Magiccarpet: I still believe the problem with the RFB was the compensator but have not taken it back over to the range yet with more ammo. Maybe in the morning!
-
Ultra Lite 3 inch barrel and a 3 inch chambered 6 inch barrel would be my suggestion.
-
There are plans for longer barrels to be available for the RFB. While well balanced I think they are boxy and lack what one would want in an up close and personal weapon such as rail space. I had to order a rail for the bottom of the forearm just to use a bipod. The company also claims to be working on a quad rail for the RFB but if there claims and reality equal what they provided for the Sub2000 it will be a long wait. The second thing I did was to put a Battle Comp on the RFB and the result was a yes maybe. Let someone else buy an RFB so you can test fire it. The RFB uses metric FAL mags only!

DPMS makes the SASS and the LAR 308 for the purpose you want. However having said that I also have the M1A and M1A SOCOM which I think are lighter and prefer the location of the charging handle. When a SCAR 17 comes in I will have one and I am waiting for a M1A Match Target. I passed n the FAL platform. With the M1A you can get a Mini 14 and have the same configuration with 223 or a Mini 30 and have a 7.62 X39.

Thanks for the heads up on the Winchester because that would be a good all purpose round for hiking which is what I use My Judge for. By the way where did you find the Wichester ? I can not find iit available on line.

I got a 1.5 at the flea market in Jonesborough last year and they cut to fit. pick your style and width. Of course I went to bibs and belt loops seem to be missing. Going from a 34 to a 40 waist in 2 years after I quit smoking, it put a bulge in the middle.

I replaced my G27 barrel also with great results. I replaced it with a Kimber Ultra RCP and the difference is amazing!

I found 5.7 Ammo for 38 cents a round bought in bulk. As for the differences between guns I agree as I had to change the grips on my guns in the 70s as they were not large enough and I am more comfortable withe the larger grips of the 5.7 and the full sized Kimbers. I do not shoot for accuracy now as I am lucky to get the shots within 6 inches at 25 yrads with any thing other than the 5.7. I am shooting for defense practice so 7 yards is about the limit with 25 occasionally if I am stabilized by a tree or bench. Wild 2 liter soda bottles are my most active victims because you never know when a soda bottle will go on a rampage therefore I attempt to keep the population down.

I could have probably matched your shooting when I was in my twenties and shot 3 to 4 times a week. But that was then and now if I get one or two out of 7 close I am happy. I have met and shot with the ones that get 1 to 2 inch groups at 25 or 50 yards with a match grade pistol and match grade hand loaded ammo. I have heard claims of 1 inch at 100 yards with a FN fiveseven but I can not even see the bulls eye at 100 yards unaided. For more accuracy I would transfer to the 5.7 platform as it is flatter and I get tighter groups. I am not a rimfire fan for more than plinking.

Having been on both sides of the Counter in the past. The ones that treat their customers fair are the ones that get repeat business. If you want to make 100 bucks of one person you miss making 20 bucks each off 200 people. This is one of the reasons that so many are going to the internet to buy and saving by just doing transfer fees locally.

Even here in East Tennessee there are some shops that price for the greatest return on each sale. I have gone into all I drove past and looked to see what was available. I asked the best price and if it was not available else where I bought it. However there is only 2 gun store that get my repeat business because of what I considered "Price Gouging"by others. At least one of the others is a sponsor on this site. So to the Gun Dealers. Be fair to all your customers because the one in bibs might spend a few bucks on repeat business if treated fairly.

He could always carry a 556p with a 30 round mag or a PS90 with 50 rounds. They both fit in a large back pack at 24 and 26 inches respectively. I think I have seen chest packs that might handle one. Remember: If everyone "is" out to get you it is not paranoia!

My Pusher is doing a shot gun for me in Aluma Hide and swears by the product. He is also setting up an oven to do Dura Coat. He is in Tazewell.

The wife was not a happy camper with the LCP so I bought her a p238 plus a p239 in 40 and she loves them both. I keep my LCP in case my new Kimber Ultra RCP II will not fit in my pocket.

I failed to add the video shows a custom load because of the volume of shot and lack of wad. Having fired this gun at targets of various distances i would call BS on this video and suggest anyone who is interested test fire a box of each type of round you wish to use. If you are in East Tenn I have some different versions and would be willing to allow you to shot if you provide the ammo and clean after. Just PM me. For rounds I would suggest #4, 000, and Hornaday personal defense 45. It will handel the Hornaday Leveloution in 45 which I have for my lever guns. Federal makes a #4 just for handguns. I would also recommend CT grips against snakes of all varieties because you may not have the time to aim

The wife's 556 Swat weighed in at 11 even. And my SASS weighs in at 14. That is the closest I have to an AR that is currently dressed out.
-
That has got to be #7 or lighter. I use that for some practice but load 000, #4, or 45 depending on where the gun is going to be and used for. Federal makes a shell just for this weapon and Hornaday makes a 45 for it also.

Thanks for the warning as I have a couple of cats that would be delighted to copy your cat's activities.

Vontar: If you are interested in trying a Judge that shoots both 45 and 410 I have a couple of models. I have the magnum which shoots a 3 inch shell and ones that only accept a 2.5 shell. PM me if your are interested in test firing one. I carry one around my property for legless varmints with #4 shot and 45 JIC. I would definitely suggest test firing one before purchase as they are not for everyone. They can be carried! As for the 44 in a 410 it would probably be the 44 Russian rather than the 44 mag and there are rumors that people actually cut down 410s to pistols in the double barrel configuration but I can neither confirm or deny that I have personally seen one with an eight inch barrel and pistol grip. The Judge is legal because of the grooved barrel just like the Bond Arms derringers such as the Snake Slayer. I would not recommend that because I can not control one with 3 inch Buck. I guess that makes me a wimp.

That 16 inch 45-70 is the real definition of a "Brush Gun". Had I seen that I probably would not have sold my 45-70 Winchester and copied your gun. I do have the Trapper which has a short LOP, 16 inch barrel, and OAL of 33 inches in 45 LC. However it is not the "Squirrel Gun" that the 45-70 is. One never knows what "Monster Squirrels" might lurk in the woods! I have seen "Photo Shopped" squirrels that are larger than Photo Shopped Grizzlies.

How come everyone on you-tube shoots a revolver until it goes "CLICK"?
Desert Rat replied to Will Carry's topic in Handguns
Actually in case of a misfire that is one of the worst things one could do. In case of click remove magazine or open cylinder after 10 seconds. Then cycle the action on an automatic if it is not open. You are not in a speed loading competition. -

Mikegideon: I also attempted to shoot pocket revolvers once upon a time and prefer a pocket semi all around. I carry a G27 but am looking at a pocket 45 without the long trigger pull. For punishment try a Bond Arms Snake Slayer with a 3 inch 410 3 aught buck. Two shots and sold. -

Some one could get a new Ruger 10-22 pistol with a Beta mag for 100 rounds. -

Chris: You are lacking the pleasure of having a 5 round wheel gun! -
Greg: I know what you mean because I have to keep the Trapper separate from the others. I do not know if it is a short thing or the others wish they were short. But the lightning gets along with the others fine.
