  1. Yeah their designed with the .50 BMG in mind. I loaded 64 gr. with the 180 gr Hornady in .30-06 and I used a CCI 250 primer. I'm trying to get set up to cast my own bullets. I've got 2 .30 cal. molds, but the heaviest is 168 gr. I probably need a 200 gr. or heavier. I got this powder as a gift and I'm gonna try to use it.

    zombie gun

I don't have anything right now that would be a good zombie gun. Maybe my Marlin Model 60? Need a good SKS with lots of cheap ammo.
  3. I don't have a carry permit, but if I lived in a big city I would.
  4. Like Lester said Blue Dot might work good for higher velocity loads. Thats probably what you'd want for a carry load anyway. Some people don't like to use handloads for carry loads though.
  5. I wondered if anybody had ever used either one of these powders? I've not tried the WC860 yet but did load some T5070 in some .30-06 with Hornady 180 gr. spire points. It shot ok but left some unburned powder in the bore. It's as slow as a snail going uphill. It might work for heavier bullets.
  6. I think you said you'd shot some of your handloaded rounds and they shot ok right? Well as long as they are feeding good and there's no flattened primers they are probably ok. Another way to see if they may be high pressure is if takes more muscle to resize the cases that you fired. Does your seater die have a taper crimp? Most auto rounds function better with a taper.
  7. Yeah, Greg did a better job explaining it than me. I agree read your manuals and be careful.
  8. Your first question about the max loads being normal pressure or +P. It will sometimes state in manuals whether its standard or +P. They are probably safe loads but work up to them. I seat my pistol loads to somewhere in between min. and max. and crimp. With a auto you want good feeding. The Max. cartidge overall length is sometimes the max. in a particular gun, sometimes its not. It may be a good basic length. I would take a factory round and copy it. If a factory round feeds and cycles good, copy it. Just pay close attention to the manuals and be safe.
  9. No I didn't know the Ruger Mk1 was based on the Nambu. But, now since I know it kinda pisses me off.
  10. Its a good cal. for a lot of things. I don't own one myself but I handload for a friend for his Ruger No. 1V. I load Hornady 55gr. spirepoints in it. I've got a .223 and if I knew what I know now I would've got a .22-250.
  11. Maybe it won't take too long. It took mine about 75 days.......... Hope yours is much faster.
  12. I bought a .311466 and a .311375 mold today and about 850 .30 cal gas checks. Thanks to Wiljen for the website to identify Lyman molds I found both on there. The .311466 is a 152 gr. and the .311375 is a 168 gr.
  13. I bought some wheel weights at a small local recycling place and got 10 pounds for $3. I know its not dirt cheap, but most of the tire dealers have went to steel weights. One dealer not far from home isn't open much and I've not been able to ask him yet. Is anybody else having a little trouble finding WW?
  14. I used to eat pork brains and scrambled eggs. Never tried chitlins yet. And really don't miss'em.
  15. Who's countin' 23 days, 7 hrs. 5 min.
  16. A .45 ACP carbine has always interested me. My uncle has been a .45 guy for a long time and something like that would probably short circuit him. Nice carbines.
  17. Hunting 101, thanks a lot for the info. I need to see if my daughter wants to go when the juvenile hunt starts.
  18. Yeah Caster, that should be a sledgehammer.
  19. When does the season open? I've not seen a date yet.
  20. Canebreaker, that 6 cavity must be awesome.
  21. The Lee Melter 110 volt is the one I'm looking at. Does anybody have a Lee? Its not got a lot of capacity but its low priced and thats looks good for me. I also need to get a good ladle unless I can find the one my friend has.
  22. My brother in law bought a '54 Tula SKS for $250 and laughed when I offered him his money back. The only one I ever owned was a Chinese with folding spike bayonet. I bought it back in 1990 when nobody had ammo and I didn't have dies yet. Clean the cosmo out good and they're almost indestructible.
  23. I've never sealed my bullets or primers. I guess if I thought it would be used in very humid conditions or stored in high humidity I might. I've had some of my handloads for years and they shot fine.
  24. Same here on pistol brass. I load everything in .38 and .357 and mix them all the time. Target grade loads get a lot more attention.
  25. The 358156 mold that I have is a single cavity model. Yeah it will be slow but but for $10 I'm not mad. I still need to get a melting pot. I've looked at the Lee and will probably try and get one of them. The guy I bought the mold off of has one somewhere but can't find it. It figures huh.
