Agreed, although I've never given my opinion to any media outlet and never will, how will our voice be heard? I'm glad to see it's at least in the "opinion" section because there was a lot of thoughts wrote down, but I saw no facts or sources quoted in reference to anything he was saying. May I please have my 2 minutes returned for reading mindlessness?

Looks like this one, Shotgun Sling 15-Round Shell Holder Nylon Black or this one, Shotgun Shellholder Sling to me.

Looking for a Reliable gunsmith in the Memphis area.
gunrunner32 replied to a topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
You can get ahold of D&T Arms here in Nashville, they have a 1911 smith offsite. All his guns in the shop are extremely smooth and feel great. -
Deacon makes some great stuff. I used their metal filler to fill the engravings (minus the SN) on a Glock slide and I plan to use it on some other projects. The metal filler is a little expensive just for a small can of the goo, and it's a two-part, learned real quick to only mix as needed. I also don't think the metal filler can be stippled, it can however be sanded.

My wife learned to shoot on an XD45. I took her to the range on one of our first dates 5 years ago. Had to see how she took to it. She loved it and has since assumed control of my Sig P226 and P6 because of the ease of use and smooth trigger pulls. The only handgun I have she won't shoot is my .454 Casull and I have a few rifles she won't touch anymore. My wife is only 5'1", so I don't see why any woman despite stature can't get comfortable shooting larger calibers. I say pick one you like and go with it. My wife's other favorite rnge gun is my single action army .30 cal, she likes all the noise and minimum recoil. She says it's louder than my .454 without all the kick.

Welcome from Clarksville as well and to the site.

My wife being the genius she is tried to shoot my AR right handed for the first time and I didn't think nothing of it until she started trying to use her left eye to aim with...while shooting right handed. I have a friend at with who as the same issue. It's much easier for him to shoot rifles left handed and pistols with either hand, mainly sticks with the right. I can't really shoot using my left eye thanks to a bad astigmatism, so I've never really been able to see what the difference is. Either way, at the end of the it's about her comfort level when shooting. She likes pistols right handed and rifles left handed. I want her to like shooting because most of my other recreational activities she doesn't like to join in on.

Any camo dipping companies in Tn?
gunrunner32 replied to 221 Fireball's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Do a google search for "Tennessee Hydrographics" or sub in "Nashville". I didn't see anything right away for Nashville but there is a place in Waynesboro, TN called TN Valley Hydrographics and another in Rogersville, TN called Brothers Hydrographics. That was just a quick search and there were some other forums listed where it looks like people game their review of the companies. -
Patrick Sweeney writes some very informative books and Gun Digest puts them out. Aside from the small grammatical errors and spelling mistakes they are great. I've ready gunsmithing the pistol and revolver, gunsmithing the AR-15, gunsmithing rifles all by Partick Sweeney and most recently finished Customizing the Ruger 10/22 by James E. House. Here is Patrick Sweeneys book on the Glock: http://www.amazon.com/Gun-Digest-Book-Glock/dp/0873495586

Well after reading the rule book in the provided link above, I need to do a few things to prepare. I'm going to need a new holster, all my set-ups are for tactical military type shooting. Going to need some magazine holsters for a P226, along with a few extra magazines. I need to do some measuring and weighing of my P226. The oprod in it is made of the same material as the factory, just has a buffer in it, I'm figuring I'll need to put back in the factory one for this. Are Sig Nil grips considered weighted? I have larger hands, so most of the pistols I shoot I put larger grips on. I looking forward to getting out to my first match, even though it won't be until around the middle of March that I'll have the time to ge to one. If anyone shoots a Sig for this style of competition and has any equipment suggestions I'd appreciate it. I hope the upcoming match is a success and I'll be seeing everyone around March.

Read your rules and equipment list, I have one question what type of holster is generally used? I've grown accustomed to the Serpa holster, been carrying a Glock 19 in one for some time now. Also I have a question about pistol mods, I don't have anything crazy, no race guns or anything. I would be using a Sig P226 that has had some trigger work, night sights, Springco reduced recoil oprod, outside that it's factory. Is this gtg or would I need to put it back to factory condition? I will be looking to participate when work allows me the time to. Any other suggestions on equipment would be beneficial as well. I'll have to get with you, CatsEye, being as I live in the Sango area of town.

I'd like to keep it under the 200$ range, I've checked out some Nikons on Cabelas, they seemed to get good reviews on other sites as well. I haven't checked out and Redfield scopes yet, I've also thought about checking out Millet scopes. Well I did a thorough search on RFC for ambi stocks, I like the design of the T-Rex stock, but doesn't come in the color choices that you appease my wife. The Vantage stock unfortunately doesn't come in the color I'm looking for either. Great stocks though for the rifle I'll make for myself, but I'm a little easier to please than my wife. Edit*** Nevermind on the Millet scopes, even if one were a rimfire scope I could only assume it would be out of m price range.

