I am currently in the process of setting up a Mossy 835 that will have 3 barrels. An 18.5 slug with red dot for home defense because you can always go down in ammo with a ultra mag but you might not want to go up. A 26 inch slug for hunting with a scope and 1 26 inch smooth bore for birding with various chokes. Years ago I could do as well shooting trap as my father-in-law and mother-in-law with their fancy over and under Skeet guns and I had a sporting goods store special 12 gauge pump that I used for trap, quail, and ducks. I was not active in the hunting area and just occasionally went with my brother-in-law. For trap or skeet you would be better off with an over /under because you only load one of two shells at a time. For birding a semi or a pump would be better and if you ever wanted to advance to turkey then an ultra mag with 3.5 chamber would be the answer. This one might fit your needs: A391 Xtrema2 Kick-Off® Synthetic*

I can buy in long guns neighboring states and some times do in Kentucky but you probably can not buy one in Ohio if you live in Tennessee. I think that is a federal law. You can probably have it transferred to a FFL in state and pick it up there.

The Beretta CX series are nice but I thought expensive for a pistol caliber carbine. I found a used British Sterling for 650. It is what they used after the war. Looks like you can have an FFL order it for you for 500 here: Sterling SMG 9mm Carbine - Default Store View It is light weight and has an interesting look. Also the stock folds. I have not yet shot mine but plan to when the weather cools off. My problem with the Pistol Caliber Carbines is the effective distance here on the farm I need something that will reach out to touch a Yote between 1 and 2 hundred yards. The PCCs came up short. Even my 45LCs come up a bit short.

If you get to Morristown the price last week was 34.95 but I bought the last 100 round box.

I no longer "plink" being close to twice your age I specifically bought this for the Granddaughter and will shoot to test the scope or if I convert it back to iron sites to site those in. My "Plinking is watching soda bottles explode when hit with a 5.7 round or hearing a 5.56 or 7.62 hit steel at 1 to 200 yards. I recently bought reactive targets to plink with my 45s at pistol distances. Of course I call that practice rather than "Plinking" because that sounds like I am doing something constructive. If I did get a 22 for my use it would be a Nylon66 as that is the first rifle I shot during my teens and what I owned in the 70s.

You could pick up a Hi-point 9mm and Ruger makes or made a 9mm carbine. Probably looking at your local gun store would be best. If it is just for indoor target shooting you are probably better off with what you have. I have seen other tac 9 conversions and weapons but the price is close to getting a real 556.

I can reduce weight by removing the optic and using iron sights also which would probably be a better learning tool. This is a starter weapon that I expect her to grow out of in a few years and advance to 5.7, 556, 308 eventually. Or maybe even a 9 mm carbine which I already have. By "kids" I was referring to the young one's parents who are in their 40s! . Late life baby. The older sister graduates from High School next year.

Now That is light. For me the timing was right when I stopped by the Pusher because he had recently got the modified 10-22 in. I picked it up and thought it "Felt" right so bought it. The kids are moving here within the next few months so I will see then if I was correct.

The Sig 556 is close to that price and I prefer it to the AR platform even though the after market options are limited.
-
The Blackhawk is less and I would have gone that way if the one I ended up with was not available. Also a heavy barrel defeats the weight issue for a 5 year old. Cuting the stoch was not an option as growth of a young person is a happening thing so I think the rifle needs the ability to grow also. Even if it is only 4.25 for LOP and 6 inches for vertical fore grip. By the time she grows out of this she will be ready for an EBR or even one of my BLRs in 308

Two things were the deciding factor for the Archangel stock. First was my dealer had a used one in real good condition and second was it looks meaner. I will post pics soon. No new posts so here is the pic: That is a tear drop 50 round mag in the weapon.

I am getting rid of LCP and going to P238! I already got a 238 for the wife.

Try here: 55651 - Knoxx Axiom R/F Ruger 10/22 Rifle Stock I got the Archangel adjustable for the granddaughter so it will grow with her.

Thinking Of Switching To A Revolver For EDC
Desert Rat replied to krunchnik's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
In the 70s I knew people who could reload a wheel gun as fast or faster than most could reload a semi. At the range we had Bowling pin competitions and others that required multiple reloads with both types of guns and the end result was usually a tie between revolvers and semis. Being older I now prefer the semi-auto but carry a Judge for the 410 shell while walking in the woods. I will add that I carry a sling bag while walking so have a semi as back up to the Judge. -
I have carried some form of legal identification with me since the mid 60s and in some incidences I needed 2 forms of legal identification. It is common practice for me to have some form of identification on me when I am away from the house but I tend to be forgetful lately. I think some form of legal identification is a good idea and those that abuse it should be separated from the rest. Then I have walked among those I would consider lawless as my job required that I saw and heard nothing but what was related to business and that I had no opinion while at work unless it related to business. There was no politics, no religion, and no good or evil. It was just business.

Heat is the most important factor with retreads. Having lived in the desert I am aware of the failures with retreads but would think here it would not be a problem unless you were attempting to race at over 100 MPH. For general daily use they should be OK. My personal experience with aggressive tires has lead me to prefer all weather over all terrain. The so called all terrain tires on my truck spin out in the mud where the all weather on my van do not.

I actually believed the story that cats will reduce the number of mice in your yard. I got a couple of cats and they reduced the number of all rodents in the yard by binging them in the house as play things. I had installed a Doggie Door and the cats learned to use it.
-
No mole problem here because the dogs and cats love to play with them. I have less moles this year than last year.

This method will be a valuable addition to the commercial air handling market and 20 to 30 years may be scaled down to residential use. Some seem to not be seeing that this method works in humid climate regions and is another form of indierct evaporative cooling that is currently being used in large commercial structures. The liquid desiccant is the key to the end results as it will draw the moisture out of the air. They are ignoring history because I was raised with evaporative cooling and did not have central air until the mid 80s in the south west desert. Rumor has it that my Grandfather lived without electricity in East Tennessee for his entire life and he passed away in the early 70s. By being pampered we lose the ability to adapt to changes in the weather.

Private 200+ yard range on my side property.

However I found that a new barrel does not fix the shooter but a different configuration of gun helps as it is all personal preference and personal compatibility with different types of weapons.

The only thing I use that was missing from Morristown was 380. The few times I go the Middlesboro they usually have plenty in stock.
-
Living close to the Middlesboro and Morristown Wally World locations I did not see the Winchester there yesterday but will look again as I have to go to town tomorrow. Seeing as how 25E is a bit east of I24 I recon I might not be stopping at your locations soon. I also use the Hornaday LEVERevolution but primarily shoot the cheap stuff for practice and carry better for legless varmints when I walk such as the federal personal defense #4

Billitproof: The RFB is for you then because the spent brass does come out the front with no problem. It just sort of slides out during shooting.

I admit I bought the last 45 WWB 100 round at Morristown. I may have innocently asked if they would "Pull" more from Nashville for me. I did see some 50 round boxes on the shelf when I left. However they said all the 380 was in Nashville and that is why I could not find any in Morristown.
