  1. If its berdan primed its gonna be a ----- to reload. Like xd shooter said you can buy a decapper to get the berdan primers out, but I'm pretty sure you have to replace them with berdan primers because I think they are a different diameter.

    Howa 1500

A .308 or .30-06 sounds good to me. 2 of my favorites.
  3. The first deer rifle I ever had was a Marlin 336cs .30-30 with a Bushnell 4x32 scope. I still have the scope on another rifle. I was stupid and traded the rifle though. It was a good little rifle and shot pretty good.
  4. Lumber_Jack and Timberdoodle, them are some good deer. I've not seen what I want yet. Well, let me rephrase that. I've not seen what I want that I could get a shot at. Saw a shooter buck about a week ago.
  5. That ought to make a nice mount.
  6. I'm sorry to hear about your friends son too. You can't be to safe. On the thing about people looking at you through a scope. I had that happen to me too. I waved at him and he put down his rifle.
  7. I've not done any good yet either. Let 2 young bucks walk and saw a shooter but, couldn't get a good shot. The wind has been blowing pretty hard and is this morning too. I stayed in this morning because of the wind.
  8. I'm sitting here hoping that the wind will lay tommorrow morning. The weather today stinked as far as deer hunting goes. It needs to cool off some too.
  9. Yeah they do get pretty stiff.
  10. Congratulations to him. I didn't get to go this morning but, I'm hoping tomorrow works out.

    worst rifle ever!

They didn't put much thought in stock design back in them days did they?
  12. I always heard they had a tough hide but, didn't know they was that hard to kill.
  13. Both are very nice deer. He's got 2 awesome P&Y bucks.
  14. Sidinman, thats a good'un. Like you said if you let him walk who knows how long he would make it. Looks like he's got a big body.
  15. I saw 2 young bucks this morning and passed on both. One was a 6 point that should be nice in a couple more years if he's lucky.
  16. I didn't know they had come that far North yet. I'm in Clay County and as far as I know we don't have any yet. I know that TWRA has them as a unprotected species in Tn.
  17. Do they still make them in .357?
  18. The Mojo is a awesome sight. I've never seen one on a Mosin but, my brother in law has a SKS with one and it helps a lot. I agree on the Rock Solid mount. They're expensive though. But, from what I hear, the name says it all. I just use the standaed sights on all 3 of mine.
  19. I didn't get to hunt Sunday or this morning but, did go this afternoon and saw just a bunch of squirrels. If we get some cold mornings it will have to get better.
  20. I've got a Mauser 1916 Spanish in .308(sportered) that I've had for about 17 years. I've killed about 20 deer with it.
  21. I've never been in a situation like that. I really don't know what I'd do. I hear about hunters like that but, luckily I've never had to deal with one like that.
  22. Congratulations on the doe. I hunted till 10:45 and didn't see anything but squirrels. It was super foggy and the fog didn't really move out till almost 10:00.
  23. Yeah, WD I agree but, I still keep letting them walk.
  24. I saw an awesome rub yesterday that was on a cedar that was about 6" diameter. Rubbed from the ground to about 4 feet high. I want the buck that did it.
