  1. The only problems with primers was in a Marlin 336 .30-30 that I used CCI 200 primers in. For some reason it would misfire every once in a while with them. The firing pin strike would be very light. But, with Win., I never had a problem.
  2. Rugerla 1, I sure hope she understands. After all it only comes along for a few weeks each year. Hey, I just kidding! My happiest day was when my daughter was born in 2000.
  3. I've not seen any turkey posts on here yet. I know its 2  weeks, 6 days, and 17 hours from today but, I'm a little excited. Gonna make some slate calls in a few days. Doing a few things around the house until opener.
  4. I've never hunted them yet. There's not any where I hunt, at least now. A guy that lives about 15 miles from me killed a big black boar a few weeks ago.
  5. I agree with everybody else. I think you did a good job.
  6. I used to work with an older man that loved the Win. 150 gr. HP load in a .30-30. He and his 2 daughter had killed a bunch of deer with that load over the years, and he said it always put the deer down quick.
  7. Guys at work are having problems finding it too. I've never owned one and don't plan on it because, of the ammo problem. How is the .17 HMR ammo these days?
  8. I wish I would have bought some surplus when it was widely available. I've used W748, IMR 4198, and IMR4895 for a long time in .223 Rem. I even loaded and shot some 55 gr. fmj with a compressed load of WC846. Shot good and seemed to be not much louder than a .22 Mag.
  9. I'd go with .308 because, I've already got dies and also why waltz, when you can rock n roll!
  10. The STG 58 that I shot  and looked at was a well built but, a little crude. The bipod still had rough welds on it. Not much had been ground down at all.
  11. Why? Just why?
  12. That's probably about right. There's some pretty weird looking guns made in poor countries. A lot of them are made by hand too. I wonder if they made the frame tapered like that to make it easier to put in a holster?
  13. Is anybody familiar with the STG 58? I knew a guy a few years ago that had one and let me shoot it a few times. I never even imagined he would ever sell it, so I never asked. Anyway a few months later he sold it. I guess you need to ask questions...... STG 58 rifles are very similar to FN FAL 7.62x51 cal.
  14. Congratulations. I like your address too. I'm a Jimi fan too.
  15. That's the way it should be done. If you want it, get it. And if you don't somebody else can have it.
  16. Ramjo, looks like you got a good one there. Let us know how it shoots.
  17. I agree. If it's your brass and you want it, you should be taking it home. For one thing, they are charging you to shoot there and then keeping all the brass. If I was shooting there, I would try to get my brass, and dare them to say something to me about it. They can do more than pound sand!
  18. A lot of the M1 rifles are a little rough. A few years ago there was some that came on the market that they called shooter grade, and they looked rode hard and put away wet. My WRA is a little on the rough side. The stock and metal are not banged up but, the stock is a little dark.
  19. Gkar, all I can say is awesome man. I've got 3 of the rifles that you have. A '42 WRA M1 Garand, a '42 Inland M1 Carbine and a B series 1941 Johnson but, there not as nice as yours.
  20. Thanks I appreciate it. Since I first posted I found a older No#10 Speer that had several loads in it. I forgot I even had a No#10 manual.
  21. Mr. Brian, very nice Swede you got there. I'd forgot about the Swede's having a semi.
  22. I just wondered if anybody had any good loads for Herco in .45? I'm about to start loading for .45 and I've got a lot of Herco. I'm mostly interested in bullets in 200gr.-230 gr. Thanks.
  23. I don't think there would be any problem with 7.62x51 NATO. Some of them were in .30-06 and 7.65x53. A lot of the 7.62 ammo is not as high pressure as standard .308 ammo.
  24. I've loaded a lot of .38 ammo over the years but, haven't used a lot of different powders. I used to load a lot of 2400 with a 158 gr. cast. 8 gr. worked pretty good. And I've also loaded Herco a lot too.
  25. Yeah, its mine. Had it for a few years.
