too much on stocking those colors since Cerakote isn't cheap. You should try your hand a mixing some of the titanium's into other colors and see what you get. I did a 3 parts graphite black to 1.5 parts blue titanium and it turned out pretty good. The titaniums give the predominant color a nice metalic flake look to it, it does take some trial and error though.
  20. If you are using it for HD purposes only then a simple point of aim/point of impact would work best at the desired distance. You could go with the 25/300 meter zero which is the standard military zero or you could go with a 50/200 meter zero which I like to use. Using a standard M4 zero target you should be able to achieve the zero at either 3 ways. All you are going to have to do is figure out the grid method and how many clicks it will take to move the EOTech dot to the desired location. Or you could go the cheap way and color some 1" black squares on a piece of paper and put your dot directly on them and get the impact zone on the lower half of the square. That's the cheap method and how I usually do mine since my wife yells at me when I "waste ink" printing off targets. You could also get in contact with the nice folks at Mid-south Institute of Self-defense Shooting ( - MidSouth Institute of Self Defense Shooting - Weapons Training, Firearms Training, Pistol, Shotgun, Carbine ) and they have some awesome zero targets that you can buy from them. Once I get home I'll be able to mail you a bunch of printable zero targets for various platforms. I'll have to check my cd's and I may have one for the SCAR, I know I have an armorers presentation on disassembly/reassembly for the SCAR. I'll see what I have this weekend for you.
  21. I would have had to guess you found it when you were mowing your grass. None the less, as long as she runs smooth good on ya. I'm helping a friend rebuild a Colt on a Fosters frame from parts that have found him as well. I'll have to post pictures of it when we get done, or and he chose the finish...not me. It'll be a custom mixed Black and Blue Titanium slide (3 parts black to 1.5 parts Blue Titanium) and small parts and just Blue Titanium frame. I just need to get back in town first. Oh and if you ever need another original GI spec rear sight let me know there's one sitting on my work bench.
  22. Should have looked at a pair of Native Hardtops. I use a pair mountain biking and they have a nice close fit, come with 2 sets of lenses (Polarized Grey and Sportflex(good for low light conditions)). And if you can get an account with www.3point5.com or www.promotive.com you could pick them up for about 50% off, give or take a little.
  23. That has got to be close to double digit pricing per round. I get mad when I can't find .45LC for less than 50 cents a round or my .303 Brit for less than 1$ a round. Guess that's where reloading would come in handy. Edit: Found a single round for sale, loaded for the low low price of $49.95. Ammo For Sale : For Collecting - One Cartridge 577 Tyrannosaur, Loaded, (S-31) - Auction: 8524979 (Ended 03/13/2010, 17:35:02 PST)
  24. I've got a Wilson Tactical Auto Knife that I usually carry at work, the spring in it had since broken. I contacted Wilson Tactical a few months back to get it fixed and I had to pay shipping both ways and an additional 10$ to get it repaired. My question is, is anyone familiar with repairing these types of knives and is it something I could do. I was just looking at knifekits.com at the springs and tools. I'm fairly mechanically inclined and have a way of figuring things out, so I'm not afraid to tackle this on my own. I don't have the knife in front of me and I haven't taken it apart yet either so I don't know the size of the spring I'm looking for. Can anyone assist me in a repair or let me know it's not going to be bad. All I can imagine is all kinds of little springs all over the place and other small stuff for me to lose. For those who need a visual, this is what it is minus the serrations: Wilson Tactical Combat Elite RR Auto Drop Point BK/SBT
  25. I was thinking that he could have used his backdrop to buy a third...that's what I would have done if I had money laying around. That is if my wife didn't snatch it up before I could.