I like what the folks at Richards product, maybe I'll have to throw one of the on "dad's" build. A nice grade A walnut Monte Carlo stock with a stainless action and barrel would look good. For my wife's it looms like I'm going to go with the Boyd's SS Evolution since it's only $100 and the Nutmeg color will look pretty good and fit her wants with my needs. I've spent roughly the last hour going through stock sites that have Ruger 10/22 stocks. The best looking stocks that I came across AR the Tomahawk Apache stocks, that Turkish Walnut is amazing looking, but at 1200 for the wood and another 200 or so for the work, I think I'll have to pass. Sillnthough if you haven't seen it check it out: www.luxusguntock.com As for the lefty thing goes, my wife is left eye dominant so I've been working n her to shoot rifles left handed. I shoot everything right handed, I'm just looking for ambidextrous stock options for her so she is comfortable shooting it, it still has the target styling I'm going for on these 10/22s and with it being an ambi, I can shoot it no problem as well. Requirements are as follows; walnut/like hardwood or a brown on brown laminate, accommodate a bull barrel and be ambidextrous. The only ones that I have found are either over 200$ or they don't come in the color choice listed above. Since I have 3 more to build out, I want to keep the cost relatively low where I can. I don't skimp on the barrel or the bolt and trigger upgrades so the stock and scope are where I make due with something a little less expensive.

Woman Held Teen At Gunpoint After ‘Ring And Run’ Prank
gunrunner32 replied to mcurrier's topic in General Chat
In my house growing up both my parents were fairly strict. They didn't want me turning out like one of "the bad kids" in the neighborhood. I knew what I did would have consequences if it were wrong and I was punished accordingly. I'd get a whooping or be grounded for a week or so pending what I did, it seemed to work out fairly well, I think I turned out alright. My sister on the other hand, 5 years younger, escaped with a lot more than I ever could. I look at her now and she finally and just barely graduated college, and has just now found a decent job that pays more than 7 an hour. I on the other hand gave my mom 1 year of college before I joined the service and that's where I've been and will be for the next 5 years at a minimum. I wanted to join right out of high school, but I think it worked out for the best. I that year of college I also got to work with my dad at the plumbing company he works for. I had gotten my plumbing license my senior year when I worked for my uncles company. In that year of working with him he moved from being the strict dad to being more friendly in nature. He tells me all the time that he was sorry if he was ever too hard on me, I tell him if he wasn't I might not be where I am today. Kids need a disciplinary figure in their life. I look at my daughter and I'll spend the first 16-18 years of her life teaching her how to be someone beneficial to society, not a leech and what's right and wrong. The remaining years after I've given my "lessons" we can be friend, at that point she will be an adult and can make her own decisions. I just have to work on her relationship with my wife now. I can point at her and she will stop what she's doing, my wife on the other hand....it takes her a little more effort. I don't go around spanking my daughter though, unless it's needed, most of the time I tell her how disappointed I am in her. This can relate back to an earlier post, most normal girls can be torn down with words, they don't need a spanking. I look at my generation and am saddened, as well as generations coming after mine. Less kids are outside, doing physical stuff and more often stuck behind a computer or a gaming console. More concerned about leveling up in their game than experiencing life. Those that are outside aren't given any guidance for the most part, and I see if in my neighborhood. A little boy across the street from me was sent outside to play, he was out there by himself. I'm in a fairly new neighborhood so there isn't too many kids running around yet. Even with that I make it a point to take my daughter out a few times a week and play soccer or my favorite is watching a 3 year old trying to hit a golf ball. Kids need guidance, not a friend, they have the rest of their life to be your friend, give them structure and a good background and they will go far. Sorry for the ramblings, just my opinion on things. I feel strongly about the downfall of our society due to parents not being there and other varying factors. I could go on for days about "kids these days", maybe I was born in the wrong period of time. -
Try Lilja barrels (Lilja Precision Rifle Barrels), Shilen (Welcome to Shilen Rifles, Inc.), Krieger (Home) or Pacnor (Custom rifle barrels for varmint hunters to serious benchrest shooters. PAC-NOR Barreling, Inc. - Precision Rifle Barrels - Pac-Nor.com). I got a friend that the gunsmith at Middle TN Gunsmithing (Brandon) and I are going to make him a .408 CheyTac bolt action later this summer and he is going with a Lilja barrel. In the research we put into the barrels for the .408 any of the ones listed above got great reviews. Another place you could go for advice on parts is http://www.6mmbr.com/ and see what all is going on there that applies to you.

