  1. I don't shoot the young'uns either. I've not killed a 1 1/2 year old in about 7 years.
  2. Has anybody seen any rubs or scrapes yet? I found 3 or 4 scrapes and only 2 or 3 rubs so far.
  3. WD, you may be the only one huntin' with a flintlock. I don't know. I'd hunt with one if I had one.

    worst rifle ever!

I gotta agree with GunTroll on the Rem. 770. The Rem. 710 ain't that great either. Mossberg didn't build a gem with the 100ATR either. I understand that companies want to build affordable rifles that will sell in our crappy economy but, some of them are just junk. I had a Mossberg 100 ATR that I sent back to them 3 times for a broke extractor. I guess I probably only shot it a total of about 200 times. I sold it for a lot less than I had in it and was still glad to get rid of it.
  5. Yes, you'll have to buy both tags for the different parts of the season(M/L and Gun). It can get expensive.
  6. I used to use the Hornady Great Plains bullets and they shot good out of my T/C New Englander but, didn't expand and everyone of them shot clean through. They did kill quick though. I've been using some 350 gr. Maxi-Hunters that were home cast the last few years. I like to experiment a little. I killed a 140 lb. 7 point last year with one.
  7. I almost bought a Buckskinner a few years ago. The inlines kinda grow on you. I like the traditional rifles but, I've hunted when the weather was wet and the inlines sometimes are less finicky. Batman, do you get any expansion with the 385 gr. bullets your using?
  8. I've got a T/C New Englander .50 cal. and a CVA Stag Horn .50 and I shoot 350 gr. Maxi-Hunters in each one. Good luck to everybody this season.
  9. Yeah the Hex reciever rifles are usually built better.
  10. I'd like to have a box of that just as a collectible.
  11. The BFR is a monster. Harry would have a hard time hiding it under his jacket in a HUGE shoulder holster. Its a monster killer though.
  12. Yeah, the weather has "got better for huntin' anyway". I don't bowhunt and have to wait a little longer, and it'll probably warm up a lot by then. Good luck to all the bowhunters.
  13. I would've love to been there, 10-Ring. Does your uncle still talk to you?
  14. There's nothing wrong with good iron sights. I said good iron sights because some take a lot of getting used to. Most new rifles on the market don't have'em anymore, just like you have noticed. You may have to have some good sights put on. I hope you find what your looking for. If not, you can find great sights in Brownells or Midway Usa.
  15. Another thing the cheap scopes are bad for (besides coming unsealed and fogging up and adjustment turrets not being precise)is they don't take recoil very good. I've got a POS Simmons 8 point 3x-9x that even when new wouldn't sight in on a .30-06 but, is now on my .22. Its doing good and as long as it keeps doing good it'll have a home on the .22.
  16. I just hope their children are not as dumb as they are.
  17. I guessed No.4 and sorry about your girlfriend's place getting burglared.
  18. I feel for you WD. Its tough sometimes. I got laid off in Jan. 2010 and was off a long time and put in a lot of applications with not much luck. I finally got called back and after 90 days I'm laid off again............
  19. Yeah, he probably learned not to do that again but, he'll probably do something else stupid.
  20. Wow is all I can say!
  21. The whole series Service Six, Speed Six, and Security Six are great quality and strong built. My Security Six has the paragraph on the barrel too.
  22. Well, a short rifle build would have to be at least 16 1/4" barrel. Thats a Federal law. As far as caliber I think any centerfire is legal.
  23. I've got a small pack I carry that I usually have some water, a snack or 2, 3-4 extra shells or M/L supplies, cover scent and doe scent, extra gloves, face mask, and usually something else in there too.
  24. Congratulations on your boy's deer.
  25. I think(not completely sure)you can run and train your dogs in the off season. I have a lot of times let'em tree and didn't shoot anything out. Some coon hunters don't like to do it much though.
