  1. Have any of you ever had problems with expansion? I talked to a guy a few years ago that used a Ruger SBH on deer and had killed 4 or 5 and said he got no expansion at all. He used Rem. 240 gr. ( don't know if it was JHP or what) .
  2. I agree with Garufa on this. I've seen BP guns that had some rust/pitting and most will still shoot good as long as the pitting isn't really bad.
  3. Caster, that ought to be great. I've never owned a Contender but, have shot one. It was .357 Max. and was pretty neat. I load .30-30 for rifles but, I've not started casting yet. I do have a couple .30 cal. molds though.
  4. If you can make your own, it would be way better. I heard that with the price of the dies, that you would have to make a few thousand bullets to pay for the dies.  I wish I had a lathe, and I try something like that myself. I've not ran a lathe, mill, or anything machinist related in a few years. Definitely need to get back in it.
  5. Wow, you really brought her back to life. Great job on that one.
  6. That last sentence was genius.
  7. I used several different powders over the years to load both. Unique, 2400, Herco,  H110, IMR4227. The .38 loads usually work best with slightly faster powders. I like 2400, H110  and 4227 in the heavy magnum loads.
  8. I think it looks great. You took a plain looking girl and made her pretty.
  9. My first is a Ruger 6" Security Six .357. I bought it in 1986 and still have it. A real sweet gun.
  10. Do you have any idea when they were made?
  11. What are the barrel lengths on them? The .303 is a rare bird nowadays. A guy a work had 2 boxes of Win. .303 Savage  190 gr. Silvertip ammo for sale about 2 months ago but, he's sold both boxes already. His was the second and third box that I've seen. Once again, they are both awesome finds.
  12. Awesome. I've never even seen a 1920 Savage. I've seen them on line and magazines but, never actually saw one before. Congrats on both of them.
  13. Thats about  the same load I use in my Garand. Except I use CCI 200 and Win. LR primers. 47 and 47.5 gr. IMR4895 works good. I've got some AA 2520 and have been meaning to try it.
  14. That's like homemade sin............
  15. I don't have a 1917 but, did find a 1903 Rem, that's kind of a mix of a 1903 and 1903a3. Weird huh? Good shooter though.
  16. That is about the weirdest thing I've ever seen.
  17. I just love it. But, I've kinda got a weird sense of humor.
  18. Caster, I don't shoot a lot of .22 ammo either. When I was a kid I ate up a lot of .22 ammo but, don't shoot it much anymore.
  19. Really nice Swede. I love Mauser rifles. I think its a great solid design. The 98 Mauser was way ahead of its time. I own 3 right now.
  20. I've not bought a box of ammo in over a year. I reload pretty much whatever I need. Components have went witch crazy too. But, I have enough to get me by for a while. I don't buy ammo from Wall of China Mart anyway. They suck and always will..............
  21. Didn't get to hunt a whole lot but, did get one. For some reason they didn't gobble much around here.
  22. I got a C&R license. I'll take a look a it. Thanks.
  23. They're turning up in a lot of places these days.
  24. Nice one. I love the things too. I need to get some a spam can for mine.
  25. I heard one Sat. morning that gobbled just a few times. I saw one Thursday and one Saturday that was henned up. It seems the breeding may be a little behind.
