  1. Catdaddy do you know where to find berdan primers or are you gonna drill out to boxer primer diameter? If you could get boxers to fit good it would be much better. What caliber/calibers are you trying this with?
  2. Yeah Bearman I've called in hawks too. Right over my head. One time called in a big owl. Crows will sometimes come in too. One time while turkey hunting I set up on a gobbler and the gobbler flew down but I didn't know where he went. In a little while after calling some I heard something coming in and finally seen it and it was a big possum. I started messing with him just to see how close he would come and he almost came in my lap.
  3. I agree with Chris. Very nice hooks. Looks about 1 1/2" or so. I killed one about 5 years ago with hooks like that. It was my best bird as far as beard and spurs, but the lightest.
  4. Is that really a bumper car in that pic? Man, thats something you don't see. I found a old truck door once. Some poor guy must've had it open and tore it off on a tree. I don't know what or how he drove back in there. This was a good ways back in some thick woods. Must've been not so thick at one time.
  5. So So So Glad I handload.
  6. Good BBQ. I love shoulder and shredded.
  7. A big howdy to you JimMc.
  8. Sweet tea or Vault. Couldn't decide on one. You did say don't worry about sugar or whatever. Vault is gonna kill a lot of people someday. Can't handle the energy drinks.
  9. No I don't agree with the any centerfire caliber either. The .22 centerfires with the right bullet will make good kills on deer but most factory ammo don't have the right bullet. Ky. has had this for a lot longer than Tn. and most hunters up there don't use anything smaller than a .243. I've talked to some Ky. hunters and they know guys that have used stuff like .222,.223,and .22-250 and they say it don't work evertime. As for the 7.62x39 for deer it will work ok. A friend has an SKS and has used it and says it works good. But the kicker is he's using a 7mm Mauser now. Hmmmmm.
  10. How many drawings this year? I know it was just a few last year. Maybe in a few years it will be several more. Kentucky from what I hear has several more drawings than Tennessee.
  11. Adam, thats sounds pretty cool man.
  12. Some of the 3" shells may pattern better. I've heard of several people getting good results with 3 1/2" shells though. A friend of mine shoots a 870 Express and has never shot a 3 1/2" shell in it and has killed probably 20 turkeys with it. He uses Federal 3" 2 oz. loads with 5 shot. Other shells would probably work good too.
  13. Ok. I imagine beavers would be good eating. They are secretive and shy animals though. I've never actually seen many out in daylight. Trapping would probably be easier and more successful. I find chewed trees and downed trees a lot but see few beavers.
  14. I looked on the S&W forum but couldn't find the thread your talking about. What is the load data?
  15. I'm guilty of overcalling myself sometimes. I try not to call very much if I got a bird that might be interested.
  16. I'd say both.
  17. WD-40 it is easy when everything comes together. I've called birds in like they was on a string and then next time I can't get one to come a 50 yards.
  18. ftncityfatboy,I'm glad you like it. The're not bad old rifles at all. Grab the military ammo while you can get it. Its corrosive but usually shoots good.
  19. You crack me up.
  20. Yeah Bearman that counts. I found a old horseshoe the other day. Does that count? Thought it might give me some luck with the turkeys. It ain't so far.
  21. Good going Chris. Glad you scored.
  22. I hope everybody scores soon.
  23. My morning wouldn't great either.
  24. Yeah your right. It does need to pass quick. This brings to mind a line in a movie called Best Defense. "The American people need to get together and blow these ------------- away."