So, by getting my wife into shooting I learned over a period of time working with her that she is left eye dominant. I have since been teaching her to shoot rifles with her left hand so she be a little more accurate. She shoots pistols just fine right handed, so this has been a trick. I have a 10/22 set aside for my daughter that is already done up with a nice target style stock, bipod, scope and bull barrel. I have 3 more 10/22's in the works for my wife, my dad and myself. I've already gotten a Green Mountain stainless bull barrel for my wife's 10/22 and in sticking with the scheme she likes, she wants a stainless gun with a walnut stock. There comes my problem. I want to get her a target style stock, but I would like to be able to shoot it as well. As I shoot with the "correct" hand, I don't want to conform to her leftist ways. I have seen the Boyd's Evolution stock and I like it quite a bit, I was wondering if anyone has stumbled across any other options for walnut/laminated brown on brown ambidextrous stocks for the 10/22. Along with that, what is a good inexpensive scope that I could use. I threw a cheapo from Wally World on there for the time being, but was wanting to know what some other good options were. Lastly, for my build I was looking at the Whistle Pig Octagonal barrel. I like the way it looks and with a black to grey anodized fade on it I think it would look pretty cool in a Peppered laminate stock. Does anyone have any experience with Whistle Pig? In my search for the "answers" I read "Customize The Ruger 10/22" by James E. House. Good book full of good information, but didn't narrow it down for me. If anything it gave me more options to think about. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have the Fenix Erik mentioned and it works great, I've had people at work try to "acquire" it from me when I wasn't looking. My wife has a Streamlight LED Scorpion and she likes it pretty well, she hasn't tried to take my Fenix yet.

Any chances on another one of these coming about in March or April? I'd like to get into some competitive shooting, work keeps me away quite a bit though. I won't be able to attend the match in February. I have quite a bit of experience in combat style shooting and have done the combat pistol and rifle course at Mid-South Institute of Self-defense Shooting 3 times now on top of other courses. With that though I would like to start doing some competitions when I can. Any help or direction would be nice and another one of these beginners competitions would be even better.

OS, Does yours have the poly/metal trigger as well? The one I gave to my dad, I had already replaced the plastic guide rod and it wasn't untili was installing the Wolff trigger spring that I noticed the top half of the trigger was plastic. I want to know when they started doin this, I know it's to cut weight and costs, but nothing beats metal on a gun. I will be replacing the trigger once I get my hands on the 92 again. Let me know too if you need the metal guide rod, I'll be getting a couple for the build I'll be doing. The left over ones will be of little use to me, this build will not be happening for another month or so though.

As long as everyone saw the same thing happen, no one can question it. Gotta love it when great minds think alike.

I missed the last run on these, I'll take 4.

Shortly after my sister moved out of the house and had turned 21, my dad asked me what kind of pistol he should get. He wanted a 9mm to replace his Ruger P89, I was a little mad at first since that was "my" pistol and he gave it to my sister. Anyways I have since added about 15 more pistols to my collection so I guess I'm not hurting for the P89 that bad. Back to the topic, I found a guy on another forum that had a 92FS for 430$ shipped, so I bought it. I bought it knowing that they are easy to completely disassembly and the parts that did break were easily replaced. I can honestly say that I have put roughly 15k through a M9 and the only issues that I had were the trigger spring breaking and I had 2 locking blocks break. On the 92FS that I gave to my dad, he has put roughly 2k through it and to my knowledge he has only had 1 stovepipe, and nothing has broken. I did however replace the trigger spring in it with a Wolff enclosed trigger spring. I've been more than happy with the Beretta as a whole, I personally will still lean more towards a Sig P226 if it were a 9mm I was after. But to each their own, that's why there are so many diffent types of guns out there. I will be starting a project gun soon for a friend in Washington based on the Taurus PT92, for those of you who have seen the movie Romeo and Juliet (I have not), John Leguzamo's character carries a gold and silver PT92 with a compensator on it. Should be a fun project and since I already know the pistol for the most part, I know Taurus has made their changes, it should be an easy one. I'll keep you posted on that project, and I wouldn't worry about opinion on this gun or that gun type of thing. Everyone has had their experiences and have taken different things away from them. I personally won't buy a Dodge again, my last Dodge was ridiculous in upkeep costs and the one prior to that was nothing but a money pit, Chevy hasn't done wrong by me yet. Enjoy the Beretta and shoot the hell out of it, if you break it and want some assistance I have some armorer level PowerPoint presentations that I can email you and it will talk you through how to get it apart and fix what's broken.

I know you can't please everyone, but this nutnfancy guy annoys the hell out of me. Good videos though once you cut through the BS.
