  1. Around here they're rutting pretty good. I've seen bucks chasing does and so far during ML saason I've seen more bucks than does. I saw a decent 3 yr. old 8 point this morning with his nose to the ground. I grunted at him just to mess with him and he didn't seem at all interested.
  2. I've never ordered anything from Century. I've thought about ordering some of the U fix'em rifles.
  3. Don't Traditions make a flintlock? I thought I saw one somewhere.
  4. I was wondering if anybody had heard about a little girl in Jackson County killing a 160" + buck during the Juvenile hunt? I was in Celina Saturday the 6th and a guy was telling me about it. Said it was just an unreal buck for this area. If anybody knows anything, I'd appreciate it.
  5. If you get some pics from your neighbor, post some if you can. I saw a good deer 3 mornings ago walking through the woods. I only got glimpses of him going through the trees. Looked like a good shooter, but couldn't tell how many points. Man, I'll tell yah there ought to be some good bucks around here as many young bucks i've let walk.
  6. I use 90 gr. Triple 7 and a 350 gr. Maxi-Hunter. I killed a 3 yr. old 140 lb. dressed buck Saturday morning at 40 yds. I hit him in the shoulder and it lodged under the skin on the opposite side. It expanded to about .80 cal. It had some gashes in it, like it hit some bone.
  7. I sighted in my .308 and 8mm a couple weeks ago.
  8. Around here I've seen some bucks chasing does and seen several scrapes. One area I hunt has 8-10 rubs and 2 scrapes. The 7 point(3 yr. old) I killed Saturday morning was in full rut.
  9. Well yours is one of the newer ones, because its in .308. When I bought mine all that was available was .270 and .30-06. They're supposed to be better now. Mine is at Eagle Pass, Tx. now getting a new extractor for the second time. I don't know when it will be home. It shoots good, handles good and I like the weight of it. But its fragile as all get out. They told me on the phone before I sent it back that there was a better replacement for it. Does yours have the knurled bolt handle or smooth? Mine's smooth, because its the old crappy style. I hope mine's way better than it has been. It won't be seeing any action this season.
  10. Theres several that blow my nind and some of them most people have never heard of. Steve Vai Joe Satriani Buckethead aka Brian Carrol Yngwie Malmsteen Michael Angelo Batio Eddie Van Halen and several more than I can't think of right now.
  11. I may be wrong on this but I think the Aero Tip is a hollow point with the plastic tip in it. Just the same bullet with a aerodinamic tip. I've got a CVA Staghorn inline that I bought for a hundred bucks. It shoots great with 90 gr. Triple 7 and a 350 gr. Maxi-Hunter. I've also got a old T/C New Englander .50
  12. I'd wondered about C'mere Deer. I know the stuff's expensive and if it don't work , thats bad. The guys you see endorsing it probably get it for free. They don't have anything to lose, right. Almost all the stuff on the market probably works sometimes. I've wondered about the Trophy Rock. It looks like a rock. I started to get one at TSC at Cookeville the other day.
  13. Uh, a '58 Fury aka Christine. That attracts deer?
  14. I wondered if anybody here used deer attractants. I usually don't, but have a little in the past. I've thought about using C'mere deer but the stuff is expensive and my funds are not what they was a few months ago. I put out Trace Mineral salt year round but thats it. I know its not a great attractant but they love it and its got a few minerals in it. I tried a deer cocaine (called deercane now) and it was about as effective as me pissing on the ground. They never touched it. I put it right next to a major trail too.
  15. Head shots are awesome, but really I've never even did it on a deer. Groundhogs, rabbits, and squirrels is all.
  16. Marlin Model 60 Ruger MkII Savage 110E .223
  17. Glad you got it.
  18. I don't think Charter makes it anymore. What exactly was you wanting to know? I missed a deal on one of these at a pawn shop for $140.
  19. Some brands of ammo will sometimes leave burn marks on the cases. Its possible the brass isn't expanding against the chamber wall. This will a lot of times leave burn marks. I've handloaded for over 20 years and see this with light loaded .38's. I wouldn't worry much about it. Somebody else on here may have something else.
  20. Let us know how the CZ-82 and Nagant look when you get'em in.
  21. I don't have a .45 but have shot them and they are no slouch. I wouldn't mind hunting deer with one. But hogs might make me nervous. I guess if I was in a stand and had a short shot and had plenty of time it would be ok.
  22. The round recievers are ok, but I prefer the hex. The round make nice shooters but I collect Mil-Surps and shoot them. The hex are usually made nicer in my opinion. I ordered a Izshevsk 1943 and didn'nt get the select and it had a great bore(probably shot good)but the reciever looked like it had been milled out in about 10 minutes. Tool marks everywhere. They needed them quick. I reccomend you get the hand select.
  23. I saw a Browning SA -22 a while back and wondered what the value is on them. It wasn't in excellent shape but good. Do they all break down?
  24. I don't remember which model it was. He was carrying it in a little case that looked like a wallet. Really really good show.
  25. If they want, they can use rocks. I've not got a problem in using modern muzzleloaders and sabots. I've used them a lot. When I started in muzzleloading, I used a Thompson New Englander .50 with no scope and Maxi-Balls. That was because there was no inlines yet. I think Daniel Boone would have used inlines and sabots.
